Friday Favorites 9.1.17

Hello Friday, Hello long weekend!

It has been one crazy week friends. School assignments stacking up, to-do’s a mile long, and all of life really kicking in has made this mama exhausted. As a result, I haven’t exactly been the most patient person. I may or may not have put myself into mommy time out & apologized to my girls on more than one occasion. So needless to say, I am REALLY looking forward to the weekend.

Anyone else having one of those weeks too?

Let’s take a look at this weeks Friday picks!

Dirt Track Nights

Last Friday we FINALLY made a trip to a local dirt track. However, with the track being about 40 minutes away and a certain little girl, Marissa, who insisted on staying for the WHOLE thing we didn’t get home until about 1:15a.m.!

One of the perks of going to the dirt track was getting to see our favorite driver, Kyle. Russ works with Kyle and I love to play “fan girl” just to see if I can embarrass him. I think I did a pretty good job.

We had a great time and will definitely make sure to go back again next year.

Texas Love

Oh Texas, you have been SO heavy on my heart.

As a family who has endured the pain of a disaster, I have found my eyes brimming with tears more than once this week. It has stirred up all kinds of feelings in my heart and has really made me reflect on the lows that we felt and the amazing things that happened to get us to where we are now. We saw first hand that God took something so wretched and turned it into the biggest display of his love that we would ever see. 6 years later I know that tornado was an amazing blessing to our family.

So when I pray for Texas, it is with that hope. Hope that God would shine the light of his love into the darkness and that so much good would come from it. There IS beauty in the mess.

How To Really Help Those Living Through A Disaster

I shared this old post on my Facebook page earlier this week. So many people want to help during difficult times, but the ways they go about doing so aren’t always helpful. I wrote this post hoping that it would show others how to help effectively during a time of need.

Consignment Craziness

If only I sent them to school  πŸ˜† !

We have been in consignment prepping craziness lately and the piles are stacking up. I am not exactly sure how I am going to get it all done, but I will do my best. I guess I can let the fact that Marissa’s closet is nearly empty motivate me. Girlfriend grew a lot over the summer and big girl clothes get more and more expensive every year 😯 .

Rainbow Loom Insanity

About a month ago Marissa’s cousin helped her make a rainbow loom figure and it has been nothing but non stop looming craziness ever since.

She has gotten SO good at making them. She has always been my crafty child! I think the figurine count is somewhere around 100 now. Also I may go completely broke helping her buy loom bands  πŸ™„ πŸ˜†  . I love that she found something she loves to do though.

Dress-tember Starts Now

One of my blogging besties has a really exciting challenge starting today!

The challenge is simple, wear 10 dresses or skirts through the month of September and share them in a blog post or with the hashtag.

I am pretty sure this challenge is going to be hilarious for me. With some plans that eliminate dress wearing on Sundays & weekends, I may be wearing my dresses around the house for no good reason. I am bound to get some odd looks from the hubby when he see’s me looking all fancy for no reason. But hey, a girl has to do what a girl has to do.

This week on the blog I shared…

    1. She had so much fun, thank you. So glad it wasn’t just me. I bet we blink twice next week and it will be over :P. UGH! Happy long weekend to you too friend.

  2. The dirt track looks like a blast and you all look so cute with those big smiles! I hope this long weekend is sweet and fun for you pretty lady!! You deserve it!

  3. Emily looks so stinking cute in her Minnie shirt and headphones. That’s girl’s smile! Cheer to consignment tagging. I’m just about done. I have to input a few more things, like Emmy’s crib and then we are done. Thank the Lord. Have a great Labor Day weekend.

    1. That girl is so full of life, I love it. I tagged for about 4 hours yesterday. SO I am all done except the odds and ends and shoes. I am HOPING to finish those up this afternoon and call it over.

  4. Oh my gosh those rainbow loom figures are on point!! I’ve never rainbow loomed but think I need to, it looks fun!

  5. Whoop whoop for dresstember! I love it! I have never consignment shopped or prepped but I should really start. Those loom figures are so cute and SO good! I hope you have a great long weekend, and don’t worry Mama, we all need a time out every once and a while πŸ™‚

    1. It is a great way to get rid of old stuff and make a little bit of money in the process. Thanks for the reminder that I am not alone. I hope your weekend is going well too!

  6. OMG she’s so good with the loom! Those figurines are super cute. I have never done consignment but you and some other bloggers definitely have me looking into it!

    1. She really, really is!

You should give it a try. I have been consigning my girls clothes since the youngest started growing out of things. Totally worth it!

  7. Let me tell you… I have been praying so so hard for my friends in Texas. I can not imagine what they are experiencing. When we lived there, the state was in a drought! Now this?

  8. Oh friend, I love your words about the hardships in Texas. It’s impossible to see how God will bring good when you’re in the middle of a dark trial like that, but you’re right – we have hope, confident expectation, that He will! Amen! <3

Also…you all need to come to Greenville, South Carolina some time! We have a short track that used to be on the NASCAR circuit AND a dirt track within 30 mins of each other!! πŸ™‚

  9. What a fun week! I love that sunset picture of Marissa! Your girls are getting so big. Those Rainbow Loom creations are IMPRESSIVE. I would have loved that craft project when I was a kid.

  10. HAHAHAH that picture of you and Kyle! He does look a bit embarrassed but that’s so funny! πŸ™‚ So fun that you have a dirt track near by and can go watch. Mason would love to go watch something like that if we had one nearby!
Also, HOLY COW on the rainbow loom! Girl’s got some major talent!

    1. He was less than thrilled about my antics :P. It is fun. I just wish we had one in our town, but driving less than an hour is nice too. She REALLY does, right?!
