A few weeks ago several of my blogging besties did this post and it left me wondering one thing (or maybe 10.) What would be on my list?!?! If you know me well you know two things. #1 I love to make list. I am one of those girls who writes down something she already did on a to do list, just so she can cross it off. #2 I love making and setting goals.
Honestly I think that is what scared me off a bit from this post. I don’t like to let myself think to hard about this kind of stuff. I am afraid of growing attached to the idea and then finding myself invested, committed, and feeling like a failure when I read this in 10 years. Hello future Beth. You are stinking awesome even if you can’t cross a single one of these things off, capeesh?
So with no further delays… ( Did you notice it feels like I am stalling as I write this? That’s because I am.) here is my list.
Every year we make a summer bucket list packed full of fun activities that we hope to complete. From trips to the pool, projects of all sorts, and yummy treats. We try to include a little bit of everything. Over the past four years I have watched our list change drastically. There are some things that we have grown out of 😥 , but others that we have grown into 😀 .
However, no matter how our list evolves and how much my sweet girls grow, every year I find myself saying we had the best summer ever. I have no doubts that this year will be any different.
Over the past several years we have been no strangers to making and accomplishing bucket lists. From summer fun to Christmas celebrations, we have really done it all.
For over a year now I have been dreaming up an entirely different kind of bucket list. One that wouldn’t last just for a season, but for a life time.
I shared our bucket list 2 weeks ago and soon afterwards I got a TERRIBLE cold. Easily the worst cold that I have had in years, not that any of them are good. I’ll be honest, the cold made me angry. It was the most wonderful time of the year and I felt like garbage. At first I felt too badly to care, then I became annoyed. I thought that surely our bucket list suffered for it. But when I took at look to see how we were doing so far, I was surprised!
With the first official day of fall arriving tomorrow I thought it was the perfect time to share our fall bucket list.
Disclaimer: the odds of me being one of the last to post my list is probably pretty high, especially since I waited until right before fall officially starts. BUT, I would like you to know that I made this list and scheduled this post on August 12th! I just had to put that in here so my being “late” to the bucket list party wasn’t confused with me not being excited. I love fall every bit as much as any other boot & scarf wearing, pumpkin spice eating, giddy that it’s fall, basic white girl. It’s a stereotype that I will always proudly embrace.
Here is what I have planned for our fall.
*Have a bonfire
*Have a chili night
*Play in the leaves
*Make apple dumplings
*Make sweet potato pie
*Visit a pumpkin patch
*Go for a nature walk
*Bob for apples
*Navigate a corn maze
*Have a pumpkin spice latte
*Halloween movie night
*Make a fall craft
*Drink apple cider
*Go on a hay-ride
*Make a thankful tree
*Attend a fall festival
*Try a new pumpkin recipe
We plan to spend from now until Thanksgiving working hard on our list, crossing off as many things as we can, and making as many memories as possible.

What is your favorite thing about fall?
So I feel like we may be the last ones to jump on board the summer bucket list band wagon, but technically speaking the first day of summer is just about a week away on June 20th! When putting together our summer list this year I decided on the go big or go home approach. This might be a record number of items on a bucket list, but I look it over and feel like it is definitely do-able. I also think I did a pretty good job of mixing big and small things throughout.
We LOVE summer around here and fully intend to make this the best one ever, so here is what we have in mind.
*Build a fort
*Make ice cream sandwiches
*Build a sand castle
*Visit Mo-Kan drag strip
*Play in sprinklers
*Make & sail newspaper boats
*Kids cook dinner night
*Make root-beer floats
*Go to the drive-in
*Make strawberry pie
*Make a fairy house
*Mom-cation with Anna
*Ride bikes to get ice cream
*Have a picnic
*Eat watermelon & spit seeds
We plan to spend from now until September 22nd working hard on our list, crossing off as many things as we can, and making as many memories as possible.
Ready, set, go!
