The Kids Behind The Blog, April 2017

It’s the second Wednesday of the month and that means it’s time for The Kids Behind the Blog. Every month I take a few minutes to interview my girls. I love that it guarantees me a few minutes of one on one conversation with them and it has been a really fun way to document their personalities over the past year.

This months interview is about all things spring from flowers to Easter!

What is your favorite thing about spring?

Marissa// That it is getting close to time for the pool to open.
Emily// I don’t have one. *I encourage her* I like to go Easter egg hunting!
Mom Thoughts// Our spring typically seems to end as soon as our school year is over. I LOVE that Marissa is already in pool mode. As far as Emily we haven’t gone to an egg hunt in years, silly girl.

If April showers bring May flowers what do May flowers bring?

Marissa// Pilgrims!
Emily// I do not know! *I repeat the question* More flowers?!
Mom Thoughts// Haha! In the spirit of honesty I had to prompt Marissa just a little bit.

What does a flower need to grow?

Marissa// Dirt, sunshine and water.
Emily// Water and sunshine and soil!
Mom Thoughts// Yay! I love that Emily used the term soil.

Do you like that itโ€™s starting to get warmer or do you like the cold and snow better?

Marissa// Well I like to sled but I don’t like being cold. So, I am happy it is getting warmer.
Emily// I like playing in the snow but I like going to the pool more!
Mom Thoughts// I am 1000% with my girls on this one.

What do you want to do over your Spring Break?

Marissa// See Jonathan, David, and Abigail!
Emily// Go to the movie theater.
Mom Thoughts// Great ideas girls. Wouldn’t you know we made both happen at the same time!!!

Bonus: What is your favorite thing about Easter?

Marissa// That Jesus died on the cross for us.
Emily// That Jesus died on the cross for our sins.
Mom Thoughts// Amen!

Aww, love them! Great job with knowing soil instead of dirt. Emmy is obsessed with playing in the soil in my pots since they are waiting to be planted and it’s driving me nuts, but I keep thinking “dirt don’t hurt.”

    • Keep thinking that mama. Things like that have always been a challenge for me too. I totally get it.

  • Heather Bramlett

Your girls are just precious! Oh that Emily! She is a girl after my own heart! Love her spirit!

    • Oh me too! She is so free and fun and everything I wish I was. So much spirit. Thank you!

  • Love their last answer! And maybe she is trying some reverse psychology to go Easter egg hunting!

    • Baha ha! Well good luck with that one little stinker. I wouldn’t put that past her at all.

  • Love reading their answers, but I really love seeing their style!

    • Can you tell one is very reserved and the other is very spunky. Love how different they are.

  • First of all I just adore these pictures!! You three are precious as can be. Pilgrims!!! I love it. And the last question and answers โ€“ all the YES! Sweet, sweet girls.

    • I have to admit I was beaming that they both answered that way on the last question. We have ALWAYS pushed Christ as the center of Easter and it paid off.

  • Sam

I love these pictures! They look so sweet and yes AMEN to their last answer!

    • Thank you so much! That last answer definitely had me smiling!

  • Love all of the pictures and look at you with a full on smile with teeth ๐Ÿ™‚ Love that last answer, good job mama!

    • Haha! That wasn’t the best photo of me but Em was so cute in it, I had to share it. Thank you friend.

  • Marissa looks SO grown up here! She looks like a little lady! And I love their answers for their favorite thing about Easter. So sweet!

    • She is friend. My baby is going to be 9 and is nearly 5′ tall. I am afraid to measure her… I might cry. I was SO proud of that last answer. We have always pushed Christ as the focus and it seems to have paid off.

  • Emily’s vocabulary is impressive! Still some of the cutest girls around!

    • She really surprised me when she called it soil. Thank you, I think so too!

  • Pilgrims LOL I love it! I will be making a pilgrimage to swim!

  • I love these posts. My son had similar answers to your girls. Yay for warmer weather (pool weather) and Easter egg hunts ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Warmer weather indeed! We are so ready for it and pool season too!

  • Awww such great answers!! And great answer with “soil”. I totally forget to do it this month!! Next month for sure!

    • The soil thing somewhat shocked me. She is such a clever little stinker. No worries friend.

  • Great answers! Simon was ready for swimming too!

    • Swim season simply can’t get here soon enough!

  • Lizzie Simantz

So sweet! And I love their outfits, they look very Spring-y!!

    • It was one of the first warm day we had in weeks. We are LOVING the warmer weather that has finally arrived to stay.

  • Your girls are so sweet! And getting SO tall!
