Friday Highlights 11.18

Hello Friday!

Y’all we are less than a week away from Thanksgiving?! I feel like all month long the anticipation of the Holiday season has been building and I simply can’t believe that it is finally almost here. I’m also in slight panic mode too. I had grand plans of being all kinds of prepared and organized before Christmas ever arrived and right now, I feel everything but that. Oh well, I still have time, right?!

Let’s take a look at this weeks highlights.

Emily Update

Oh my goodness, we received the best news ever.

In August we went to see a specialist about Emily’s (put simply) crossed eyes. We were told everything the previous Dr. had done to treat her for 4 months was useless, (talk about a gut punch) prescribed new glasses, and told to hope and pray for the best. At this point surgery seemed inevitable.

Once she had adjusted to her new glasses, we saw a huge change. I know so many of you have noticed a difference too. But until the Dr. said you’re good, we still had a lingering worry hanging over our heads.

We went to our follow up appointment Wednesday and the Dr. was shocked, almost to tears right along with me. “This was unexpected.” “These results were highly unlikely.” “This is amazing!” On and on and on. The Dr. was amazed at the progress she had made and how well she was seeing. Now we are relieved to say that eye surgery is officially off the table, praise God! As I type this my eyes are filled with tears. I am so thankful my sweet EE doesn’t have to go through surgery. I am filled with appreciation for our NP who said “No, this is not right” and pushed to clear the way to get her to a specialist. In my gut I know that these “unexpected results” were nothing short of the hand of God.

We are officially just on a maintenance schedule now. She’ll go back every 6 months for a while until she is a bit older. We are still praying that eventually her eyes wont cross when she takes her glasses off. But honestly, she is so blind without them odds are she won’t be taking them off except to sleep.

Thank you SO much for your support over the past 7 months.

Fala la la la, the time is here

I have waited ever so patiently and today I will wait no more!

Somehow I resisted the urge to decorate last weekend. But today? Today, today is the day my house looks like a train wreck while I begin the decorating process. I’m sure y’all know how that mess feels. SO much work, but totally worth it. The girls and I are so excited to get started after co-op today. With 6 trees, odds are it will take us all of Friday and most of Saturday too. And that is being optimistic.

Wish me luck!

Tis’ the season to bake

If you’ve been reading along for anything over a week, you know I LOVE to bake. Baking is something that I have been doing since I was a little kid. Grant it I probably made more messes than anything back then. But ever since I can remember, I remember being in the kitchen.

I love passing what I love on to my girls. Lately we have been baking like crazy thanks to Betty Crocker cookie mixes. They are the perfect way to spend time in the kitchen with my girls and do something we all love TOGETHER.

With the holidays coming, plan to bake up a few memories of your own.
Check out all the Betty has to offer.

Just in case you missed it, I have an awesome giveaway going on right now!

How about $150 in PayPal cash?
With Christmas just around the corner,  a little extra spending money would be so nice. The giveaway runs through midnight on 11/22. Just in time for your Black Friday shopping.

  • Praise for the news on Emily!! That is amazing. You know baking with my girl is one of my faves too. She actually asked for a cake decorating kit for Christmas.

I’m so jealous your Christmas decor is up! I keep asking to put ours up, but it’s not happening until the Sunday after Thanksgiving. *sobs*

    • It took me several years to “break” Russ ;). Any more with 6 trees to decorate, and things after Thanksgiving being so busy, it just takes way too long. The news about Emily was SO relieving friend. Happy Sunday!

  • Whitney Jordan

What an answer to prayer!! I got goosebumps reading about the doctor’s reaction to Emily’s eyes. What a sweet girl!! Hope your house is coming together perfectly for Christmas. Can’t wait to see how it all turned out 🙂

    • It was so awesome friend. I know SO many people have been praying for a report like we received. I can’t wait to share it. Every year I add a little bit more!

  • I am so happy for Emily. She has been such a trooper with those glasses and the appointments.

  • chall1018

I can’t believe how much Mason and Emily’s eye stories are alike. We too pursued a ‘treatment’ for months only to hear that it was completely unnecessary! I am praising Jesus that Emily’s eyes have corrected without the need for surgery! What a blessing. Mason and I started deckin’ our halls today. Now I just want to sit on the couch with a cup of coffee and enjoy it…for hours on end!!! I love that you girls spend such sweet time together in the kitchen. They will remember this when they are older!

    • That is just the craziest thing, right?!

I hope y’all had a blast. I spent my whole afternoon running errands like a crazy woman. No fun, no fun.
