The Kids Behind The Blog, February 2017

For one year I have been interviewing the girls for a monthly series, The Kids Behind The Blog. It’s the perfect way to shift the focus onto my little ladies and remember the only reason I started this blog, to document my girls. There are a whole lot of perks to “a bloggers life” that I never expected when starting out. This blog started out more like a journal of my life as a mom and the things I did with my girls. Posts that remind me of those early blogging days always make me smile.

This months questions have a February, Valentines day theme. I have to admit, my girls gave me some pretty amazing answers. Although I should probably also admit that I am pretty stinking partial. But really, what mother isn’t?!

1) What does the word love mean to you?
Marissa // Showing someone kindness.
Emily // Ummm…. Uhhhh… People love things, like you love people and you hug and kiss them. It’s hard to explain.

2) Kids choice! How do you want to spend Valentineโ€™s Day?
Marissa // Have a giant pool party with pizza. We then talked about how the party should be at the beach instead of in Joplin.
Emily // With family and friends and Valentines to give to people.

3) Do you have a Valentine? If so, who?
Marissa // My Family!
Emily // YOU!

4) How many days are in the month of February?
Marissa // 28
Emily // 30

5) How do you show someone you love them?
Marissa // By doing nice things like making cards and giving hugs and kisses!
Emily // By giving them hugs and kisses.

Meet the hosts!

What do you like to do when it rains?  Jump in puddles or play inside?
If you found a leprechaun at the end of a rainbow what would you do?
Tell me three ways you know it is spring time.

Do you wear green on St. Patrick’s Day? What happens if you don’t wear green?

  • thats exactly the reason I started blogging too. Gosh a pool party sounds good right about now!

These girls have some great ideas for how to spend Valentine’s Day! I love these posts because kids are just so funny.

    • YES! These posts always leave me laughing and smiling.

  • Such a cool idea! I might have to participate even though my kiddos are all 11 years old and older, I think there answers would still be interesting. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I think ALL of the kiddos answers are interesting. They are definitely fun posts to read.

  • Such a sweet idea and what adorable girls you have!

    • Thank you so much. They certainly make me smile.

  • Meghan Flinn

Love is hard to explain! Even when Noah asked me if I could tell him the answer, I didn’t really know how to explain it in words, especially to a 4 year old ๐Ÿ˜‰ And I’m all for a pizza part at the beach… sign me up!

    • I was just sitting here wondering how the dictionary defines love…. I may need to look that up. I put you down for 3 ;). I figured all the dads wouldn’t want to be left out.

  • Whitney Jordan

Sweet big girls!! Love is kind of tricky to explain. I’d put them in charge of the party planning with all the fun things they come up with. Especially the part about going to the beach! Thanks for hosting ๐Ÿ™‚

    • It sure is. I think all of the kiddos did a really great job. Wouldn’t that be like the best party ever. Although Olive’s sounded pretty fun and a bit more practical too.

  • Such sweet girls! I have enjoyed reading all of the kids’ responses about what love means to them. It really is hard to put into words, but all of the kids are doing such a great job!

    • They really do. I always love reading these posts. Hearing what kids have to say really makes me laugh and smile.

  • They’re so sweet! Lily said 30, too. Close enough!

    • I noticed that too! Lily and Emily would have SO much fun together. They are both so sweet and silly.

  • So sweet!!! I just live reading all of the kids answers.

    • Oh me too. These posts are some of my favorites to read.

  • I think Marissa is the only person who actually knew the right amount of days this month.

    • And she didn’t even stop to hesitate. She has that Mother Goose poem memorized from like 1st grade or something like that.

  • Your girls are so sweet!

  • Lizzie Simantz

What sweet answers! I like Marissa’s idea for a pool & pizza party!

    • Oh me too! It was almost 80 yesterday. We could have totally made it happen lol!

    • Only if you bring your crazy crew too ๐Ÿ˜™.
