Friday Favorites 8.4.17

Hello Friday!

Well, it’s here… our last weekend before we start school Monday morning. Goodness, summer went by fast. Typically we spend our last weekend before school starts back celebrating with pool time, pizza, ice cream, you name it! We call it Back to School Eve. It started out as a one night celebration and has slowly evolved into a whole entire weekend. But this weekend it’s supposed to be unseasonably cold and will likely rain all weekend long *sigh*. I guess we’ll have to be a little more creative with our celebration this year.

Let’s take a look at this weeks Friday Favorites!

Friday Highlights 6.2.17

Happy Friday y’all!

What a week friends. Something about having a long weekend always messes me up for the rest of the week. Add in needing to go grocery shopping all week (so we’ve been scraping by on what’s in the fridge) and in the end you have one big hot mess that has been my life. But hey, the pool is open and it’s summer time so all in all we’re good!

Friday Highlights 5.26.17

Hello Friday, Hello long weekend!

With the Mr. off work today and a holiday on Monday we are super excited to have a 4 day weekend together. Recently Emily asked if Russ gets to take the summer off too. She gave me a heartbroken look when I told her he didn’t. Wouldn’t that be the best 😀 ?! I love that my girls love having him around too. Everything is just more fun together.

Let’s take a look at this weeks Friday picks!

Friday Highlights, V41

Hello Fri-Yay!

After more than a month of busy Fridays, I am so excited to get back to doing a Friday 5 post. My Friday 5 posts are the one thing that hasn’t changed much through my blogging years. I love the randomness they are filled with and the sense of excitement that it is finally Friday, again.

Burgundy Pants

Burgundy pants were on my fall clothing wish list and it felt like I would never find a pair that fit.

kohls-pants
And then I found these at Kohls. I love these pants. They are super comfortable and they don’t stretch out over the course of the day. I was a bit bummed that the tall size wasn’t a bit longer. If they were anything other than skinny jeans, they wouldn’t have worked out. Curse these long legs. I am hoping to snag another pair in gray sometime soon.

Pumpkin Love

We just wrapped up week three of the ‘All Things Pumpkin’ link-up. Goodness, y’all have been sharing some great stuff. There have been so many posts that I have loved, but here are a few of my favorites from the first couple of weeks. There is one more week left, this coming Tuesday. We’d love to have you join us for the grand finale.

Hot Rod Reunion

This past Sunday was the 17th annual MoKan Hot Rod Reunion.

This marks year number three of loading up the family and heading to the drag strip. Last year we froze, this year we may have melted if the wind wasn’t blowing so stinking hard. You never know just what the weather in the Midwest is going to do at any given moment.

emimg_4848

We saw several 10, 8 & 6 second cars. We also saw a turbo almost run a flat 4 #impressive. I love our family trips out to MoKan.

In other non related news I decided to kick up my pattern mixing by doing this. I still can’t decide if it works or if it looks like 90’s grunge. Either way, I feel the crowd I was in could have cared less.

Would you wear stripes with plaid?

Lessons Learned

coop

Last week at our home school co-op we were teaching the kids on flexibility and God decided to teach more than just the kids that day. When I showed up I found out that I would not be able to use the copy machine meaning everything I had planned for the kids had to change. I instantly went into panic mode. I was angry, I was worried, I was frustrated. I was everything but flexible. Oh the irony! I went to class that day expecting to be the teacher, but I think I learned more than everyone else combined. God definitely has a sense of humor.

Friday Highlights, V36

Hello Friday!

Happy Fri-Yay friends!

A typical Friday post around here consists of little things that didn’t end up with a blog post of their own, blog highlights, announcements, and random thoughts from the weird corners of my mind. But today I am breaking away from the normal to share five things that I’m loving right now.

Five things I love

one

Floral baseball tee’s

Floral shirt

I recently purchased this shirt with a gift card I won and I am in love. The colors and style are so perfect for fall. I might end up living in this shirt so if you see it on me a lot, don’t be surprised.

Two

Amazon Prime

Every time I have a free trial of Amazon Prime I can’t get enough of the convenience. Confession: every single email address I use has an amazon account just so I could have a Prime trial. However, when it comes to paying the $99 for the year, I just don’t want to do it. Anyone else?!

prime

We have yet to really figure out the Prime movies and Prime music. Maybe if I did I would be convinced to go for it. I have a love hate relationship with Netflix and Prime might be a better choice?

Thoughts? Opinions?
I am pretty much begging to be convinced.

Three

My work space

desk7

I know I already wrote an entire post on my work space but when thinking of things that I love, it still was high on my list. I can’t even tell you how much having this little area has meant to me and my productivity. Spending time there is the great and my girls love having me so close during our school days. If you have been thinking about creating a work space to call your own here is some encouragement to do it! Whether it’s a full office or just a little corner like I have, go for it!

Four

Children’s Place Jeans

Having very tall, very skinny girls has proved to be problematic in the shopping department. They need one size for length but an entirely different size for the waist. Thank God for Children’s Place! Their jeans have the pull tabs that I have loved for year, plus they carry slims online making jeans for my girls a reality. Without them I fear we may be stuck in leggings forever. Which really wouldn’t be such a bad thing I suppose.

jeans

It’s also my favorite place to buy headbands too.

Five

My diffuser

diffuser

With fall upon us and the return of germs everywhere I plan to keep thieves in the diffuser for the next 6 months #kiddingnotkidding. I picked up this diffuser last fall after debating on getting one for months and I am still happy I did. It is affordable and perfect for the part of the house that we spend the most time in.

Do you use essential oils?

Friday Highlights, V35

Hello Friday!

It is FRI-nally Friday! I am so happy that we can almost call this week over. This week was supposed to be packed full of fun and plans but my allergies flared up and I put everything on hold. Literally everything. I even went almost 4 whole days without applying a stitch of make up to my face. I am so thankful that I am finally starting to feel human again after a week of sneezing, watery eyes, and blowing my nose constantly. Life was not pretty around here this week, it was all about just surviving. But hey, its Friday now!

Let’s take a look at this week picks.

one
New glasses

They are here! Emily’s new glasses arrived just over a week ago and oh my word are they cute… and thick. Having a prescription pretty close to hers, I knew what to expect. With a +5.50 lens it is just going to be thick even if you get the thin lenses. She has been having a rough time adjusting to them too. The ophthalmologist warned us that she would hate them at first. Baby girl has spent YEARS forcing her eyes to see. With the glasses now doing the work for her, telling her brain to stop forcing things is easier said than done.

New glasses
But I am excited to report we have already notice an improvement in the eye crossing and we are still praying she won’t need surgery.

Two

Mug love exchange

Did you see the announcement I made on Wednesday?!

Mug Love Exchange
I am so excited to be co-hosting this mug swap.

Three
The first day of co-op

Today we begin our 4th year of co-op. That doesn’t seem possible, but it is. I feel like such a hippie when I say we go to a co-op. In reality co-op is group classes. Every week we are there for about 3 hours. The girls get have gym time and learn about subjects that are better taught in a group setting. We take field trips, have parties, and provide each other with support. It is amazing and I can’t imagine homeschooling without a co-op.

Four
Pumpkin spice life

You have probably seen this image countless times already. But, if you are as #basic as I am, you smile every single time. I’m not asking you to join in or even understand. Just don’t be a party-pooper, m’kay?!

Five
