Friday Favorites 11.10.17

Hello Fri-Yay!

A quick check of the blog showed that this is my first Friday Favorites post since September 29th! WHOA! I remember sharing about how it was great to feel like I didn’t have to do these Friday posts anymore, but I also didn’t exactly plan on taking that long of a break from them.

I guess just over a month is plenty of time for lots of randomness to accumulate inside my brain. And the best way to share all of that at once, is obviously with a Friday Favorite post.

Hack, Sneeze, Cough!

I think I spent so much time worrying that I would get sick, that I made myself sick.
With my marathon only 9 days away… I have a cold.

The “good news” is that I came down with said cold on Tuesday. So the odds are pretty high that I will be nearly 100% recovered before the race gets here. The biggest way it affected me was my last training run, 16 miles. But as long as I don’t have a fever, I can run. I’ve done that many times before… just never for quite that long.

Construction has begun!

It may be two months later than we hoped, but construction on our house, aka shouse, aka barndominium, has finally started!

Life is about to get hectic friends. I’m hoping to share some more details with you, including the floor plan, next week!

BRÖÖ Love

I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com), May Media Group LLC, who received it directly from the manufacturer. As a Moms Meet blogger, I agree to use this product and post my honest opinion on my blog. The opinions posted are my own.

Actually beer does make everyone better looking. That slogan from BRÖÖ left me giggling like a school girl. We were so excited when we were given the opportunity to try this fun twist on hair care. Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever even seen Russ interested in a cosmetic item before, so that was kind of exciting.

BRÖÖ serves up craft beer as the main ingredient in their hair care system. People have used beer to rinse their hair for ages for its nourishing properties. Plus all BRÖÖ products are brewed without harmful chemicals.

Another reason to love BRÖÖ is that they donate portions from every sale to help with clean water initiatives world-wide!

Look for BRÖÖ at your local Walmart.

Veterans Day

Today I want to take a few minutes to talk with my girls about Veterans Day. About a day to honor those who so sacrificially serve their country. One day just doesn’t seem to be enough.

Thank you so much to those who protect and defend our country.

  • Living on Cloud Nine

Yay, construction has begun!!!! Woohoo!!! I wish I could bring you some chicken soup…get better quick, make the girlies nurse mama…9 days…..you got this!! Have a restful and beautiful weekend sweet lady!!

    • Oh sweet lady. That would be amazing. Just the thought of it makes me smile. Thank you for the well wishes. We are currently watching movies from my bed. That’s a pretty great way to start our weekend

  • So yay for contruction!! So exciting. And boo to colds. No bueno speaking from personal experience. Also, does the beer shampoo make your hair smell like… well beer?!

    • It definitely has a distinct smell, but it’s not that of beer if that makes any sense. I LOVE it. No bueno, at all.

  • Yay for construction!!! I can’t wait to follow along friend! And that hair care product sounds great!

    • I am SO excited for it to really look like a home, we have waited SO long.

  • Hooray for construction!!!! I’m so excited for you guys, Beth!!

    • Thank you so much. It has been such a long wait.

  • Whitney Jordan

Building has begun!!! That’s definitely worth a blog shout out!! How exciting!! Praying you make a quick recovery and that everything goes smoothly with your build. I’m looking forward to hearing which sink and faucet you picked for your kitchen. I cook a ton and always have a ton of dishes so I need a divided sink to function. Love the look of a farmhouse sink, though.

    • Finally!!! I picked the farmhouse one. I actually had picked it before I posted that. I was just curious of what others thought, ha! I mostly did it because my current sink has one huge bowl and one very small one and I never use the little except for rinsing and not even then all the time. With a huge bowl I’ll probably just set them to one side and rinse them after washing a bunch. Hopefully I like that because I cook a lot too. I also am only getting that sink because Russ works at a building supplier and can get insanely good deals on things from certain brands. Typically a sink like that WOULD NOT be in the budget. Thank you so much for the good thoughts and well wishes

  • My friend does marathons and she always gets colds beforehand. Weird! I got the Broo to try too, love the smell!

    • Oh man it stinks. I get a cold nearly every November though, so I can’t say that I am surprised.

  • Oh, bummer, You’ll be great in 9 days, at least you’re getting over it right now and not starting next week! Hope you have a fantastic weekend friend!

    • Oh man, right. I am just now feeling like I am starting to be on the mend. In a few more days, I’ll be almost good as new. THANK GOD I came down with this when I did. I hope your weekend was great too!

  • I am so sorry you are not feeling well. I am barely getting over all of that – three weeks worth. Ugh! I hope and pray yours does not last long at all. I am so impressed that you ran 16 miles while having a cold. You are strong, woman! I love watching your Insta-stories and seeing progression at your land. I keep hearing how beer is good for your hair. Who would have thought?? Happy weekend, friend! Hope it’s a great one.

    • I still can’t believe you were sick for so long :(. Thank you so much sweet friend. I just posted a bunch more stories from today. They are digging water lines to the house site, oh yay! Hope your weekend was amazing!

  • Yay construction is under way! That is a BIG step, and so exciting!

Beer shampoo, now I think I have seen everything!!

    • A big, exhausting one. But one we are ready for.

Baha ha ha! It is SO much fun.

  • Erin Wetherbee

We love OSH KOSH clothes and they wash up so well. I will have to go enter. That BROO haircare slogan made me giggle too but I have heard that before 😉 xoxo ERIN

    • Lol! I totally agree on the OshKosh. Their quality is super hard to beat. Hope you had an amazing weekend!

  • Heather Bramlett

    Love the BROO slogan! hehe!
YAY for construction beginning! I know y’all are excited!
Hope you are feeling better for your race! You have trained so hard!

    • I am feeling about 75% maybe a little more than that in a few hours, lol. I have been taking it super easy. Which is HARD since the build started. I am hoping to get a post up soon, but it won’t be today!

  • My mom used to wash her hair in Coors. Sure did – in the 80’s! I hope that nasty cold is gone today and you can get your run on. I thought of you at the 5k (measily little 5k) on Saturday! I hope your weekend was amazing and dang girl look at that framing going on at our casa!!!!

    • I would drink and rinse at the same time, lololol. It is ALMOST gone. think buy Sunday I’ll be 90%, if not better than that. So good enough I supposed. Lol! I never thought running 10 miles would be a short run, but sure enough it seems to be. The house craziness is imploding. The trusses are up and they are framing doors and windows today then putting the roof on! The plumber is there right now too. Craziness I tell you.

  • I hope you’re feeling better! I had a cold last week, it went away completely, then hit me full force yesterday. I’m not happy! Can I just say that I’m thrilled your construction began? That’s so exciting!

    • Those colds can be so tricky. I think I am sitting at about 75% better now. I should be good by Sunday. We are thrilled too. We waited so stinking long!

  • Hope you have kicked that cold to the curb! I know you are so ready to cross this run off your bucket list. Super exciting about the house getting rolling too!

    • Still kicking, but it is almost there. Oh girl, YES! I want to do this thing and never think about doing another one ever again. Life is full on crazy right now.

  • Beer hair care! Now that’s a new one! I hope you’re on the up and up with your cold!

    • I am feeling SO much better, but I can’t shake the coughing. Hopefully soon!
