What’s Up Wednesday, August 2017

The last Wednesday of the month means What’s Up Wednesday. It’s a day that I share a little more about what we have going on behind the scenes with a list of provided prompts… Only this month I opted to switch things up a little bit. Maybe it’s because the same prompts month after month can be a bit repetitious or maybe I just felt like keeping y’all on your toes. Either way, mixing things up a bit was a nice change. I’ll definitely be doing more of it in the future.

What I’ve been munching on lately…

Lately I have been all about caramel rice cakes and grapes. However, I am REALLY excited to see what kinds of Pumpkin Spice goodies I can find in the coming weeks. I’ll probably gain 10 pounds. Thank God marathon training and pumpkin spice season are happening at the same time.

What I’m reminiscing about…

Pool days! I really feel like we were jipped those last couple of weeks of summer. The weather became unusually cool, and it rained quite a bit too, so we didn’t really get to live it up those last couple of weeks like we hoped to. Whomp, whomp, whomp. Maybe next year!

What I’m loving…

Russ’ new work schedule. I haven’t quite got used to him getting home at 5:00 yet, but it is nice to not feel like we need to go to bed super early anymore and the girls love seeing him in the morning too. We also have loved his lunch being at 12 instead of 11. It feels like we are leading a more “normal” life now.

What I’m not loving…

The roller coaster weather that can’t decided if it wants to be glorious fall, or HOT summer.

What I’m wasting too much time on …

Candy Crush. Oh my word y’all, I am out of control. I have only been playing a month and I am on level 150 something. It is the PERFECT afternoon de-stresser for me. My brain thrives on puzzles and challenges.

What is life like lately…

Lately it is a lot of rolling with the flow and surviving day-to-day. I can’t seem to plan much further than a week and at the end of the day I measure success by dividing our productivity by how many dramatic situations we had. It sounds bad, but really it isn’t. We are just in a still finding our routine phase. I think, after another week or two, we’ll be good.

What I’m planning…
Nothing fun! Lately all of my plans have been house plans, lesson plans, blog plans, plans of things we need to do. I wish I could plan a vacation or a trip! But hey, at least I have something to plan #optimist.
What’s books I’m reading…
Does Charlotte’s Web count? My reading has come to a HUGE halt friends. I have spent so much time reading text books and school books through the day, my throat has been sore at the end of my days. So the least thing I want to do is read for fun. I am hoping that this changes soon. I really do miss reading.

What’s in my Netflix que…
We just finished watching Shooter, Ozark and we are currently watching The OA. I would highly recommend all of them. Another one I am super excited about is the final season of Longmire coming soon. It might just be my favorite show ever!
What I’m wanting…
All things pumpkin spice, the ability to eat donuts every day and still fit in my clothes and for marathon training to some how magically become easy.
But seriously, I’d settle for a couple of new pieces for my fall/winter wardrobe. I’d also like them to start building our house sooner than later too.
What I’m pinning…
Lately I have been pinning space science ideas for my co-op class that I am teaching. But I need to get back to looking at ideas for the shouse.

What’s on my September calendar…
Next month will be pretty busy. I have a 15K race, AWANA starts for the girls, our home school co-op starts up on Fridays and we will have stuff with our new church going on too. I kind of love that it will be our 5th week of school before any of this happens. It’s nice to slowly start the activities up instead of taking on everything all at once.
What’s up this weekend…
Labor Day should be pretty lazy for us. I do need to work hard making sure I have all of my consignment sale stuff ready, but outside of that we don’t really have much planned. I love long lazy weekends with my favorite people.
What else is up…
We bought a truck! Don’t get too excited, it’s nothing new or fancy. In fact, he kind of looks like an old man’s truck, so we affectionately call him ‘Old Man’. However, it is lovely being a two car family again. For SO LONG we only had an antique car and my car. Now Russ has a daily driver to and from work and I am constantly left with my Pilot. I don’t feel nearly as trapped as I used to and that is such a good feeling.
What’s up with you lately?

Linking up with Shay for ‘What’s Up Wednesday’!

