Yesterday, I shared my first goal post for 2018 and filled you in on the in and outs of this week. Today, I thought it would be fun to share a bit more about our life currently. So I’m linking up, with Anne In Residence, to share about what I am currently starting, hoping, scheduling, reading & playing.
School, again. After several days off of school for winter break, yesterday we went back to the books. Going back was hard, but thankfully I planned ahead and scheduled an “easy” first week back. Originally I did this knowing how hard it is to go back after the holiday, but it ended up being moving week for us too. I am SO thankful things worked out this way.
As of today we are 25% of the way done with our school year. WOW! The first quarter has really flown by. We have always started back to school a bit on the early side, but this past year it was done with more intention than ever before. After all, I would be foolish to think that building a home won’t require us to adjust our expectations and calendar a bit.
Today I am breaking away a bit from the typical Friday Five and sharing a bit about what is going on currently. I’ve recently realized that just because I post on a Friday, it doesn’t mean I have to share a “Friday Five” style post. I know it sounds like a “duh” thing to say, but sometimes I get so wrapped up in what the majority is doing, or what I have always done, that I forget that I don’t have to do the same thing.
Fall outfits and photos.
The weather has been in a constant limbo and ultimately we’ve only had about 4 fall like days. Other than that, it still feels like summer. But that hasn’t stopped me from switching things around in my closet around and dreaming up some fun fall outfits. I’m also starting to think about photo outfits for this year too. I need to look at what we wore last year and make sure I go a different direction.
I’ve also been taking some styled recipe photos, which reminded me that I really enjoy taking photos of food #nerdalert. I have several props and a collection of place-mats and such… most of which are packed away #fail. But I am making what I have on hand work and wondering why I don’t share recipes more often.
The last Wednesday of the month means What’s Up Wednesday. It’s a day that I share a little more about what we have going on behind the scenes with a list of provided prompts… Only this month I opted to switch things up a little bit. Maybe it’s because the same prompts month after month can be a bit repetitious or maybe I just felt like keeping y’all on your toes. Either way, mixing things up a bit was a nice change. I’ll definitely be doing more of it in the future.
The last Wednesday of the month means What’s Up Wednesday. (How is it possibly the last Wednesday of June?!) It’s the day I share all of the ins and outs of our life lately. And trust me we may appear boring on the surface level, with no big trips or exciting adventures, but this summer has been anything but boring. We just have SO much life changing stuff going on behind the scenes. Let me see if I can give you a peek when I share what’s going on in our world currently.
What we are eating this week…
Nothing unless I got to the store. Kidding… kind of. This week is full of simple meals. The girls started swim lessons on Monday so now that we need to be out the door at 6:00 4 days a week, dinners have to be early and simple. Lots of summer staples like grilled burgers or margherita pizza will be happening and some meals that offer leftovers will be planned too.
What I’m reminiscing about…
I spent a lot of time reminiscing over Marissa right before her 9th birthday. I know that by now I shouldn’t be surprised over how fast each year goes by, but I am. It makes me sad and I want to freeze time and soak up this summer.
What I’m loving…
Any and all things summer. But I haven’t even glanced at our summer bucket list, eeekkkk!!! I guess I should take a look so we can get to work on it. I’d hate to not be able to cross something off .
With Memorial Day weekend over, the pool open at last, and tomorrow officially kicking off the month of June it finally really feels like summer. Glory! The next two months are my absolute favorite time of the year, except for those 3-4 magical weeks leading up to Christmas. Today I am linking up for What’s Up Wednesday and sharing all the ins and outs of what’s going on in our world. Hint: #allthesummerthings
