In 2016 I wrote 282 blog posts. The days, weeks and months really have a way of adding up. Today I want to share my top 10 posts from 2016. These are the posts that ranked the most page views, not my personal favorites. A few are surprising to me, a few not so much.
One of the goals I made in 2016 was to improve my food photography. I have always felt at home in the kitchen, but taking photos of food (that actually look appetizing) isn’t always the easiest thing to do. In 2016 I shared 30+ recipes and today I want to highlight a few of my favorites.
That the start of the school year wasn’t 11 days away. How in the world is it ONLY 11 days away?! Where did our summer break go?!

Celebrating anniversary #9 with the Mr. in less than a month. 9 years have gone by so quickly. I guess time flies when you’re having fun.

I can not get this song out of my head.
Water, water, water, coffee and Gold Peak Green Tea.
WAY too much junk food. I remember saying “Oh it’s so much easier to eat healthy during the summer” I guess I set out to prove that wrong this summer. It probably has something to do with the pounds of ice cream I am consuming…. oops!
But, I am FINALLY starting to get some good crops from the garden. Maybe that will help!
How to do vision therapy exercises with Emily. It pretty much consists of just playing “games” with her but it really takes up time in our day and she doesn’t always love to do it either.
The 2016/2017 school year. I just wrapped up lesson plans for our school year and I am pretty excited! There are so many new things to do with the girls this year. I know we are going to have a blast playing and learning together.
All things summer!!!
Summer time with my girls is my favorite. All of the special days and nothing days add up to some pretty great memories that are impossible to beat or forget.

We are currently in the awkward Netflix limbo. We watched and finished Better Call Saul and we FINALLY watched the new season of House of Cards *woah!* Now we just sit and search the que, unable to find anything we really want to watch. First world problems, right?!
More color and patterns all the time. I even did my first ever fashion post yesterday! Although in the spirit of honesty I’ll confess that most day are spent in work out shorts or bathing suits. Oh how I love you summer!
I have also been wearing this AWESOME hat I found at Wal-Mart.
Mothers Day 2016 was unlike any Mothers Day before.
For starters it began in the middle of a 3 hour car ride home. I was dozing in and out of sleep when I looked at the clock and noticed it was 12:11. I told my friend Anna Happy Mothers Day and dozed back off. We arrived home an hour or so later and I stumbled to bed with the kids fast asleep at my parents.
About 5 hours later I woke up. I was still so tired and didn’t sleep nearly enough but it was Mothers Day and a nap could totally happen. Besides when I saw a note laying on my night stand, I had to read it.
And then I cried.
I have no words to say how blessed I feel to wake up to a note like this.
After I composed myself I took a quick shower and got around in peace (such a treat) then snuck out to go get our girls. But first I made a stop by ‘The Bucks’ first to grab my mama a Mothers Day pick me up. I really appreciate her keeping the girls so we could take off for the day on Saturday.
We headed to church in the 37, my favorite Sunday car. Every time we drive it I wonder about the family who may have driven it to church 79 years ago. Is that weird?
Then it was time for some obligatory Mothers Day photos, which just turned into me tickling the girls to get them to smile.
Mothers day is the one day a year I won’t cook. So we headed to McAllisters for lunch.
Next we went back home where I took a pretty epic nap and awoke to this.
Those silly girls set up a Mothers Day party while I was sleeping, complete with a “magic” show too.
It was the perfect place to sit and sip on my post nap coffee.
After the party I did some blogging while they worked on laundry. Mothers Day for the win!
We had a pizza party.
And I tucked my sweet girls in bed.
This was my 8th Mothers Day. I would have been about 36 weeks pregnant on my very first one. I can’t believe I’ve been a mom for this long. It’s still hard and messy sometimes, but it is a beautiful mess and one that I thank God for every day.
Easter 2016 was full of worship, fun and plenty of family time as we spent the whole weekend remembering and celebrating together. Today’s post is one big photo dump to recap the holiday and share some of the best parts of our Easter weekend with you.
On Friday we had very little school to do so we crafted, escaped the house for the first time all week, went to the library and then attended Good Friday service.
Saturday was an early morning run to the store, breakfast, coloring and hunting Easter eggs. playing outside, working on the 37, a throw back to my favorite Easter photo ever and an Easter basket delivery from Meme & Papa.
Sunday was church, gloomy weather and a day spent with family.
Another great Easter for the Newmans.
I used to spend a lot of time worrying about how things would look as the girls got older. Now I am starting to realize that the best part of the holidays is just being together. I don’t care if they are 2 or 15 just being and worshiping together is all I’ve ever really wanted anyways.
