My Month In Numbers, May 2016

Hello Monday!

Things are extra chipper around here for a Monday. I REALLY don’t like Mondays. But, we had a great weekend of recovering from the craziness that May brought and it is finally VBS week. My girls have been looking forward to this week since the day last years ended in June 2015. It is definitely a summer highlight for us. 

Today I thought I would kick off our Monday by looking at all of the numbers that added up to one fun and busy May!

Monthly Goals, May 2016

gOALS

Another month of goals is over. I have been setting goals for about 16 months now on the blog and I still love it just as much as I did when I started. It really helps me to stay on track, focused, and have accountability to get the things I want to accomplish done through the month. I have yet to mark everything off my list and I honestly doubt that will ever happen. That is okay with me.

So many people have said that they enjoy these post and would love to set goals too. I want to encourage you to do just that. You can even join the With Grit & Grace link-up. There is more info on that at the bottom of this post.

Let’s take a look at last month.

April

Blog-
*Keep posting 4-5 days a week.
*Work on my Pinterest strategy and growing followers to 1,000.

Done. So 947 is so not 1,000. Note even if I round. The truth is more important things came up than researching my Pinterest game. I can try again.

Family-
*Family movie night.
*Family outing (walk, donut date, something).
*Go to a car show.

So I feel like we watched a movie, but for the life of me I can not remember if that is true or not. So yeah, I’m gonna go with no. We did however enjoy the weather more than once and hit up a car show. Being outside this time of the year is WAY better than watching a movie anyways.

Fitness-
*Run a 5K.
*Get serious about half-marathon training.
*4-5 workouts a week.
*Improve my diet more this month.

Marissa and I ran a 5K back at the beginning of the month and I logged more miles this month than I have in a LONG time. However, I still don’t think I managed to meet my workout goal and I did my fair share of stress eating over Emily’s eye issues this past month. At least I have room to improve in May!

Spiritual- 
*Pray more as a family.
*Start reading something.
*Attend Sunday School at church.

We have been praying more, both out of need and desire. I also BARELY managed to start reading something but as for Sunday School, we didn’t go a single week #fail.

Home School-
*Survive academic testing week.
*Begin wrapping up subjects at the end of the month.
*Complete project fair assignments.

Done, done, done! Shwoo! Did I mention that we are officially on summer break starting today? I just wanted to rub that in mention it one more time.

Random-
*3-4 Girl nights.
*Trip to the shooting range.
*Finish and participate in the consignment sale.
*Date night.
*Take the 37 Ford Russ built for a drive.

I think I actually went to the range twice, consignment sale was a success, we took a date night, and the 37 is complete. My main fail here was the girls nights. I only managed to get in two this month.

April honestly went much better than I expected it to goal wise, especially seeing the curve ball we were thrown with Emily’s eye stuff all happening so suddenly. Hopefully next month will be less eventful.

May

Blog-
*Keep posting 4-5 days a week.
*Work on my Pinterest strategy and growing followers to 1,000. (Take two)
*Reformat 50 blog posts since my WordPress transition.

Family-
*Go to a car show.
*Family milk shake or donut date
*Do something spontaneous?!

Fitness-
*Complete half marathon #5
*4-5 workouts a week.
*Get diet in strict check this month.

Spiritual- 
*”Summer” morning devotions with girls. 
*Continue reading.

Home School-
* Start lesson planning for 2016/2017
* Shop for some used curriculum that I need

Random-
*Work on our spring bucket list
*Date night.
*Get out of town
*Two Girls Nights

Project Sunday 2015 {May}

At the beginning of the year I set a goal to take one photo every Sunday. It is now five months later I am still going strong! Last week I finally recapped the month of April and this week I am getting all caught up and posting May.

Let’s look back over the first 4 months.

2015 really is flying by!
Both of these dresses easily make my favorites list. Marissa’s ombre dress from Children’s Place and Emily’s super cute floral from Gymboree. I just love both of them. 
This has been Emily’s go to pose with her sister lately. Clinging her arms around her waist. 
Love those sweet sisters.

They both asked to wear cheap beads to church and I caught myself starting to say no. I then asked myself why I was saying no and came up with no good reason. So instead, I said go for it! It is always so good for me (and them) when I realize I don’t need to be the fun police. 

I love that Emily is getting a bit more comfortable around the camera. I just know the day will soon come when taking photos of these girls is a cinch.

