Friday Favorites 02.16.18

Hello Friday!

I am so excited that the weekend is finally here. We have a lot going on, and SO much to celebrate. Here is what we are planning to accomplish over the next few days.

* I have a Galentines party to attend tonight.
* We hope to finish the interior framing at the house.
* Celebrate Russ’ moms birthday with the family.
* Sunday is the Daytona 500. If you know us well, you know this day has “holiday status” in our household.
* Take a trip to KC on Tuesday. (LOTS of planning to do at IKEA & Emily has an eye appt.)
* Celebrate Emily’s 7th birthday on Wednesday.

So, there is lots of baking to do and lots of fun to be had. It should add up to a pretty great week.

Now, let’s take a look at this weeks Friday Five!

Dogwood Canyon 15k

After running the same race time and time again, I got bored. In 2017 busting my boredom looked like running a marathon, in 2018 I have something completely different in mind.

I have been wanting to run this race for YEARS now, and it is finally happening. It is infamous for selling out within a few days of registration opening up in February and the race isn’t ran until November! Last week Anna and I snagged our spots in the 15k. This will be our very first trail run and I hear it is quite the doozy! It should definitely challenge us.

Floral Top

I posted a poll on my IG stories last week about this top and I was overwhelmed with how many of you loved it too.

I was excited to see that it wasn’t just me that was left swooning over this shirt

Yoplait Sour Patch Kids

I was given this product by Yoplait, all opinions are my own.

Is anyone a Sour Patch Kid fan?

Has anyone seen these yet?

Our friends at Yoplait were so sweet to send us some samples of their newest product and we are in love.

I mean, when you combine one of our favorite gummy candies with one of our favorite treats, what could go wrong?! The girls have LOVED trying these out and we still can’t decide if we love the red or the blue more.

FitBit Challenge

My friend Amanda has been challenging me to keep moving this week by creating daily showdowns all week-long. She is such and inspiration to me through her ‘Healthy Girl’ challenges on the blog, and now this.

I haven’t won a challenge, yet, but it has definitely kept me moving… and wishing for warm weather.

Emily’s Eyes

Emily’s upcoming eye appointment (Tuesday) has brought back some memories, good and bad, of the journey we’ve been on with her over the past two years. From the very first trip to the ER, to finally getting answers and good news almost an entire year later, it was a wild ride.

Emily eyes

We have SO much to be thankful for friends.
God’s hand in her life was so evident through the good and bad.

Hello Friday!

I originally wasn’t going to post today, then I decided why not?! The world of blogging has been WAY more enjoyable when I do things because I want to, not because I feel like I have or need to.

This weekends plans consist of house framing on Saturday and a bowling tournament for Russ Sunday. No, he doesn’t bowl. It’s a work event that he’s attending and lucky for him, he’s a pretty good bowler. I am pretty impressive too… but only on the Wii. Totally counts, right?

Let’s take a look at this weeks Friday Favorites!

Making Memories

This week we finally handed over the keys to “our” house.

Such a bittersweet moment.

Melting Snowman

Do yourself a HUGE favor and buy one of these. I feel pretty confident that you won’t regret it.

Russ’ mom has one at the house and I can’t even count how many times this guy has been played with. It is SO much fun and never gets old. Trust me.

Ladies Game Night!

It’s ladies game night and I am SO excited!!

Tonight I get to hang out with the ladies from my church family and play some games! No, we won’t actually be playing Monopoly #TheGameThatNeverEnds. It feels like forever since our last girl night, even thought it has only been a month, and I am so excited to be together once again!

14 Days of Love 2018

Last year I hosted a mini photo challenge for the first 14 days of February and I’m excited to announce that it’s back for 2018!

Mark your calendars, start snapping photos, and tell your friends.

We’d love to have you join us on February 1st!

Earlier this week I shared that Russ received a job promotion. After a life of “blue-collar” work, he has taken an office position. This job comes with a lot of changes for him, including a whole new wardrobe.

I am so thankful for places like Kohls who make it easy to save.

I ordered 4 pairs of pants and 6 shirts and saved $311.70 by shopping sales and coupons.
Paid 167.02.
Saved $10.00 with Ebates.
And received $30 Kohls Cash.

Not too shabby at all! I still need to pick him up some more clothes, but I was excited to get a great start so effortlessly and affordably.

Hello Friday!
Hello almost Christmas break!

