Pumpkin Spice Muddy Buddies

October is halfway over and today I am sharing pumpkin recipe #3 of 5. This weeks post also features a special blog hop at the end where you will find links to several other fall inspired recipes from some of my closest blogging friends. If you are looking for a new recipe to inspire you to start baking or cooking, I feel certain you will find at least one to try.

Pumpkin Spice Muddy Buddies

Like last week’s recipe, this week was another first for me. Believe it or not, I had never made muddy buddies before. Why? I have no idea. But I am starting to think I was better off that way, since I can’t seem to keep my hand out of the bowl.

$10 at Target, October 2017

Last month I confessed to making multiple $10 trips to Target. I found dresses, earrings, costumes, fall decor and more. This past month I knew I needed to be more strict about my spending so I didn’t make nearly as many Target runs. It may not have been as much fun as the previous month, but it worked. After all, the best way to not be tempted to spend is to avoid temptation all together.

The unfortunate part about this trip was the amount of goodies that I found. I could’ve easily spent more on this one single trip than I had the entire previous month. With so much clearance to look through, staying on budget was definitely a challenge.

Here are a few things that we found at Target recently…

Getting Ready For Gameday

This post has been compensated by The Women Bloggers, LLC. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

I have said on more than one occasion that we aren’t exactly what one would call “sports fanatics“. However, that doesn’t mean that we shrug off game day fun. We’ve even been known to host a game day party on more than on occasion! For us game day isn’t about the results of the game as much as it is being with friends and family.

Okay, maybe that isn’t being completely honest …

I adore spending time with the ones I love, but I also love the game day food too. Finding a way to mix those is so important for me. I love to find a way to offer my guests something good to eat without spending half of the game in the kitchen preparing snacks. And when I think game day snacks, I think pizza. Anyone else? Pizza is food that speaks to the heart and brings us together. From the biggest fans, to the novice who can barely follow the game.

Dress-tember 2017

Over the month of September Stephanie from Wife Mommy Me hosted a clothing challenge called Dress-tember. The idea was to wear 10 dresses over the month of September. Easy enough, right? So I warned the husband that if I started wearing more dresses than normal he didn’t need to worry about me (It’s the sad truth) and I got started!

On day #1 I picked up a Dress-tember buddy. When Emily heard about the challenge she whole heartedly wanted to participate too. There was NO WAY I would, or could, say no to that. So she joined the fun with her messy hair, spunky spirit, mismatched sock and love for sneakers with dresses.

September was a HOT month. We only had 4 days that even started out remotely fall like and nearly every one of those ended like summer. I guess all in all this worked to my advantage because my spring/summer dress selection is way better than my fall/winter one.

Pumpkin Turnovers with Cream Cheese Glaze

Last Tuesday I said that with the beginning of October meant the beginning of baking pumpkin treats. I shared my very first pumpkin recipe of the 2017 fall season, New England Pumpkin Cake, and promised that I would be sharing 4 more over the next four weeks! Some of you may think it is a genius plan, others may think I am a little crazy. I probably wouldn’t argue with you either way.

Week #2 is a super easy pumpkin pastry that will have people thinking you worked way harder than you actually did.

Today’s recipe was a first for me, it was the first time I have ever used puff pastry. If I am being honest, puff pastry has always seemed kind of intimidating. I felt like it would be finicky and difficult to work with, goodness was I wrong, so I have never bothered with it.

But the idea of pumpkin turnovers with a cream cheese glaze was just too good to pass up. I mean, it’s pretty much an acceptable way to eat pie for breakfast! If that doesn’t convince you to give it a try yourself, I don’t know what will.

October Currently, 2017

Hello Friday!

As of today we are 25% of the way done with our school year. WOW! The first quarter has really flown by. We have always started back to school a bit on the early side, but this past year it was done with more intention than ever before. After all, I would be foolish to think that building a home won’t require us to adjust our expectations and calendar a bit.

Today I am breaking away a bit from the typical Friday Five and sharing a bit about what is going on currently. I’ve recently realized that just because I post on a Friday, it doesn’t mean I have to share a “Friday Five” style post. I know it sounds like a “duh” thing to say, but sometimes I get so wrapped up in what the majority is doing, or what I have always done, that I forget that I don’t have to do the same thing.

Styling

Fall outfits and photos.

The weather has been in a constant limbo and ultimately we’ve only had about 4 fall like days. Other than that, it still feels like summer. But that hasn’t stopped me from switching things around in my closet around and dreaming up some fun fall outfits. I’m also starting to think about photo outfits for this year too. I need to look at what we wore last year and make sure I go a different direction.

I’ve also been taking some styled recipe photos, which reminded me that I really enjoy taking photos of food #nerdalert. I have several props and a collection of place-mats and such… most of which are packed away #fail. But I am making what I have on hand work and wondering why I don’t share recipes more often.
