What’s Up Wednesday, May 2017

With Memorial Day weekend over, the pool open at last, and tomorrow officially kicking off the month of June it finally really feels like summer. Glory! The next two months are my absolute favorite time of the year, except for those 3-4 magical weeks leading up to Christmas. Today I am linking up for What’s Up Wednesday and sharing all the ins and outs of what’s going on in our world. Hint: #allthesummerthings

What we are eating this week…

Monday – Grilled Chicken
Tuesday – Tacos
Wednesday – Blackened Pork-chops
Thursday – Grilled Pizza
Friday – Hamburgers
Saturday – Eat out
Sunday – Pasta of some sort

What I’m reminiscing about…

Lately I have been super sappy. Between thinking back on the memories of this house and reflecting on the day of and right after the tornado, I have cried my fair share of tears. But I don’t look back and become sad, I look back and feel immensely loved by God and others. It is such a humbling feeling and I am so glad that I can call these memories mine.

What I’m loving…

All things summer break. I have been loving the less scheduled life. Lazy mornings, big cups of coffee, and way less screen time for all.

What we’ve been up to…

Riding our bikes. The girls and I have been taking off for 3-6 mile bike rides at least 4 times a week. It has been so awesome to watch them grow stronger and develop some serious biking skills.

What I’m dreading…

Packing up the house  🙄 . Is it too soon to start dreading that?! I guess I should be thankful that I have PLENTY of time to get things done.

What I’m working on…

Blogging ahead and taking big breaks. Lately I’ve either spent a lot of time at the computer one day or stayed up until the wee hours for a few nights in a row to get some (8-10) posts scheduled out. Then I take about 2 weeks away from the blog and do little to no writing. It doesn’t always work out if I have a recap post planned, but it has been a great way to enjoy our summer more.

What I’m excited about…
Really getting started on house stuff. It feels a bit crazy to finally see things starting to happen, even if they aren’t actually happening yet 😆 . But, there is a lot of planning and preparing going on right now and that is exciting. The first time we looked at the land was July of 2016, it has been a long time coming.
What I’m watching/reading…
I finished watching Gilmore Girls a couple of weeks ago and Russ and I wrapped up watching Last Man Standing. We’ve been completely lost over what we should watch now. Lately we’ve just been watching old episodes of Frasier. Anyone have any recommendations for a good 30 minute show to watch?!
What I’m listening to…
The Sing and Moana soundtracks on repeat. We’ve also been rocking out to the Beach Boys station on Pandora too, especially when driving around in Trixie
What I’m wearing…
Sundresses, Tevas & bathing suits. I love my summer mom uniform. I also picked up the cutest active wear vest at Sams the other day for $4.81. Seriously y’all, I wanted one in every single color and I probably should have bought them for that price. I can’t swear by Sams enough, I always find the cutest stuff there.
What I’m doing this weekend…
One of Russ’ boss’ is retiring after 50 years of service to the company so they are having a big celebration at a swanky casino. We’re pretty excited to get out and have a fun date night together and even more excited that it is going to be free.
What I’m looking forward to next month…
Marissa’s 9th birthday is just around the corner. I can’t believe my sweet baby is going to be 9!!!
We will also hopefully be closing on our house soon too! The tentative date is June 12th but that may get pushed back a bit.
What else is new…
I feel like everything around here has been pretty simple and pretty open lately, so I am wracking my brain to think of anything…
Russ is tractor shopping. I guess I could write that down  😆 . We have became increasingly aware of our need for something larger than a mower out on the land. The property is pretty wooded but we have A LOT of cleanup ahead after all the clearing we’ve had done. A tractor just makes sense. File that under things I never thought we’d buy 🙄 .
What’s up with you lately?
Linking up with Shay for ‘What’s Up Wednesday’!

  1. Yes to getting ahead on the blog! 8-10 posts?! Girl that is amazing! That is (and has been) one of my goals since forever. Maybe I’ll eventually get to it. I can’t wait to see pictures of the Casino night!! How much fun 🙂

    1. It was pretty sweet. But today I need to do some blogging. Tomorrows post needs wrote and I’d like to write next Fridays too if I can pull it off.

  2. Yay for lazy mornings! I’ll be there very shortly! I really want to get ahead with blogging too, that would be so nice! I plan for lots of bike rides this summer now that Brayden can FINALLY ride his bike without training wheels 🙂

    1. It’s really hard but I would rather have a couple of late nights, or a day that I focus on blogging rather than feel like I need to do some almost every day. Ditching the training wheels was the best thing ever. Good news for you, Emily ditched them MUCH faster than Marissa did. Monkey see, monkey do maybe?!?!

  3. We still have a little over 2 weeks of school left. And with the temps this morning in the 50’s, it doesn’t feel like summer at all yet! ha! I hope you and Russ have a great night out at the casino!! How fun!!!!

    1. Oh my goodness I can’t believe it is still so cool there. Y’all don’t start the school year until September do you? I think that schedule makes WAY more sense but all of the summer activities around here start in mid’ish May, so we are stuck!

  4. Yay for bike rides on repeat. I can’t wait until we are at that stage! Although I haven’t gotten on a bike since before Mini Fox was born! Also good for you for finishing 8-10 posts, that is freakin’ awesome! Enjoy summer friend!

    1. It is pretty much the best stage. The girls growing up is hard, but man it is so sweet too. The saying it’s just like riding a bike exists for a reason friend, no worries.

  5. The Flash! Love that show! I too am so glad it is summer break! We are hoping to hit the pool a minimum of 6 times this week 🙂 Oh, and you should watch the 2 seasons of the Paradise. That is a great show!

  6. Bravo for scheduling so many posts in advance, Beth! That is so great and I am JEALOUS!! I can’t even get enough posts scheduled ahead of time to cover my vacation next week. Lol. There are definitely going to be some crickets over there for the next week and a half. Enjoy your summer, girlfriend!!

    1. Well the best advice I have is what doesn’t get done, doesnt get done. Lol! I think having a way more laid back attitude about everything has been the most helpful. That and only blogging 4 days a week. I still see 3 days a week coming eventually but until the house stuff really gets going or a busy week comes, 4 is good. Crickets are just fine, we know you’ll be back :).

  7. I can’t believe how many posts you schedule at a time!!! Hats off, sweetie! What a fun time of year. I can’t wait for the girls to be home!!

  8. Tractor shopping!?! How fun and what a fun photo shoot prop 🙂 I am trying to get into a good routine with blogging ahead. I like to be a couple days ahead. I’m hoping to head to sams this week to check for that vest!

    1. Baha ha! Oh friend I hadn’t even thought of that. I’ll request and antique tractor just for the photo factor, lol! I dont love staying up but getting a lot of blogging done and nobody even noticing me working is pretty amazing.

  9. I’m impressed with how many posts younplan at one one. I did that at the beginning of this week and wa sprout of the 5 I have planned for this and next week, but you blog more than me. Impressive. I laughed at the tractor comment. Ha ha!

    1. It’s pretty easy if I don’t have recap stuff to do. That is when I really get “messed up” I was going to bump down to 3 a week, I have LOVED only doing 4, but I may save that for when the house stuff gets crazy come fall.

  10. So much going on for you guys! I hope y’all have the best time at the Retirement shindig! And I am so impressed by you scheduling so many posts out. I am struggling right now!

  11. I’ve been working ahead on my blog too for the summer…but then I feel like there is no space for the additional things I want to write about! lol. We just taught Simon to ride a bike! So now Gabbie and I need bikes (Gabbie outgrew hers) and we can go on family rides!