  1. I can’t wait to see what else Pumpkin Spice comes out in the next few weeks either! SO EXCITING! But I do not like the PSL’s.. I tried just can’t do it!
I’m with you on starting school early and then slowing adding back in church and other activities! It’s all starting back now for us too! 🙂
    Happy Wednesday Friend!

    1. We need to start some sort of text thread or something to alert those of us who are crazy about the stuff of what we find, lololol. I am not a huge PSL drinker either. I do like the creamer, but not the fancy shmancy ones.

Hope you had a great day girly!

  2. Oh man, Pumpkin Spice….. the only thing I don’t really like about fall.. 😉 I still can’t believe that you are 5 weeks in, and we haven’t even started yet! Yay for being a two car family!! Our neighbors are a one car family and I don’t know how they do it, that must be hard yo!

  3. The Pumpkin Spice products are tickling in girlie…yummo!!! The best pumpkin spice doughnuts I have found are the Krispy Cream cake ones in a box fro the store. Wow, you are rocking this school year!! Those caramel rice cakes are soooo good!! Can’t.stop.eating.them!!

    1. Oh wow! We don’t have a KC around here, but a lot of the stores carry them and they deliver daily so you can guarantee I will seek those out. Thank you so much for telling me about them. Glad the rice cakes aren’t just me. Now… if only they made pumpkin spice ones!

  4. I need to pick some of those rice cakes up for a snack. I am so ready for pumpkin spice everything…it is still so hot here so I don’t think booties and jeans will be making an appearance anytime soon. But I can love me some pumpkin spice while I wait. I watched Ozark and loved it too! I was hooked.

    1. Yes! They are so good and such an inexpensive snack to have on hand. The kids love them too…. not sure if I love or hate that, lol. Check out The OA if you haven’t yet. It is SO good too.

  5. Yes to those rice cakes! I love them! And can you believe I’ve never played candy crush?!

  6. Bring on all the pumpkin spice! Maybe I should start pretending to prepare for a marathon. Haha! Yay for a new work schedule. Does Russ come home for lunch every day? Nate works about 45 minutes from home so that isn’t an option for us. And he leaves at 5:15 am every morning. So it’s always early nights for us during the week. I can’t complain though, he’s off most Fridays. Unless he’s working overtime. I’m going to have to check out those Netflix shows. I haven’t watched any of them. Yay for having two cars!! What a blessing.

    1. Baha ha! I just ran 10.30 miles tonight #exhausted. He does. Work is about 5 minutes away which is really great. Fridays off would be pretty great too. Friend, you need to put all of them in you que. Ozark, The OA, and Longmire for sure.

  7. I need to remember when What’s up is. Geez. I’m happy for your truck purchase..we’re hunting for an “acreage truck” right now for all the hauling of things.

    1. 4th Wednesday of the month. I would remember nothing without 1 my planner and 2 other people reminding me. Sometimes even with those I miss things. UGH! That sounds super fun and “farmy”.

  8. Yay for a new truck! And OA was so good right? We just started watching Dark Matter, you’ll probably like it to. Ozark is up next for us, and then maybe we’ll add that other show you mentioned…love that all of these online only things have their own content to binge watch!

  9. I can’t wait to hear what you think about The OA! B and I binged that last year right after it came out and it was SO crazy. Probably the weirdest show I’ve ever seen, but SO intriguiging! We are patiently awaiting the second season.

  10. I really wanted to put Connor in AWANA’s this year but I think we are going to skip it. I am not a fan of him getting home and in bed so late since he has school the next day. I’ve heard rumors that it’s going to change times so I’m hoping its starts/ends earlier.

  11. Love that you named your new, old truck Old Man 🙂 Sounds like a great set up to be a two car family again 🙂 I’m also hoping to pick up a couple new things for Fall – booties, new jeans and maybe some flannel!

    1. I bought two pairs of booties on clearance CRAZY cheap at JCP last spring. I am SO excited to pull them out. I think I need some new jeans too. I’d like to find some gray ones.

  12. I like your mix up of questions. Way to go on the “old man” getting better hours and the new “old man” hahahaha! Have a good SEPTEMBER!

    1. So glad you mentioned it… I kind of was worried people thought I was weird. Haha, thank you so much. I often call him that too. I guess it is just a result of him being 4 years older than I!
