How I Styled It: Favorite Winter Accesories

It’s been over two months since my last fashion post. I was doing so good for a while, but the holidays really distracted me. Today I am back! Once again I am teaming up with Becky, Meghan, and Whitney and this time we are sharing our favorite winter accessories.

Winter in the Midwest is a roller coaster ride. One day you need a parka, the next your sporting short sleeves. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Over the years I have learned the best way to be prepared for whatever comes your ways is to layer. I try to keep several versatile pieces on hand that I can wear in many different ways.

Today I am going to show you 4 of my favorite winter pieces.

Pardon the angry face, the wind was driving me absolutely insane while I was trying to take these photos.

HELLO, pattern mixing! I took so many itty bitty baby steps to finally get to this point friends and I LOVE it. The “new” Beth is always looking for ways to mix patterns in new and exciting ways. In fact, I wore this exact outfit with leopard shoes. 3 patterns may have been a bit much, but I thought it was fun.

The piece I want to point out is this blanket scarf. Right now it is the only one I own, thanks to a very sweet friend, but I REALLY want to pick up another. This scarf is perfect for adding warmth to an outfit or wearing with my coat on a really cold night.

This is probably my go to running errands kind of outfit. Skinny jeans, converse, and a simple shirt. So if you bump into me at the grocery store, this is probably what I would look like.

Let’s talk about the vest. I bought this vest earlier in the year for less than $10 thanks to a crazy sale and a coupon. Vests are some of my favorite winter pieces. I love the extra layer of warmth around the house. I love being able to throw them on over different jackets to mix things up. And I love being able to wear them instead of jackets or coats on those warmer winter days. Everyone needs at least 3 vests in their closet, right?!

When it’s really cold this is what I would probably have on. Actually that is a lie. I really don’t leave the house when it is really cold. Yes, I am 90 years old.

But seriously, a neutral coat with fun, bright gloves and scarfs is my go to. I’ve actually had the ear-warmer and gloves for years now, I knit them back when I actually had time to knit. The scarf was a gift from one of my dearest friends and it matched perfectly. I haven’t stopped wearing this combo for weeks now!

I received this product in exchange for my honest review, all opinions are my own

My final look is a brand new one for me and I got it from an amazing brand new to me company, Style We!

This is my first and only poncho! It is the perfect little something to throw over any simple shirt to dress it up or I can even wear some of my favorite sleeveless shirts under it in the cold months too. I love having something warm to wear that isn’t a coat. I also love that this one is open in the front. I would definitely be open to adding another like it to my wardrobe.

Be sure to check out Style We today to find some amazing, unique pieces!

So there you have it, 4 of my favorite winter accessories this year!

  1. You always look so amazing!! I love the outfits. Your boots are all awesome. Where are you taking these photos because it’s such a neat place.

    1. Oh my word it is grade A ghetto. I’ll tell you what, the next time I go, I will take photos of where I take my pics and share them okay! Thank you friend.

  2. Gah, I love all the looks! I actually don’t own any vests. I feel like I’d never know how to style them. These are some good, and easy looks. And am secretly jealous you have such an awesome spot for snapping pictures. 😉

  3. I love it all Beth! Where is that black and white striped peplum top from in the first pic? That poncho is amazing, and that green looks so, so good on you!!

  4. I love your striped peplum and pattern mixing! And you are such a model!!! I’m loving everyone’s winter fashion! I feel like I’m the only one who can’t leave the house without a puffer coat on though 😉

    1. Such a model, oh my goodness Meghan I just want to hug you. I think you are probably right on that too. It was almost 70 here yesterday…. it’s supposed to only be 40 today though.

  5. I’m loving the stripes and blanket scarf – I’m going to have to replicate that!! And that green poncho is spot on!! Love it! Do you have a link to it?

  6. So pretty!! Love your striped top & got one for myself this season. You look SO pretty in green!! And I’d like to give an honorable mention to your gray booties from the last outfit 🙂 I’m loving scarves, my utility vest and booties this winter.

    1. Several people said they like the green on me (yall are so sweet). Maybe i should look for some more green stuff too. I really want to get another pair of brown booties like yours now. I have been LOVING my gray ones too.

  7. Why hello super model! If only I had someone who could take pictures of me without complaining. Oh wait, you guys don’t want to see 10 pictures of me in yoga pants 🙂 🙂

    1. Oh my goodness you are so sweet. I wish I had someone to do that too. I usually end up setting up a tripod, lololol! And the only time I actually get dressed is for these posts :P.

  8. Shut up- the cuffed jeans and booties is a darling combo! I actually have a mint puffer vest that I dont wear anymore and would love to pass it on to you, would you be interested? You can make it 4 vests in your closet 😉 But seriously, love all the layers.

    1. Lol! #givemeallthevests! I am really wanting a denim one or a denim jacket too. But then I think that I would pretty much only wear either of those with dresses or skirts and I convince myself I don’t really need one. Thanks friend. Cant wait to hear more about your idea for next time.

  9. I LOVE that first look! I have a blanket scarf but rarely wear it, it’s usually not that cold here, not cold enough to need it at least, but I swear the AC is on at work and not the heater and it’s been FREEZING. I just may wear it tomorrow!

    1. I heard that if you have a super thick one you can actually cut them in half diagonally to make it thinner and more easily wearable. Then you could swap with a friend and have two! I always HATED freezing at work.

  10. I love all of these pieces and I adore you! JCP has the best sales and coupons. I need that vest in my life. Now, can we talk about how gorgeous you are? Model status, friend!
