The Kids Behind The Blog, March 2017

It’s another month of interviewing my favorite girls!
This months questions are a mix of spring and St. Patrick’s Day. Honestly some of these were kind of odd for my girls seeing we don’t celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. They really didn’t have a clue about wearing green and getting pinched if you don’t. Maybe that would be a good history lesson for this year? They have been asking what St. Patrick’s Day is lately…

What’s at the end of a rainbow?
Marissa// *Pauses to think* A pot of chocolate coins!
Emily// Purple! *I explain* Nothing?
Mom thoughts// Both of these cracked me up. Leave it to Emily to be so literal and why she said chocolate coins, I have no clue. But I like it!
What do you like to do when it rains?  Jump in puddles or play inside?
Marissa// It depends on how stormy it is. If it isn’t too rainy, I’ll play outside. If it is raining really hard, I’ll play inside
Emily// I like to play in it but sometimes I just go inside.
Mom thoughts// Sounds about right!
If you found a leprechaun at the end of a rainbow what would you do?
Marissa// Umm… I guess I would talk to him and maybe he could tell me where he lives so I could go there and play sometime?
Emily// I’d come tell you!
Mom thoughts// I’m with Emily on this one. Clearly Marissa needs a one on one chat about stranger danger.
Tell me three ways you know it is spring time.
Marissa// My calendar tells me, flowers like daffodils grow, and it stops being cold.
Emily// Ummmm…. It gets warm, it’s not winter any more, and flowers start to grow.
Mom thoughts// My calendar tells me?! That’s my little planner girl.

Do you wear green on St. Patrick’s Day? What happens if you don’t wear green?
Marissa// No. I don’t know! I really don’t!!!
Emily// No. I do not know!
Mom thoughts: Saw this one coming from a mile away.
Meet the hosts!
Next months questions are…
What is your favorite thing about spring?
If April showers bring May flowers what do May flowers bring?
What does a flower need to grow?
Do you like that it’s starting to get warmer or do you like the cold and snow better?
What do you want to do over your Spring Break?
Bonus: What is your favorite thing about Easter?

  • Love the calendar one!! Also I don’t think any really celebrates St. Patrick’s Day… Just an excuse to drink….

  • Yay! Your blog is back up. I couldn’t see it this morning! XOXO
I love all of their answers, but I’m partial to purple. Yep, love that one!

    • Oh man I had a bad plug-in. I knew something was up when I checked my email about 6:00 and had zero blog comments. The purple was my favorite too.

  • The calendar one, so funny. I love how you did the mom thoughts on their answers…I love, might have to copy that one next month!

    • Copy away friend. It’s a fun way to commentate what exactly is going on.

  • My calendar tells me. Hahahaha. Kids are the absolute best! And hey look, Emily is wearing a Minnie Mouse shirt! Lol.

    • Surprise, surprise. She got like 7 new articles of Minnie Mouse clothing for her birthday… not even kidding. So, she wears Minnie almost all the time.

  • Lizzie Simantz

I love how matter of fact Marissa can be, my calendar tells me LOL!! So much fun!

    • YES! That is her very cut and dry and to the point. She is totally me and it sometimes gets her in trouble :/.

  • Bahaha! I love your mom thoughts…”stranger danger”!!

  • These are a hoot!! I asked my students about St Patrick’s today, there were crickets haha.

    • I mean, does anyone REALLY celebrate it?!

  • Jessica

OMG! I love them! Such great answers. The stranger danger comment from you was the best! 🙂

    • Well clearly if we are wanting to go play with leprechauns at their houses I have failed in that department, lol.

  • Meghan Flinn

Marissa’s answers cracked me up. You can tell she’s growing up! And you with your stranger danger lol!!! And Emily with answering purple… smart girl!!!

    • I know… #allthetears! She was only 5 when I started this space and oh my word, she’s nearly a tween. I’m gonna be sick. I thought the purple was super clever too.

  • I’ll take a pot of chocolate coins any day.

  • bahahah- stranger danger. Too cute. Is St. Patrick’s day not celebrated there?

    • I think it is more of an excuse to drink around here, lol.

  • We really don’t celebrate St Patrick’s Day either. Mason learned about it in PreK. Otherwise, he’d be totally clueless. I really think St Patrick’s Day is just an excuse for drinking! ha.

  • Also, I was really surprised by Marissa’s comment on the Leprechaun question!!

    • YES! Girlfriend has some serious lessons to learn :P. I honestly think she was trying to be funny/cute.

  • They are too cute. I like the thought of purple at the end of a rainbow. I bet one pinch and they would never go out without green on themselves for St. Patrick’s day ever again! The last few years that day has fallen during spring break and we just stay in. Best to avoid the pinching 🙂

    • Baha ha! I guess that is just their life since we home school and never get out. I THINK we have co-op on the “big day” this year… and nobody will have green on because none of the assigned shirt colors are green, HA!

  • Yup, that’s why I didn’t ask my kids the St. Patrick’s Day question, they wouldn’t have understood! I did ask the leprechaun one but first clarified if they knew what a leprechaun is! The older two kind of did. I thought my kids would mention that the calendar tells you when it is spring – only Simon said that!

    • Such clever rascals. It kind of made me laugh really. I mean, who celebrates St. Patrick’s Day?! It was fun to confirm my suspicions that they know nothing about the “holiday”.

  • Whitney Jordan

I know I’ve said this before, but the sister poses kill me!! They are so darn cute together. You could do a whole gallery wall of their cuteness. And my favorite answer has to by the… my calendar tells me 🙂 A planner girl after my own heart!

    • You can keep saying it as far as I am concerned. I finally realized the other day that I REALLY can just tell them to stand and then snap away with minimal coaching on my end. ALL of those years of battling and training them payed off. So keep at it friend :).

  • LOL! Your stranger danger comment totally cracked me up! Your girls are too cute! xo – Brenda //
