Daily Dime, January 2018

One thing I’d like to do more of in 2018 is share our day-to-day life. The normal, not always very exciting, day in and day out. One of my favorite ways to do this is by sharing photos. While thinking out blog posts the planner in me put two and two together and penciled in a ‘Daily Dime’ post for every month in 2018.

The idea is simple: pick a day, take 10 photos, share them in a post. Easy enough right? Not always. Through trial and error I have learned that I really need to choose the day I document wisely. Because, nobody wants to see 10 photos of me watching Netflix in my pj’s. Not that I ever do that…

This months photos were taken on Sunday January 14th, 2018.

Dressed and ready for church I went out to start my car. I needed to be there early for worship team practice and by the time I got back inside, I learned that we might end up cancelling.

A few minutes later, church was cancelled. Marissa wanted to go outside with me to turn off the car so we snapped a snowy selfie.

I changed back into my pajamas and dove into a Bible reading plan that I wanted to start at the beginning of the year. The move had me a bit distracted, but I was able to catch back up. If you’re thinking my Bible looks a bit dirty, it is. I still find pieces of tornado debris in it nearly 6 years later. But it survived!

After reading I did some bird watching and spied that little Downy Woodpecker. One of our favorite things to do at Grandma and Papa’s house is bird-watch.

A certain little girl INSISTED on playing in the snow. We couldn’t blame her one bit either. It has been SO long since we’ve had a decent snow.

The snow stopped and measured in around 1.25″. Not impressive, but still exciting. Side note: we got even more snow on Monday!

I did some reading from a A Simplified Life. I’m not exactly plowing through this book… but life has been a teensy bit chaotic lately.

That afternoon we met the new owners and officially handed over the keys. It was such a bittersweet moment. I am so glad I thought to snap one last photo in front of what I will always consider “our house”.

Black and White Mocha anyone?! We really liked this drink. I was also embarrassingly excited about them still having holiday cups.

The rest of the day was spent playing games with the girls and eating leftovers for dinner.

It was a pretty perfect Sunday indeed.

  1. What a perfect Sunday! I LOVE that you still have your bible that survived the tornado. God is good my friend!

  2. From these pics I take away this: You’re beautiful, you’re smart, you’re fun and we’re a lot alike. I am still a little giddy to still get holiday cups too!

  3. What a great Sunday! I love that you still have your Bible from the tornado. I also love that you started the year in Genesis. I bet it is so much fun to watch all of those birds. Happy Tuesday!

  4. I love these posts! Wait, you’re on the worship team? How did I not know that? So cool, friend! I adore that snowy picture of you and pretty Miss M. I just got chills reading about how you still find tornado debris in your Bible almost 6 years later. Whoa. Just whoa. This Bible has to be so dear and precious to you. I can only imagine how bittersweet it was to hand over the keys to your home! But, new memories are on the horizon, friend. And they will be amazing. You should frame this family picture and put it in your new home. Sounds like a really good Sunday!

    1. Well, that is a fairly new development. But on occasion I sing. SO exciting and fun. I used to sing at church all the time but I haven’t for YEARS. It’s good to be doing that again. Worship is my fave. It was a pretty great Sunday indeed.

  5. I love this! We captured the same day, but yours looks way different than mine πŸ™‚ I love that last picture, you always take such good pictures. Makes me motivated to take better pictures πŸ™‚ Yay for the family selfie one last time, sniff, sniff. On to more adventures!

  6. These are my favorite posts! I need to jump on the daily dime bandwagon πŸ™‚ Yayyy for snow!! I bet the girls were stoked!!

  7. So many sweet moments! I love that you’re finding your new routine of bird watching and setting up your space in your temporary home. What a blessing. What is a Black and White Mocha? Never heard of it. And friend, your tornado stories always give me chills!! What a great reminder that God will take care of you through thick and thin.

  8. I enjoy seeing the Daily Dime posts because it gives a peek into all of the participants’ days! I like to document my days too, but I’ve made the mistake of picking a boring day before haha.

  9. Awesome Sunday indeed! I’m ready to sell our place but that will never happen so I’ll just keep changing things around here hahahaha!

  10. What a great day! We had a snow day(s) here in Savannah earlier in January, and those were special days, indeed! Crazy! Thanks for sharing your day with us! I’m stopping by from the Daily Dime Linkup. I liked this linkup so much that I shared my day too! I’ll be on time next month hopefully! (I’m a “retired” homeschool mom of two grown kiddos!)
