Weekend Love, April 2017

Another very busy weekend comes to an end! This season of life has felt so busy! I know that has been greatly impacted by the house craziness we are in the midst of. But with the house going on the market THIS WEEK and all of our activities coming to  an end for the year. I am naively optimistic that we will soon have a little more free time to relax and just be.

Let’s take a look at this weekends happenings.

Spring Break Recap, 2017

Last week the girls and I took our very first spring break! It may have been a couple of weeks later than we expected it, but it definitely turned out for the best. If we hadn’t waited our break would have been cold, rainy, and gross. Instead we had sunshine, warm weather and best of all, it finally felt like spring. Before our break began the girls and I sat down together and I let them create a Spring Break Fun List and today I am happy to report that we were super close to crossing everything off!

Let’s take a look!

Little Letters, April 2017

Hello Friday!

We are wrapping up our spring break this weekend and I have to say, it lived up to all the hype and was so worth the wait. The weather and sunshine this week were beautiful and something we would have completely missed out on if we had taken our break when we originally planned to. Everything really worked out for the best.

This week I am sharing another edition of my monthly ‘Little Letters’ where I write notes to divulge all the randomness that is currently going on inside my head.

Dear School Year,

Where in the world did you go?! In 3 weeks we will wrap up our 4th year of home school and I will officially have a 1st grader and a 4th grader. This can not be possible. Have I really been “at it” for this long?! My girls are growing up entirely too fast, this is not okay.

Dear Donut Run,

Why is it that the day after I mentioned not wanting to pay for any races,  heard about you. The idea of running and eating donuts simultaneously does seem a bit… crazy 🙄  ( simply put ). But, it’s on my donut & running loving daughters birthday and she is totally convinced it is the perfect way to celebrate. I think I am going to have to give in and register us.

Dear House,

Please sale quickly. I think you are charming, full of character, and fantastic. I really pray that someone else will love you just as much and that our idea to ‘For Sale By Owner’ works out perfectly.

Dear Placement Tests,

I feel pretty confident that my girls kicked your bottom this year. But when the hardest math question on Marissa’s test was 72/8 and the kid is doing long division for fractions it seems kind of obvious that she’ll do well. I was honestly super disappointed that, that was the hardest thing they expect 3rd graders to know.

Dear Husband,

I missed you so much while you were gone last weekend. I tried to stay super busy (aka distracted) but goodness the nights were long and boring without you.

Dear Beauty and the Beast,

You were beautiful. Watching you with Anna felt like we were having one big sing along and I loved it. I tried to explain to the girls that Beauty and the Beast was my Frozen and they seemed to understand. Also Belle’s dress in the last scene?!?!?! I am still swooning.

Dear Neighbor,

You wash your car like every 3 days…. seriously?! I have no idea if I am impressed or if I just think you are flat-out crazy.

P.S. Next time can you wash mine too?

Dear Squats,

I hate you. You know you did it right (or very, very wrong) when your legs are sore to the touch.

Dear 16 Kindergartners,

There were 16 of you last Friday… you clearly won. I have really loved teaching the kindergarten class at co-op this year. But I am THRILLED that next Friday is our last meeting of the year. Having our Fridays back over the summer is always so nice. However, I may be slightly out of my mind. I signed up to teach the kindergarten class again next year and I won’t even have a kindergartner. What in the world was I thinking?!

Dear Home School Curriculum,

I am so thankful for the freedom and ability to home-school but goodness the older my kids get the more it costs! I could EASILY spend at least $400 on curriculum and books this year  😯 . You can’t put a price on a good education though… or can you  😕 .

Have a great weekend friends!
We’ll see you back here on Monday.

The Kids Behind The Blog, April 2017

It’s the second Wednesday of the month and that means it’s time for The Kids Behind the Blog. Every month I take a few minutes to interview my girls. I love that it guarantees me a few minutes of one on one conversation with them and it has been a really fun way to document their personalities over the past year.

This months interview is about all things spring from flowers to Easter!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Our Weekend Recap

This past weekend was a weekend for the girls. The husband went to Arkansas on Friday morning for a work related fishing trip. That meant that the girls an I had nearly the entire weekend (and the start of our spring break) to ourselves. So what are the girls to do when left without a Mr. to keep them in line? PLAY! And that is exactly what we did.
