5 Things Friday, August 2017

“I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com) to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links.”

Last month I wrote a post about 5 things that were bringing me joy. It was a simple post idea that I had borrowed from my friend Crystal. I received so many sweet comments on the post, and people who loved the idea, that I knew I had to make these posts a part of my monthly routine. What I didn’t know was that over the course of the next month it would turn into a new monthly link-up!

Today officially kicks off the first ever 5 Things Friday. How it works is simple: pick five things that are bringing joy to your life, write a post, and link up with us on the fourth Friday of ever month.

We would love to have you find joy in the big and little things with us! You can find the link-up graphic and info about being next month’s guest co-host at the bottom of this post!

Here are my August 5!

Pumpkin Spice Everything

I am so happy that one of my favorite flavors is once again socially acceptable & everywhere. I’ll unabashedly admit that last year I purchased nearly ever pumpkin spice item I could get my hands on. My favorite was probably pumpkin spice Life, my least favorite had to be the Triscuits. I can’t wait to see what I find this year.

Can you think of anything I should look for?!

Even though pool season may be winding down, sun care is still a huge priority around here. Recently we were able to try out some amazing products from Coola and I was instantly hooked. One of my favorites was their Guava Mango Sunscreen Spray. SPF 50 protection, water-resistant, certified organic ingredients, lightweight, and greaseless. My only regret is that I didn’t try this product sooner. Did I mention that it smells like heaven? I am pretty sure it is the scent of rainbows & unicorns, happiness in a bottle.

They also have other amazing products like lip balm, sunscreen sticks and makeup setting spray. I have loved every single thing I have tried so far, which only makes me want to try more.

Be sure to look for them Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom & the Coola Website!

It’s crazy to me how something that is so much work can be so much fun too. This school year is without a doubt WAY more work than we have ever taken on. It has been both exhilarating and exhausting.

Although, I will admit that I was extremely happy I had already made the decision to scale the blog back before we began our school year. Because if hadn’t, the decision would have been made for me. They are SO worth it.

Nature walks

Part of our work load this year has included taking weekly nature walks. We are wondering through the woods, collecting finds, identifying things, searching for tracks, and so much more. It has definitely been a weekly highlight and we are so thankful to go on our adventures with friends. It’s like a weekly field trip and it makes the thought of moving to the woods that much more exciting.

Date Nights

Date nights in 2017 have been few and far between, but in August we went on 2 dates! It was amazing! We were so thankful to get some time together to celebrate our anniversary and to just sit in silence together #butreally. With two very giggly and talkative girls, our home is rarely quiet.

So, what’s bringing you joy?

    1. We didn’t really ever formally announce it so no worries, there is no rock. It all just happened a week or so ago so we dove head first into it. Hope you are having a great weekend!

  6. I love this new link up and cannot wait to link up next month! How did it slip my mind?!?! I love the nature walks that you are able to take! Date nights are always the best. 7. Pumpkin everything!! I had Nate get down my Fall buckets from the attic yesterday and he just rolled his eyes at me. Today I said, “I should probably wait until after the rain to put out my fall stuff on the porch right? He says, “Yeah, and maybe after summer is over too”. Guys just don’t get it. Mason would love to be homeschooled! I am praying for God to lead us in that direction. I am so happy it works out for your sweet family. Date nights are the best. Here’s to many more!! PS – you two are adorable.
PS again – so excited to be hosting this link-up with you ladies. It brings me so much JOY!!!

    1. Baha ha! I dug out some of my stuff yesterday but only because I was already up there digging out consignment clothing. That would be so fun if God opens the doors for that. Thank you so much sweet friend. I hope you are having an amazing weekend.

  8. Yay for date nights!! Aren’t they the best? I want to hear more about what you have planned for homeschool this year.
