Wishing //

That the start of the school year wasn’t 11 days away. How in the world is it ONLY 11 days away?! Where did our summer break go?!

Looking Forward To //

Celebrating anniversary #9 with the Mr. in less than a month. 9 years have gone by so quickly. I guess time flies when you’re having fun.

Listening to //

I can not get this song out of my head.

Drinking //

Water, water, water, coffee and Gold Peak Green Tea.

Eating //

WAY too much junk food. I remember saying “Oh it’s so much easier to eat healthy during the summer” I guess I set out to prove that wrong this summer. It probably has something to do with the pounds of ice cream I am consuming…. oops!

But, I am FINALLY starting to get some good crops from the garden. Maybe that will help!

Counting //

The days until school starts
The days until the HAMB Drags
The days until vacation
The days until fall starts
AND the days until it is time to decorate for Christmas!

I am counting… a lot!

Praying //

For so much.

Emily’s eyes, peace through hard situations, the upcoming school year, and that we would make connections at church. I feel like those things just barely scratch the surface.

Missing //

Is it okay to be missing long summer days before they are even over?

As much as I hate to admit it, I do miss having a routine. But I need to add in some getting out and about to our routine this school year to avoid things feeling like Groundhogs Day.

Learning //

How to do vision therapy exercises with Emily. It pretty much consists of just playing “games” with her but it really takes up time in our day and she doesn’t always love to do it either.

Planning //

The 2016/2017 school year. I just wrapped up lesson plans for our school year and I am pretty excited! There are so many new things to do with the girls this year. I know we are going to have a blast playing and learning together.

Enjoying //

All things summer!!!

Summer time with my girls is my favorite. All of the special days and nothing days add up to some pretty great memories that are impossible to beat or forget.

Cow Appreciation Day is always a MOO-arvulous time πŸ„! #chickfila #cowappreciationday #moo #NewmanSummer2016 #cow

Watching //

We are currently in the awkward Netflix limbo. We watched and finished Better Call Saul and we FINALLY watched the new season of House of Cards *woah!* Now we just sit and search the que, unable to find anything we really want to watch. First world problems, right?!

Wearing //

More color and patterns all the time. I even did my first ever fashion post yesterday! Although in the spirit of honesty I’ll confess that most day are spent in work out shorts or bathing suits. Oh how I love you summer!

I have also been wearing this AWESOME hat I found at Wal-Mart.

What have you been up to currently?

  • Amy Smith

We are really into crime dramas such as NCIS, Criminal Minds, How to Get Away with Murder & I just started The Blacklist. Talk about intense. I can’t believe how fast an episode goes!

    • OOoooohhh! I bet we would LOVE The Blacklist. We really like intense shows. Thanks for mentioning it!

  • Meghan Flinn

I’m so with you on the eating. I used to say the same thing about it being easier to eat better in the summer… I guess I forgot about my obsession with ice cream too! And I agree with planning more outings for the school year… I love your comparison to it starting to feel like Groundhog Day otherwise!

    • It used to be hard to go out but now it just isn’t there is no reason why we couldn’t take our school work with us to Starbucks or SOMETHING just to get out and about every once in a while. The thing I dread the most is just being stuck in our house ALL the time. I totally have the power to change that and I should.

  • I have been off the wagon this summer as well!!! But look at your garden spoils! Well done, girlie!!

    • Well at least it sounds like we aren’t the only ones. I think that is the thing I am most looking forward too with the arrival of the school. Isn’t that pitiful?! Thank you! I just picked LOADS of tomatoes yesterday.

  • I still want that hat! I really liked this recent season of House of Cards!

    • I wear it all the time, you should totally just go get it!

Man this season was INTENSE. It totally didn’t expect him to get shot and they really set up the next season to be even more intense. How is that even possible?!

  • 11 days??? That’s no fun! Hope you have a great last 11 days and enjoy every last second of it.

  • Hubs and I will be celebrating our 9th anniversary this year, too! Yay for 2007 weddings! Happy early anni to you guys!

    • Aaaawwww that is so much fun! I still question what the heck we were thinking when we decided to get married in August…. but you know. We probably weren’t. Thanks friend.

  • It’s nice to have things to look forward to! Fall and Christmas and vacations and school! Your summer seems very short. I feel like mine is never ending with the heat. I keep blaming the baby for my skittles intake.

    • It does seem short but only because it starts before summer actually starts. We wrapped up on April 28th!!! So we’ve been out for 3 months now. Oh those books are calling our names. Mmmm Skittles.

