Our Mother Daughter Bucket List

Over the past several years we have been no strangers to making and accomplishing bucket lists. From summer fun to Christmas celebrations, we have really done it all.

For over a year now I have been dreaming up an entirely different kind of bucket list. One that wouldn’t last just for a season, but for a life time.

Today I am finally going to share my mother daughter bucket list with you. My hope for this list is that the girls and I can cross off as many things as we possibly can over the next 10, 20, 30 years and that we would laugh and dream over the things wrote down, together. This list is all about creating memories that will last a lifetime with my girls.

~ Develop a signature family recipe.
~ Do a Bible study together.
~ Get in the car and spontaneously drive somewhere.
~ Have a mother-daughter photo shoot.
~ Complete a half marathon together.
~ Go ice skating.
~ Write a list of qualities that the girls should look for in a man.
~ Dedicate a year to serving locally together.
~ Get a free makeover at a department store.
~ Have a classic movie marathon.
~ Teach them how to change a tire.
~ Go shopping and try on outfits we would never think of purchasing.
~ Visit a big city for a weekend.
~ Lay in the grass together and make pictures out of the clouds.
~ Do something Marissa has always wanted to do.
~ Do something Emily has always wanted to do.
~ Do something Beth has always wanted to do.
~ Have manicures done together.
~ Paint pottery together.
~ Go to a ballet or a play.
~ Take an arts & crafts class.
~ Go on a retreat together.
~ Have brunch together.
~ Visit a national park together.
~ Go on a shopping spree.

I am sure as the years pass by more things may be added to our list. But I think these 25 things are a great place to start.

What is one thing that you would want to do with your daughter, or mom?

  1. Yes!! I love this! My mom and I have visiting Magnolia Market on our bucket list. I have so many things I want to do with the kids. I should start a list.

  2. I LOVE this SO much!! What a fantastic bucket list for life with your girlies and I’m sure each checked item will carry a lifelong memory with it! I think I need to create one of these for/with my girls! Great idea and super fun read!! Thanks for sharing, Beth! xo – Brenda // ChattingOverChocolate.com

  3. Ooh I love the idea of creating a signature family recipe! And making a list of qualities to look for in a man! And changing a tire… I still don’t know how! This list is great! Makes me want to create one for Noah and me!

    1. True story. My dad wouldn’t let me get a drivers license until I changed a tire unassisted. I am not joking when I say I have always been a car girl :P. But this was back in the days where only the REALLY cool people had cell phones so it was definitely a more needed skill back then. But still, my girls will learn just like I did.

  4. I love this! I would really like to do this with Gabbie. I’ve always wanted to take a mother-daughter trip with just her. The problem is Zachary is very temperamental and wouldn’t stand for it, lol! I have to wait till he’s a little older I guess.

    1. Lol, sounds like a jealous brother eh? I bet in a few years he’ll warm up to the idea. I am assuming I really wont start working on this list much until my girls are around Gabbies age. But I still wanted to make it.

  5. I LOVE this! There are so many things I want to do with my girls as well, but I haven’t started a formal list just yet. One of these days, I will. Your list is just perfect!

    1. It took me forever to get started on one, so I totally get it. I know I probably won’t even really start working on it for another 4 years or so, but it is nice to have it out there too.

  6. Oh how I l love this, friend!! I just adore you and those girls. And what a great idea to make a buckelist of things to do together. Now I want to make one for Mason and I.

    1. You totally should and maybe when we make that trip we’ll head your way, haha! I was telling Russ that outside of barely crossing into the pan handle, I have never been to Texas and there is SO much we’d like to do your way.

  7. You always come up with the best bucket lists!! I’ve got to write out one of my own! I love your goals for your girls and all the fun things you plan to do. I really like your plans to create a signature family recipe. I think mine would be chocolate chip cookies. I also love your plans for adventures – national parks, road trips and outings. I hope you have a fun spot to post this in your house!

    1. Aaaahhhh! Thanks Whitney! I really hope this is something that we love working on over the next however long we have and that we can create some amazing memories. Printing it in a pretty fashion and framing it would be a special idea and then we could mark it off as we complete them. Yup, I’ll definitely have to do that soon.

  8. This is awesome! I love bucket lists! I used to make one every year. For some reason, after I got married, I stopped. I would love to start it up again. You’ve got some fantastic items on there and I’m sure you’re going to have a blast making memories!

  9. I LOVE this so, so much! The mother/daughter bond is a special one and that’s so awesome that you have a list of things to do with them, just the three of you (or two sometimes!). You should make them a little scrapbook of your fun adventures and give it to them when they graduate collage or get married.

  10. What a fun list! This summer my 15 year old and I went and tried on formal and prom dresses together. That was such a hoot! I hope you get to do something crazy like that with your girls soon 🙂