The past week has been busy, busy, busy and loaded with school work. You see, I goofed up. When I was making our schedule, months ago, I didn’t stop to think about how getting out a few days before Christmas might be enjoyable #duh. I had us working all the way through to the last-minute. Most schools around here dismiss on the 20th!!!

In order to “right my wrong” we have been doing school work the past two Fridays. Typically we are at co-op on Friday mornings but due to Christmas break, our schedule was free. I had hoped to spend that time having lazy Friday mornings… but that is NOT the case. However, it will be worth it all come Tuesday afternoon when we finish for the year!

20 weeks of school almost complete, 16 left to go!!!

Let’s take a look at this weeks Friday Favorites!

Friday Highlights 12.8.11

Hello Friday!

What a week friends. This week I spent most of my days lying in bed feeling a bit under the weather. I got smacked in the face with a cold on Saturday morning. Yes, again. That marked cold #2 within one month and I was feeling all of the emotions. From sadness all the way to rage, I couldn’t believe that I was sick… again. The good news is that cold #2 was much shorter lived than cold #1 and I am already feeling mostly recovered. The bad news is that Emily started sniffling and running a fever around noon yesterday. *Big sigh*

This year seems to be one full of sickness, it is everywhere friends. I pray and hope your home has been a bit healthier than mine has the past few weeks.

Hello Fri-Yay!

A quick check of the blog showed that this is my first Friday Favorites post since September 29th! WHOA! I remember sharing about how it was great to feel like I didn’t have to do these Friday posts anymore, but I also didn’t exactly plan on taking that long of a break from them.

I guess just over a month is plenty of time for lots of randomness to accumulate inside my brain. And the best way to share all of that at once, is obviously with a Friday Favorite post.

Hack, Sneeze, Cough!

I think I spent so much time worrying that I would get sick, that I made myself sick.
With my marathon only 9 days away… I have a cold.

The “good news” is that I came down with said cold on Tuesday. So the odds are pretty high that I will be nearly 100% recovered before the race gets here. The biggest way it affected me was my last training run, 16 miles. But as long as I don’t have a fever, I can run. I’ve done that many times before… just never for quite that long.

Construction has begun!

It may be two months later than we hoped, but construction on our house, aka shouse, aka barndominium, has finally started!

Life is about to get hectic friends. I’m hoping to share some more details with you, including the floor plan, next week!

I received this product for free from Moms Meet (, May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms Meet blogger, I agree to use this product and post my honest opinion on my blog. The opinions posted are my own.

Actually beer does make everyone better looking. That slogan from BRÖÖ left me giggling like a school girl. We were so excited when we were given the opportunity to try this fun twist on hair care. Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever even seen Russ interested in a cosmetic item before, so that was kind of exciting.

BRÖÖ serves up craft beer as the main ingredient in their hair care system. People have used beer to rinse their hair for ages for its nourishing properties. Plus all BRÖÖ products are brewed without harmful chemicals.

Another reason to love BRÖÖ is that they donate portions from every sale to help with clean water initiatives world-wide!

Look for BRÖÖ at your local Walmart.

Veterans Day

Today I want to take a few minutes to talk with my girls about Veterans Day. About a day to honor those who so sacrificially serve their country. One day just doesn’t seem to be enough.

Thank you so much to those who protect and defend our country.

October Currently, 2017

Hello Friday!

As of today we are 25% of the way done with our school year. WOW! The first quarter has really flown by. We have always started back to school a bit on the early side, but this past year it was done with more intention than ever before. After all, I would be foolish to think that building a home won’t require us to adjust our expectations and calendar a bit.

Today I am breaking away a bit from the typical Friday Five and sharing a bit about what is going on currently. I’ve recently realized that just because I post on a Friday, it doesn’t mean I have to share a “Friday Five” style post. I know it sounds like a “duh” thing to say, but sometimes I get so wrapped up in what the majority is doing, or what I have always done, that I forget that I don’t have to do the same thing.

Fall outfits and photos.

The weather has been in a constant limbo and ultimately we’ve only had about 4 fall like days. Other than that, it still feels like summer. But that hasn’t stopped me from switching things around in my closet around and dreaming up some fun fall outfits. I’m also starting to think about photo outfits for this year too. I need to look at what we wore last year and make sure I go a different direction.

I’ve also been taking some styled recipe photos, which reminded me that I really enjoy taking photos of food #nerdalert. I have several props and a collection of place-mats and such… most of which are packed away #fail. But I am making what I have on hand work and wondering why I don’t share recipes more often.