  • I am so with you on loving Summer and not wanting it to end!!!
Those therapy exercises aren’t always much fun. When Liam gets frustrated we take a step back and let him do what he wants for a bit before resuming.
The last season of House of Cards was AMAZING!
Love your hat. You’re killing it with the Walmart finds these days!

    • Yes! I really need to do a better job of spacing it through the day… but oh my word it is hard to squeeze in during crazy summer schedules. I am so sure you know all about that though.

It was SO good I kind of had a freak out when he got shot. I gasped and just sat there with my jaw hanging wide open. Can’t even imagine how intense the next season will be.

Walmart is killing my budget :P.

  • You have been busy! I love the harvest you have gotten from your garden! I can’t wait to get some yummy things from ours. The picture of you and the girls for the Cow Appreciation Day is great. Did you know I’ve never been to a Chick-Fil-A?! There closest one is 17 miles away….and I think its kinda new…

    • My brain almost just exploded. Chick-Fil-A is totally worth the 17 mile drive friend… especially if you are already out. The kids will love the play place and it is such a great atmosphere. If you have never been you must order the original chicken sandwich and do a blog post because it is THAT big of a deal :P.

  • Those are the cutest little cows ever! Happy anniversary to you! I loved the pictures you posted the other day of your wedding location. We got married outside in July… it sounded like a good idea when we planned it in February!
Praying for sweet Emily’s eye and for your church home. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to worship, but I have no doubt you’ll find your faith family soon.

    • I know, right?! Who does this stuff and what in the heck were we thinking. Everyone was dying of heat, lol.

      Thank you so much friend.

  • Kinsey goes to school in 7 days!!! I’m freaking out lol. I have a huge prayer list going too, friend. I am beyond envious of your harvest! I think I’ll plant more next year.

    • I am freaking out for you! That is just so early friend. I always plant way too much. I need to go back to starting my own seeds next year and I won’t feel so guilty for not using everything I buy. I hate that the plants come in 4 packs but I may only want 1!

      • I think having more than one of each plant is a good thing. Ive been waiting FOREVER it feels like and only now have three ripe tomatoes. Do your friends garden? Maybe you can do a plant swap?

  • So fun. I’m already missing summer and it’s not even over. I’m regretting that we booked Henry for a morning camp next week because he will miss out on any morning fun we have…

    • Aaaawwww. I would totally feel the same way. I am so glad that our VBS weeks come pretty early because those last weeks of summer I want to spend together. I bet he has so much fun though.

  • Desiree @ Macke Monologues

Your summer has been so fun! It’s crazy to think school is just around the corner.
Let’s also talk about that hat! It (literally) speaks my language.
Keep it up with Emily, I know you’re both doing everything you can for that little lady and her vision.

    • Isn’t that hat THE best. For $5 I would’ve had serious regret if I had passed it up. We are doing our best, thanks girl.

  • chall1018

Oh my word! The girls in the cow costumes – so cute! Please tell me you got free Chick Fil A? We love the song Good, Good Father. They actually played it during worship at church this past Sunday. And to sit there and watch Mason sing every word brought tears to my eyes. We have talked about that song so many times and the meaning of it. And friend, he is a Good, Good Father! I will be praying those things with you. For Netflix – have you heard of Stranger Things? So many people have been talking about that one lately. I don’t know much about it, just keep seeing it pop up on random scrolls through Facebook or Snapchat. That hat is awesome! Good find.

    • We totally did :). I’ll have to check that Netflix one out, thanks! We have been singing it at church too. Probably a reason why I can’t get it out of my head :). Truth in the words is good for my soul especially with the rocky relationship I’ve had with my earthly father lately :(.

      • chall1018

I am so so sorry you have had a rocky relationship with your earthly father! I will be praying for that situation. BIG hugs my sweet friend!

  • Sadly, I feel like it’s hard for me to eat healthy all year long! LOL. I always want ice cream during the summer.. and well all the time because it’s never cold here. And then during the holidays there is just so much good food! Everything in moderation as they say? That’s my motto at least πŸ™‚

    • Totally! I just always suck at the moderation part. I need someone to serve me all my food and lock the pantry and refrigerator to keep me from getting more :P.

  • I have been eating out more since we’ve been so busy in the morning with swim lessons. I try and make good use of our time out and about yet I end up going through a drive thru for lunch. I’m hoping to do less of that this month.

    • Good luck friend. I have been eating junkier snacks since we’ve been out and about too. All that will be changing soon though. Can’t believe it’s our last week of summer.
