2016 Christmas Ornament Show & Tell Linkup

When you have 6 Christmas trees you have a lot of ornaments.

The ornaments on our bedroom tree are fancy glass balls that break if you drop them (trust me). The girls’ tree are decorated with whatever they like, which is currently lots of pink, blue, and candy ornaments. The schoolroom tree has several ornaments that the girls have made as well as ones that they are given. On the front porch you’ll find plastic balls in red, silver and gold. But my favorite is the living room. Our living room tree is full of ornaments with meaning. First ornaments, childhood ornaments, handmade ornaments, and more. Those are the ornaments that bring the biggest smile to my face. I love decorating the tree every year and looking at it over the Christmas season. I always seem to notice something new.

Today I chose 5 of my favorite ornaments to share a little more about.

Rewind Friday V5, Favorite Fall Posts

Welcome back to another month of Rewind Friday!

First of all I have to say that I can’t believe October starts tomorrow. Seriously?! The last three months of the year are always my favorites and it seems crazy that fall is in full swing now. History says we are going to blink 3 times and suddenly we’ll be choosing words and posting resolution or goals. As much as I’m ready, I’m just not ready. Anyone else?

In the spirit of all things fall I decided to make that this months rewind theme. I know I already did a post on my favorite things about fall, I shared our fall bucket list, and earlier this week I announced the ‘All Things Pumpkin’ link up. But in true #basic fashion, I don’t believe excess fall is possible.

Dutch Apple Pie Bread {Recipe}

I created this recipe last fall when I was up to my eye balls in apples. I love that it is a little healthier than a lot of sweet bread recipes you’ll find.

The Ghost of Halloween Past

Last year I put together a post featuring 8 years of Halloween photos. I kind of want to do it again, but I should probably wait a few more years so it doesn’t feel like an exact repeat. You can see everything from newlyweds in 2007, first Halloweens, and Emily’s repetitious Minnie costumes.

Fall Bucket List 2014: Corn Maze

This was year #2 at Pathways Corn Maze. It is a family tradition that goes back to my pre-blogging days. The girls are super excited to make their 4th trip out there tomorrow and the weather is looking to be perfect.

Family Photos 2015

When I think fall, I think family photos. Out of all the family photos we have had taken this set was my favorite. It’s just too bad my photographer moved to Colorado late this summer. Maybe Anna and I can get a little more serious on figuring out how to nail this family photo thing ourselves.

Guest Posting: 3 Fun Fall Busy Bags

Forever ago when I moon-lighted as a blog contributor I put together a post featuring 3 fall themed super easy busy bag ideas. Sometimes I miss the days when my girls LOVED busy bags.

All Things Pumpkin {Fall Link-up Announcement)

The arrival of October is pretty routine around our home. We start getting serious about planning Halloween costume, I put up our “spooky” decorations, and the weather finally catches on that fall is here so we sort through piles of clothes seeing what fits who. But my favorite yearly “ritual” is seeing how quickly I can drive Russ crazy by making ALL the pumpkin things. In past years I have succeeded in less than a week, but he seems to be growing a little more tolerable each fall. Pumpkin desserts, pumpkin breakfast, pumpkin smells, pumpkin crafts. If a pumpkin twist can be added to anything, I’ll gladly try. When I was asked to co-host a link up that featured ‘All Things Pumpkin’, I couldn’t possibly say yes fast enough.

I’m a little embarrassed to say…. (No, scratch that, I have no shame.) I have been planning new content to share through the month of October since early summer! But, let’s not forget some of our older ‘posts of pumpkins past’.

Fall Bucket List: Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup {Recipe}

Easy Pumpkin Bread {Recipe}

{DIY} Pallet Pumpkins

The idea is simple, link up posts that feature any and all things pumpkin!
Kids activities
Or anything else you can think of.

Rewind Friday V4, Favorite Home School Posts

Hello Friday!

It’s the last Friday of the month and that means three things:
#1 This month is almost over so I really need to check out this months goals to see if there is any hope of getting some of them marked off.
#2 I’m being featured over at The Blended Blog today so check that out!
#3 It’s Rewind Friday!

When I started thinking about a theme for this month it seemed like there was one obvious choice, home school. But as I dug through the archives I realized I don’t really post on homeschool all that much. The irony is I started this space thinking homeschool would be where I focused most of my time. Realistically, taking time to photograph large chunks of our school day and projects just isn’t something I want or have time to do. However I have written quite a bit on the subject of homeschool, shared some product reviews, and blogged a few projects & lesson ideas over the years that are worth mentioning.

Here are 5 of my favorites.

Ask a Home School Mom Part 1

After asking readers to submit their questions about any and all things home school I wrote this post as a part one. My hope was to share more about why we do what we do and to encourage others who may be interested in the same path. I ended up doing two posts to answer all the question that came in. You can read those answers here, including my favorite question ever: How do you stay sane spending that much time with your kiddos without a break?

Little Artist: Mondrian

When I was a new blogger I started a series tracking our art projects. We were studying famous artists, the pieces they created, and creating a replication of their work. This was one of my favorite projects we made.

School Room Makeover

After 2 years of homeschooling at a kitchen table I knew we needed a more permanent space. The resolution was to turn a bonus space off our kitchen into our school room. This post shows the drastic changes that took place to make it happen. Over a year later and it still looks the same, however we recently added a works space for me that you can check out here.

Home School Wins & Losses

Home school has been far from a bed of roses. In this post I opened up about the wins and losses we have experienced over the past 3 years.

In this post I shared a couple of our favorite Halloween books and some spooky & fun activities that go with them.

$10 At Target {April 2016}

When life happened last week, I was in need of some retail therapy aka escaping the house. Then I realized that I actually “needed’ to go to Target #winning! I had blog “work” to do! I may not have bought anything exciting and I definitely looked like a hot mess. But getting out of the house was lovely, even if it was just for an hour.

I started at ‘The Dollar Spot’ Where once again things were pretty picked over. I clearly need to visit Target more often or get an inside source to let me know when they restock. However I did find a few options.

These are just the best and cutest little containers ever and the girls need new pencil holders.

I <3 organization. To do lists make me SO happy.

I keep meaning to grab balloons for an experiment.

Pretty and simple.

I have been looking for a Minnie Mouse hat for quite a while now. It isn’t the best quality…. but is was just $3!!!

Seeing all the stuff the dollar spot had to offer, I was off to search for clearance.
Talk about disappointed there was little to none to be found.

I did find this for $6.88 and had it been a size larger it would’ve come home with me in a second.

That was a pretty great savings. I expected it to smell a bit better than it did though. I’ll stick with my oils.

I know two little girls who could care less if Easter is already long gone.

I also found a few regular priced items I considered.

It is so funny…. but Russ would be way less than impressed. He despises the selfies.

These dainty girly mugs are so pretty.

Eventually I had to make my picks though and I decided to be completely random.

April Haul
The hat because HELLO, Emily! Buckets since our current pencil holders are making me crazy, Eggs since they were so cheap, balloons for the sake of finally remembering and the paper for me because I think it is pretty.

How did I do after two months of being “over budget”

$9.72, I did it!!!
