Friday Highlights 2016 V13

Hello Friday!

What a week friends! We’ve been eating all the Easter Candy and running to Dr. appointments in between. I am so, so glad that the weekend is here and this crazy week is just about over (more on that below).

Weekend plans consist of running a race, a trip to the shooting range, a car show and doing a little bit of blogging and cleaning. So things should be pretty exciting around here which will be a nice change after a few lazy weekends in a row.

Also today I was lucky enough to be picked as the featured blogger for High Five for Friday, one of my favorite weekly link-ups. Make sure you stop by Tif, Katie, Della or Caitlin‘s blogs to join the Friday fun!

{TWO} Amazing GRace

Saturday I am doing my first race since October. This time the distance is a 5K and I am not the only Newman running it. Marissa (7) is running her very first 5K!!!I think it is pretty much the coolest thing ever that at 7 she will accomplish something I didn’t do until I was 29.

amazing grace
She has always proven herself to be quite the “gazelle” in the years past and her longest run to date is just a bit over 2 miles. I am excited to see how she does over 3.1. I’ll definitely share about that next week.

Last year I ran the Amazing GRace with Russ, you can see how that went HERE.

{THREE} Emily Elizabeth

What a week our sweet EE had. This could (and will) be a blog post in itself, I definitely have more to share in time. But for now I want to say “hug those babies a little tighter.” Early this week a very minor, light bump on the head gave us a huge scare as we rushed our baby off to the ER with crossed eyes and double vision. We went through a CT scan, a few dr. appt’s and ended up with a very treatable diagnosis. To put things simply she needs glasses.

This week I saw our sweet girl be so brave and fearless. She stole the hearts of many with her curly hair and happy, care free outlook on life. Just when you think you couldn’t love someone more you find out that you can. We have one more Dr appt on Monday and should have a treatment plan after that.

We’ve been giving updates on Facebook and your support has been overwhelming.
Thank you so much for your kind words and prayers.

{FOUR} This Song

Oh this song, it has been the song of my heart all week long.

{FIVE} Chunky Monkey Bars

My friend Whitney shared this recipe a couple of weeks ago and I am not sure if I should write her a thank you note or if I should be mad at her instead.

These bars are amazing friends. So, SO good. Make sure you go check out the recipe, pin it, and tell Whitney hello and congratulations while you are at it. She just had a sweet baby boy on Tuesday!

    Evelina @ Fortunate House

  • How cool that Marissa is running a 5K!!! I’ve been keeping Emily in my prayers.

    • Isn’t that really cool?! Thank you so much friend, it is very appreciated.

  • Amen. Squeeze those babies a little tighter! You never know what might happen and thankfully what happened to Emily was not worse. THANK GOODNESS. And how funny that it lead you to this diagnosis. (well not funny, but I wonder if you would have known that she needed glasses if this weren’t to have happened? I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and maybe this was God’s way of letting you know? We will never know.) SO GLAD she’s ok though!!!

    • Yes, yes, yes. Everything you said is exactly how I feel. The bump was scary, but had it not happened how much longer would this have gone undetected?! So much to be thankful for.
