Is the week over yet? Like so many of you, we seem to be wrapped up in an endless cycle of sickness. Emily, Marissa, then Emily once again. It is bouncing around like crazy and I’m terrified of getting lost somewhere in the middle of it. I feel like I’ve sanitized everything except the inside of my mouth and thoughts of doing that have crossed my mind multiple times. I’m typing this post up on a Tuesday afternoon and it will be nothing short of a miracle if I’m not sick by the time it goes live.
Boy, do I sound like a Debbie Downer! I always find that I am better off to mentally prepare for the worst though. That way if things end up okay, I’m pleasantly surprised. I’ve never been a very good optimist.
The good news is, it’s Five Things Friday! In honor of Russ’ birthday (tomorrow) I decided to put together a “The hubby’s birthday edition”. Today I am sharing 5 things about him that bring joy to my life.
My Handy Man
From fixing cars to building houses, this guy can do it all. He has easily saved us
hundreds thousands of dollars over the years. His latest venture is framing the house and DIY’ing as much as he possibly can. With some much appreciated help from his buddy Steve, things are going great so far. (Hi Steve)
Russ is the sprinkles to my donut! (A better analogy does not exist). He’s quick to keep me in check when I start to go off and I like to think that I do the same for him. Lately, with endless transitions in our life, balancing each other has been so helpful. I appreciate this part of our marriage now more than ever.
One of my biggest joys is seeing Russ open his Bible at the end of each day. I love that he takes his role of leading our family very seriously. It is such a blessing for me to be under his umbrella.
Sharp Dressed Man
Russ started his new position at work this week and it has been so much fun to see him dressed up everyday. I’ve probably told him how handsome he looks 5 times every single day this week and he is giving me all of the eye rolls. #cantstopwontstop
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Proverbs 11:2
I love that Russ has a humble heart. He never gives himself too much credit and he never plays the I told you so card. He doesn’t walk around with a sense of entitlement that he is owed anything. In a world full of silly school boys, he is a man.
Happy Birthday Russell!
I am so thankful to be celebrating another year of you!
So, what’s bringing you joy?
