Friday Favorites 6.23.17

Hello Friday!

This week FLEW by friends. With only about 6 weeks left until we start school, (Oh. My. Goodness) I feel summer break slipping through my fingers and I don’t like it one little bit. But the only thing left to do, is to live it up all the more. We have to take advantage of every moment that we can. And that is exactly what we intend to do.

Let’s take a look at this weeks Friday 5

Pinterest 5

My friend Amanda over at Cardio Cab and a Keyboard started a really fun link-up yesterday and I wanted to join in. Be sure to check it out and save her graphic so you can play along in the coming months.

What Summer DIY pins can you find?!

Photo Rut

Lately I’ve really been in a photo rut. I am picking up my DSLR less and less and my postings on IG have been far from consistent. I am not sure if it is summer or what, but I am feeling like I am in a serious creative rut.

Anyone else?

If you happen to be feeling less than inspired too, come back Monday for a fun mini summer photo challenge. I think it is just what I need to get me going again.

Letter Board Love

I have been wanting a letter board for months now, literally months. But I just couldn’t get myself to spend the money on one. I decided I would make one, as an attempt to be frugal, but the good letters I was finding would cost $20-30 alone. That didn’t feel very frugal. So, I put it off… until this week.

Thanks to Becky @ bybmg I found this letter-board for 9.97 at Wal-Mart! I kinda wish the frame on it was black, but that is nothing that my expert spray painter aka Russ can’t fix. I am SO happy to have a letter-board, finally. And I’m so excited that I waited and snagged this one for less than $10

Photos with Dad

The girls snapped a few photos with Russ on Fathers day and I just had to share them.

Funny story, we took a few photos and when we came in I looked a them and giggled. Russ asked why and I told them he looked angry in them. He said it’s my beard, I can never tell if I am smiling too much or not enough (Uh huh, sure mister  😆 😉 .) He then insisted we retake them so he could look happier in the pictures. So we did, of course. There is never a dull moment around here.

Much better, don’t you think?

Friday Link-ups

  • That link up looks like fun! Love the picture of the dad with the girlies!!!

  • Jessica

A s’more pot is genius. Love that idea. Ha ha, the after photo is definitely better than the before. So sweet that he wanted to do better. Have a great weekend!

    • Isn’t it?! I mean the pot would get hot, but it is probably just as safe as a huge fire! I thought it was sweet too.

  • Lizzie Simantz

You found a letter board for $10!!!! I am stalking my WalMart today LOL. I’m way too cheap to spend $40-$60 on one, but $10 I can do! Love that pic of Russ and the girls! xo

    • IKR?!?! That is EXACTLY how I have felt too. I really want to have Russ paint it black. I may go for it this weekend and have him spray the frame. I found mine on and end cap in the craft area, good luck.

  • Living on Cloud Nine

I want a letter board too!! A new super Wal-mart just opened in our area so I am on the Hunt!! Aww daddy and his so precious!! Hope your weekend is as wonderful as you are!!

    • Thank you so much! Check out the walmart today and look by the craft area. I found mine on an end cap. Good luck friend!

  • I have totally been in a photo rut, so I’m looking forward to your photo challenge!! Next month I’d like to make it a point to use my DSLR everyday (and try to use it for non bloggy things).

    • I have got to pick mine up more often too. I’ve just gotten so lazy lately. It’s kind of nice, but I miss the photos.

  • Heather Bramlett

Can’t wait to see the photo challenge, I’m in the same rut!
Love the pictures of Russ and the girls!! So glad you got a letter board! I need to use my more!

    • So glad to hear its not just me. I’ve changed ours a few times but Marissa is having more fun with it than I am. Maybe Ella would be the same?

  • Hey friend! So I had to work all week and I’m stoked to catch up today on your blog. Thanks for your Pin 5! I’ll link over to it. The smores pots are pretty freaking awesome, right? I need to try that and plan to maybe in July. I saw those letterbox things at Walmart. Can you change it out or is it permanant? I know, I live under a rock. I need to get to taking more photos myself so I’ll be checking into the challenge! HAPPY WEEKEND! Off to blog stalk you…hahahaha!

    • July would be great. My girls have been BEGGING me to make s’mores and this is a super fun way of doing it. I’ve also seen people use those things they use to keep catered dishes hot too. You can change them out however many times you want, super fun and easy. I hope y’all had a great weekend I managed to stock you on IG a bit.

  • Cat @

I am also in such a creative rut. It’s not helping that we’ve been sick almost all month long and I’ve only had energy for the bare minimum like heating up soup and making store runs for medicine and juice. Ugh. Here’s to hoping we get the creative spark back soon!

    • So sorry to hear you have been so sick. That really stinks girl.

  • Okay, it’s time I get a letter board. I’m sure there is a Walmart trip in my future this weekend so I will have to snag one. Love the father daughter photos!

    • I hope you found one Trista, and that you had a great weekend too!

  • Yay for the summer photo challenge!

  • Stop it right now… a letter board for only $10?! I knew it was just a matter of time before Walmart tried to capitalize on this trend!

    • Which is pretty freaking amazing. I honestly thought it would’ve been Target… but whatev, I am so happy.

  • Haha the before/after cracks me up! And the letter board! Yayyyyyy! That’s a fun idea to repaint the frame!

    • I think so too. I need to have Russ check it out and see what he things. Some black would just make it pop more or if it’s a normal sized frame I could spare the work and just find a cheap one at Hobby Lobby or something.

  • I gotta pencil in Amanda’s link up- totally fun concept!

    • It is a fun idea…. but I think she maybe scratched the idea of making it an actual link-up which kinda bums me out a bit.

  • I need to go check out that letter board…..I have been hesitant to invest until I could try it out and know I would actually use it!! Love, love, love that Russ wanted to retake the pictures…that is just the most precious!! Happy, happy Friday lady! Hope you guys have an amazing weekend.

    • Yes you do. Even if I would actually use it some of those are just SO expensive, I just can’t bring myself to spend that much on that. But that is just how I roll. He is such a goof, he really should smile more, lol. Our weekend was spent tearing cars apart and staring at house plans. Oh to be a kid again.

  • I got the same letter board last week!! Its hanging in the girls room 🙂 I want to spray paint the frame too but am undecided on what color…

    • Yeah I am feeling the same way about that too. I might just do black, make it pop more without committing to a color.

  • Russ does look angry in the first photo and he is anything but!

    • Isn’t that funny. He is such a mess. Glad he wanted to redo it.

  • Whitney Jordan

Fun week! I’m on the hunt for that letter board this week. Thanks for all the tips 🙂 Those Father’s Day photos are sweet even the serious one because the girls are smiling so big.

    • Best of luck friend. Thank you, thank you. We love our guy around here.

  • That Pinterest link-up sounds like a ton of fun. Some friends and I used to host a “I’d pin that” link up many years ago when Pinterest first came out. So fun! I’m in a photo rut as well. It’s been hectic around here…mostly work and no play. I’m hoping to change that while on vacation! I have been searching my Walmart like crazy for a letter board and can’t find them. Ugh! What department did you find it in? Those pictures of the girls and Russ are precious! Love the before and after.

    • I sent you and email about the letter board, I hope it went through.

Oh the days when Pinterest was new. Seems like forever ago.

  • lol the before and after pic is my fave =)

    • It is pretty great. We’ll laugh about that some day.