Side note I am not sure what they are doing (or looking at) in the bottom picture but it sure is cute!

This week brings a bit of sas and some beautiful smiles. Emily thought she was pretty hilarious this particular morning.

Both of the girls are wearing necklaces that belonged to me when I was a little girl. I love having special things like this around to share with them. Thanks for keeping that stuff mom :). 

I simply can not get enough of our pretty little girls.

This photo project has definitely had it’s share of tough moments or weeks that they did not want to take another picture but I can already tell I am going to look back on these photos at the end of the year, smile and be ready to start clicking again in 2016.

Monthly Goals {May 2015}

With April packed full another month went by so fast. I made my goals for the month and never gave them a second thought. I guess I really should start printing the list off so I remember what they are. 

Let’s see how I did.

 Blog-

*Continue blogging 4-5 days a week. 

*Grow my Instagram account to at least 500 followers. I feel this one isn’t really possible… but who knows, I might as well try!

*Write a Q&A post on homeschooling & my gallery wall, that is finally “complete.”

DONE! 

I can’t believe I grew my Instagram that much. I am actually REALLY close to 600!

Family-

*Work on completing our spring bucket list.
*Have at least 2 Family evening walks/bike rides.

*Have one movie night with the girls.

 

DONE!
The spring bucket list isn’t done yet. But we still have until the first day of summer to mark them all off! 


Fitness-

*Exercise at least 5 days a week including my 3 runs.

*Finish my half training and complete my first of 2 half marathons this summer.

*Run the Amazing Grace with Russell.
*Do a one mile fun run with Marissa and Emily.

*Keep logging calories on My Fitness Pal

I almost got all of these. I logged for over half the month on MFP then I stopped. I am planning to pick this back up after I finish my May 16th half marathon


Spiritual- 

*Pray more. For my girls, my husband and that God would help us to find a new church home.

*Start reading again, again. Praying I would hunger for words of truth.

*Listen to more worship music. Find some “kids” worship music for the girls. 

Always my biggest struggle. Marissa and I did a lot of reading in the bible this past month for Easter. It was really good. At one point I was reading a story to her in the Jesus Storybook Bible (the best kids Bible EVER) and I was so overcome by emotion I couldn’t even read. I just sat there and cried. Man, I hope my girls don’t think I am crazy. 

Home School-

*Enjoy the rest of spring break!

*Finish strong, May 7th is coming fast.

*Have more fun.

We definitely had more fun this past month and guess what, who needs May 7th?! We finished early. TODAY is our last day of first grade!


Random-

*Finish my first photography course… this IS the month

*Continue garden planning and prep.

*Make Finish a new pallet sign.

*Have a girls night out with my BFF

I officially give up on ever finishing that course…. it just isn’t going to happen friends.
The garden was planted 
this weekend.

I am still feeling uninspired to finish my sign.
On Good Friday the BFF and I got some hang out time in, it was good like always. 


 Blog-

*Continue blogging 4-5 days a week.

*Grow my Instagram account to at least 650 followers.

* Support Keri from Living In This Season during her E-book launch. So excited for her.

Family-

*Finish our spring bucket list.
*Get a pool pass, go swimming!!!

*Milk shake date as a family at least once.


Fitness-

*Exercise at least 5 days a week including my 3 runs.

*Finish my last half marathon for this year on May 16th.

*Do another one mile fun run with Marissa and Emily.

*Start “The New Rules” weight program later this month. 

*Buckle down on my diet when I start my new exercise program.


Spiritual- Same as last month

*Pray more. For my girls, my husband and that God would help us to find a new church home.

*Start reading again, again. Praying I would hunger for words of truth.

*Listen to more worship music. Find some “kids” worship music for the girls. 

Home School-

*Enjoy our very deserved summer break.
*Start lesson planning for the 2015/2016 school year.


Random-

*Try and plan a mini vacation.

*Make Finish a new pallet sign.

*Work on mini home make-over stuff.

*Have friends over to grill out.

May is going to be an interesting month. Our schedule is finally free for the first time in 9 months. School work is done, Bible study, co-op & Awana are over. We are no longer held to a daily routine! I am also getting ready to make some major changes to my diet/ exercise program as well. The freedom of summer and some challenging changes are in store for this month. I couldn’t possibly be more excited though.

I am Praying God uses this month to refresh our family and challenge us to grow!
