Friday Favorites 12.15.11

Hello Friday!
Hello almost Christmas break!

The past week has been busy, busy, busy and loaded with school work. You see, I goofed up. When I was making our schedule, months ago, I didn’t stop to think about how getting out a few days before Christmas might be enjoyable #duh. I had us working all the way through to the last-minute. Most schools around here dismiss on the 20th!!!

In order to “right my wrong” we have been doing school work the past two Fridays. Typically we are at co-op on Friday mornings but due to Christmas break, our schedule was free. I had hoped to spend that time having lazy Friday mornings… but that is NOT the case. However, it will be worth it all come Tuesday afternoon when we finish for the year!

20 weeks of school almost complete, 16 left to go!!!

Let’s take a look at this weeks Friday Favorites!

Back To Nature

I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com), May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms Meet blogger, I agree to use this product and post my honest opinion on my blog. The opinions posted are my own.

Tis the season to eat cookies. At least that’s what I say!

With the holiday hustle and bustle, and the chaos of building a house, there hasn’t been much time left for baking.

But thanks to Back to Nature, we are still snacking on some amazing cookies. Wheat flour and semisweet chocolate chunks go into these Non-GMO or Organic Certified cookies. This makes them a treat that the our whole family loves and one that I can feel good about too.

So if you find yourself shopping for some cookies for Santa, be sure to check out the delicious Back to Nature products!

Back to Nature is available to purchase at almost all major retailers. Find a retailer near you here!

Christmas Bucket List Progress

We are SLOWLY making progress on our Christmas Bucket List. One major thing we are failing at this year is watching Christmas movies. What in the world? We have usually watched ever single one, two or three times, by now.

Hopefully by next week we have made some major progress!

Favorite Things Party

Tonight I get to go to a favorite things party with the ladies from our church. The party starts at 7 and with an early morning of work the next day, I know I wont stay long. But getting out, even if it’s just for a little bit, will be nice.

If you’ve never been to a favorite things party the idea is simple. You bring an assigned amount of your favorite thing(s). For tonight’s party we chose 3. They can be different or identical, it doesn’t matter, but they need to be within a spending limit. We went with $4-5 each.

When you arrive at the party you write your name on slips of paper. Since we assigned 3 gifts each, we’ll each do three slips. You take turns explaining what you brought & why you love it. Then you draw 3 names and 3 lucky ladies get to take your gifts home. In the end you leave the party with 3 different gifts.

I LOVE these parties. They are so much better than white elephant exchanges and the perfect ladies get together, especially at Christmas.

Simply Earth, Simply Christmas

I received this product in exchange for my honest review, all opinions are my own.

I was so excited when my friends at Simply Earth reached out to me wanting to know if I’d like to work together again.

First off, let me say that their products not only made me love oils, but they taught me how to use them too.

Let me explain…

Simply Earth offers monthly subscription boxes delivered to your door. Each box comes loaded with 4 oils, random supplies, and recipes showing you fun and creative ways you can use your oils. Over the past year I have collected the recipes, mixed, matched, modified and I feel a whole new confidence when it comes to knowing how to get the most out of my oils.

I also love the story behind this company. Simply Earth is a small company that was founded by two brothers, and their wives, with a passion to help make it easy and affordable to make your home natural. They are a small business with a big heart. A big heart that wants to serve their customers and give back. One way they do this is by giving 13% of their profits to help end human trafficking.

Before I had even tried their product, I was so excited about their values and the mission they are on.

Their latest box has a Christmas theme and is loaded with holiday smells and ideas, like the peppermint lib scrub.

If you are interested in trying out Simply Earth you can save BIG simply by using my coupon code, OPLGBLOGFREE. Referrals who use this code will get a $40 gift card emailed to them after subscribing to their first box (subscription on the box can be cancelled anytime).

So what are you waiting for?
Check them out!

  • I so wish I could use oils, but since they are toxic to cats I steer clear. 🙁 I’m loving all of your IG pictures… which reminds me I forgot to post mine yesterday! Brb… 😉

    • Ah yes, we used to have several things that we avoided too growing up, like poinsettias. Baha ha! Mine today was less than festive, but I got one posted!

