The Kids Behind The Blog, May 2017

Today is another edition of one of my favorite monthly linkups, The Kids (or in my case, girls) Behind the Blog. Every month I giggle, nod, gasp, and lol my way through these posts. I love the sweet innocence of complete and brutal honesty that the kiddos so willingly dish out.

This month questions did not disappoint. But, when you ask a 6-year-old what their favorite childhood memory is you are bound to get a confused look and a silly answer.

1.  If you had a magic tree-house that could take you anywhere in the world where would you go?

Marissa// Hmmm? To China so I could see Panda Bears.
Emily// Disney World! *Said with no hesitation or even time for thought.* I asked her why and she exclaimed “Because Minnie lives there!!!”
Mom Thoughts// Neither of these surprise me one bit.

2.  Finish this sentence…red rover, red rover…

Marissa// send Emily right over!
Emily// She looks at me confused and says… Nothing. Not that she said nothing, but she actually said the word nothing,  πŸ˜† !
Mom Thoughts// Oh Emily! I was pretty surprised that Marissa knew the answer. I guess I didn’t know that she had played this game before.

3.  What is your best childhood memory?

Marissa// Going to Disney World (She was 3.5 at the time).
Emily// When I dumped a bag of Cheetos on Marissa’s floor. (She would have been 1.5 so it seem pretty unlikely that she actually remembers this).
Mom Thoughts// Still laughing over Emily’s answer. She just LOVES that story and the photo of her sitting there proudly. Needless to say I kept the pantry locked after this happened.

4.  What is your favorite part about nature and being outside?

Marissa// I like looking for animal tracks out at our woods.
Emily// I like finding animal tracks with you.
Mom Thoughts// I can hardly wait to move to the woods.

5.  What do you think Mommy would like for Mother’s Day?

Marissa// A trip to Disney World?!
Emily// A bunch of hugs and kisses?!
Mom Thoughts// Where both of these would be true, I’d settle for a day off from mom life.

Next months questions are…

Do parents get a summer break?
If you could change your name what would you change it to?
How much do you grow in the summertime?
Would you rather go to the beach or to Disney World?
What is your favorite kind of ice cream? Least favorite?

    The girls are just precious!
I can’t wait for y’all’s adventures in the woods!

  • Your kids are too cute!! The woods stuff is a little unnnerving for me- can you tell I’m a little bit of a coward?!

    • Lololol! The day we cross paths with a snake I will be singing a similar song πŸ˜‚.

  • I would take a day off too. But that won’t happen so maybe I’ll just let the kids have a free day and I’ll escape to the water?!?!?!!

  • Isn’t it funny to want a day off for Mother’s Day? I so know what you mean. I love their answers – my kids may have played Red Rover before but they sure didn’t remember doing so!

    • Lolololol. Your boys cracked me up this month. A day off would be so lovely!

  • Lizzie Simantz

Love their answers! So fun and light hearted, the best! I’m with the girls, let’s go to Disney for Mother’s Day!! πŸ™‚

    • I mean, it is the happiest place on Earth!!!

  • Looks like you are going to Disney World πŸ™‚ Ha! I love their answers. I also love the cheeto answer and story. What a fun list of questions and I love how you add mom thoughts.

    • The mom thoughts add some extra insight for sure, lol. Wouldn’t Disney be the perfect way to spend the day?!

  • I think it’s adorable that spilling cheetos was what she mentioned! And my kids had NO idea what Red Rover even was. I hope you get that day off! XOXO

    • I guess Red Rover is a thing of the past. It was a pretty violent game πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

  • Sam

I’m impressed she knew what Red Rover was! Also I hope you get that day off. All moms need a nice break every now and then πŸ™‚

    • Yes they do! I was so surprised that she knew. I have never played it with her!

  • Mason said China as well! So fun! I had a strange suspicion that Emily might say Disney World!! πŸ˜‰ Love their answers and their pretty faces! I cannot wait to see all of the adventures you all find at your new home in the woods.

    • The adventure will be abundant I am sure of it! I had no doubts that Em would say that too!

  • Emily is such a hoot!

  • “When I dumped a bag of Cheetos on Marissa’s floor.” LOLOLOLOL. I totally am LOLing at my desk right now. My coworkers are going to think I’m crazy. Emily is a hoot!

    • She’s a mess. Goodnesa that girl brings so much joy to my life.

  • Erin

Such cute and funny answers. I like how much they have Disney on the brain… smart girls! πŸ˜‰

    • My Emily is completely Minnie Mouse obsessed. Like 5 years and counting πŸ˜‚.

  • A bunch of hugs and kisses! Awww, so sweet. πŸ™‚

  • Aww, hugs and kisses. I’m surprised that a couple of kids knew the red rover answer. My kids gave me a blank stare. I can’t wait for you to move the woods either!

    • I was shocked Marissa knew. I never taught it to her πŸ˜‚. It’s gonna be so cool!

  • Yay for animal tracking in the woods!

    • They love it so much! We found a big ol’ coyote track the last time.

  • A day off from Mom life… give it to me, baby!

  • Jessica

I’ll take a day off too, especially since Drew is gone until Saturday night, so where do we want to go on our day off? πŸ˜‰

  • Oh my goodness! I just adore those sweet girls of yours with their bright smiles and fantastic answers — especially the Disney related ones! πŸ˜‰ lol. Love it!! πŸ˜€ Much love to you and that oh so precious fam of yours, Beth!

  • Your girls are so very cute! China must be on the brain, because my Anneliese has been talking about China non stop. How we can get there. The food we will eat while there. Not sure why China is the place, but it is.

P.S. Hugs and kisses and Disney World sound nice πŸ™‚

    • Baha ha! I guess we should plan a summer trip to see that Great Wall?!?!

  • Whitney Jordan

I love seeing Pandas!! We visited the Memphis zoo to see them and I think I could have watched them all day. Love that M is already calling your woods home πŸ™‚

    • Oh my goodness, that would be the best day ever. Me too friend. I just can’t wait until it really is! We’re getting closer all the time!