    • This year has just been so different. I am sure you can totally relate. We spent all day today framing at the house, but we did come home and watch Elf with the girls. I am just a bit worried everything will all blur together and nothing will be enjoyable. Maybe I really should chose to celebrate my half birthday this year :P.

  • Lizzie Simantz

Totally worth it to work extra hard to get some more time off! Brayden doesn’t get off until next Friday which is kind of a bummer, but the girls will be done by Wednesday. Those cookies look soooooooo good!! And your Christmas card turned out great!

    • That is a bummer, but that makes sense! The kids in our town are out of school WAY too much in my opinion. I don’t see how in the world they make that work. But it’s not my place to judge I suppose :P. Thank you friend.

  • Your christmas card is so beautiful! And love essential oils! The favourite thigns party sounds so festive

    • It is so festive and SO fun. They are a really fun party to have anytime of the year really. I hope you and your sweet family are having an amazing weekend.

  • Oh my goodness, that might be the most fabulous mix of essential oils I’ve ever seen! I have been thinking about trying oils for quiet some time, but now that I’ve stopped working and we’re on a very tight budget, that probably won’t be happening any time soon! Enjoy your party tonight… you deserve some time for yourself!

    • I totally understand how that goes friend. I’ve been there for the past 7 years, lolololol. Thank you so much. It was really good to get out and I think I may be getting out for a little bit again tomorrow. Which I totally earned after framing walls all day.

  • I wish I had a favourite things party to go to! Have a great weekend!

    • I wish you could come to mine! You should totally have one with your gal pals sometime, christmas or not. You guys would have a blast.

  • Those cookies look delicious! I really need to start a Favorite Things party. That sounds like so much fun!

    • They are SO much fun! You totally need to have one with your friends. Happy weekend Stefanie!

  • I want to have a Favorite Things party!

    • You should! It is by far my favorite kind of party to attend.

  • I think I will host a Favorite things party in the spring. That would make for a really fun MNO option.

    • It would be SO much fun. I love the idea of doing one in the spring or the fall or the summer… pretty much any time possible.

  • Whitney Jordan

Those cookies look so good!! Hope you have a great time at your favorite things party. Good idea to work hard to get to your Christmas break a little earlier.

    • Yes! As soon as we finish school on Tuesday I am boxing up the whole school room. So getting done sooner than later allows me to pack that stuff up, and allows us to have time to bake too!

  • Those cookies look so yummy! I love that CD! I love traditional Christmas music. That picture of your added sparkles makes me swoon! Have a great weekend!

    • Sparkles are just so much fun! I never realized how big of a difference they make in decorations, but they really do. I am totally with you on the traditional music. I enjoy all kinds, but you just can’t go wrong with Crosby.

  • I don’t know which is my favorite thing either! The Rudolph scent, the sparkle, church parties and hitting Target! I think all of them 🙂 You guys have hit a lot of things on your bucket list. Keep on keeping!

    • We are TRYING! We watched Elf tonight! That was one more thing off the list. We have been so very, very busy working, we have had to make some time to play too.

  • Heather Bramlett

I need to check out those oils!
    Those cookies…oh my!
Hope y’all are having a great weekend!

    • Definitely check the oils out. They have been a lot of fun and something to look forward too.

I hope your super fun weekend has been so good. We worked all day long over here. Maybe tomorrow will bring more rest and fun.

  • That oil box is simply awesome! I must add that to my One Day List. I fell asleep to White Christmas last night. It was nice. (The movie.) I hope your weekend is fun and festive. Big hugs! xo

    • Oh man, that would be nice! The girls and I started watching it yesterday. We usually break it up into two parts because it is kind of long.

We spent our whole day framing walls, UGH! I don’t think our house will ever be done.

  • Maria.T @simplyearth

    Thank you so much

  • That subscription box looks like fun! I caught myself looking at Oils at Marshalls the other day since my YL membership expired!

    • I noticed that TJ Max had them too. The boxes are a lot of fun to get in the mail.
