My monthly goals January 2017

Let’s take a look at what I completed…

* Hit 1K Facebook followers
* Think about long-term goals for 2017
* Work on our Christmas Bucket list
* Enjoy the little things this holiday season
* Run 3.3 miles on my birthday (3.3 for 33!)
* Celebrate Advent as a family
* Keep Christ the focus of Christmas
* Stay on track until Christmas Break
* Evaluate lesson plans for the rest of the year
* Date Night
* Finish shopping by December 10th
* Do something fun for my birthday

And what I didn’t …

* 4 workouts a week
* Girls Night

I thought that with more simplified goals I would finally be able to complete all of them. But what I didn’t count on was a cold that would leave me feeling like garbage for weeks on end. So naturally waking up at 4:45 was totally out of the question for several days in a row and I never did find time for that girls night either. 

Over the past month I thought a lot about these posts. Did I want to continue setting goals in 2017? If so what kind of format would I do it in? I love that these posts keep me challenged and accountable. They give me something to strive for and motivation to go after it with. So that said, they are obviously sticking around. I have learned that a good source of motivation is priceless in a busy moms life. You just have to figure out what motivates you and tap into it. For me writing these posts once a month does the trick quite nicely.

Blog-
* Get back to regularly scheduled programming after the holidays.
* Find a few new bloggers to read and engage with in 2017.
* Work on planning out the next couple months and find some new linkups to join. 

Family-
* Have 2 family game nights.
* Create a winter bucket list to keep us busy until spring.
* Have 1 family movie night. 

Fitness-
* Average 4 workouts a week, 17 for the month of January.
* Find some new workout routines.
* Get out the door on gym days by 5:00 a.m.

Spiritual- 
* Pray more as a family.
* Open my Bible more. 

Home School-
* Resume classes with a smile on January 3rd… today. (Just think of me, smiling through the pain, right now.)
* Decide if we want to participate in our co-op project fair. Pick projects if we do. 

Random-
* Girls night.
* Celebrate Russ #37!
* Try 2 new recipes.
* Plan ways to log our year better. 
* Start planning Valentines festivities.

    Way to crush your goals in December. Only having 2 you didn’t complete is a huge accomplishment. Love your new goals and you can totally achieve those.

    • Thanks Jess! I really need to write them down in my planner. I should probably do that now :P.

    • Exactly! That is exactly why I write these posts. To encourage others and get me some accountability. Lord knows I need it :P.

  • Great goals….my goal is to workout instead of social mediaing/blogging. Or not to blog until I’ve worked out.

    • That is a great goal and since I wake up at the butt crack of dawn, one I always keep too!

  • I always like your goals! I love that you want to read and engage with more people. I found that very few of the bloggers I began engaging with in the past year have engaged back with me – you are one of them!

    • If somebody put the effort into engaging with you and you give them nothing in return, why would they keep coming back?! I LOVE engaging with others. There are a few other bloggers that have recently started reading pretty frequently that I need to return the love too. So glad you found me Dara :).

      • Well that’s the thing. I keep commenting on some blogs who never come to mine! It makes me sad bc I see them commenting on tons of other blogs daily.

        • Maybe they feel maxed out. I have kind of been that way :(. That’s why I had to put that on my goal list :P. It would be really frustrating though. Sorry friend. One way relationships aren’t any fun, lol.

  • I always like seeing these because it helps me categorize my own goals even if I don’t blog about them…crazy but sometimes deciding on the categories for my blig is the hardest part!

    • That doesn’t sound crazy to me. I actually really struggled (and normally always do) with what to put down there myself.

  • I, too, want to find a couple new bloggers to follow and (ideally) love.
    And when you figure out how to log your year, let me know. Girlfriend needs so much help. It’s tragic.

    • Yes! Ideally loving is always good. I feel like I made a few new connections in the fall that have turned out great. The best luck I usually have is when people find me and I find them in return. Does that make any sense?

      So I am logging my year in my planner. It is a daily planner so the next morning I have been logging a few sentences about the previous day. I may turn them into monthly posts, or not. I know they would be more for me than my readers but is that always a bad thing?

    • Yay Amy! I love goals, my own and others so I sure hope you blog about yours :). I bet you do really great just remember to give yourself lots of grace. In two years of goal setting I have never finished a list :P.

    I think I should set goals for myself, but half the time I feel like I’m just trying to stay alive. Maybe I should start small with just one or two 🙂

    • I have totally been there. The trick to goals is lots of grace and realizing when having none or backing off is best. I think starting small would be perfect! Even if you planned to pick one thing you are pretty confident will get done and one you’d like to do. That way you at least cross one off. Some may say its cheating but I say it is keeping a girl motivated and confident.

    Great goals! I’m working on doing a devotional and opening my Bible more this year, too. Let’s check in with each other occasionally to see how we’re doing 🙂 I’m excited to start thinking about Valentine’s Day, would love to meet some new to me bloggers this year and I love how many of your goals included your family.

    • We totally should do that, I need all the accountability I can get in that department. Thanks Whitney. I need to try and keep my priorities straight so putting lots of family stuff on their is important!

    Girl you rocked December! And if it wasn’t for that nasty cold you would’ve done it all. I like January’s goals, they seem very attainable! But my gosh, out the door for the gym by 5am!!??!

    • Some month, some month I will mark them all of… but t has been 2 years and still hasn’t happened. Yup, I am one of those people. Which probably makes me crazy.

    12 out of 14 goals crushed in December? You go girl! That’s awesome. It’s so hard to stick to goals during the holidays, so major props to you! I’m curious about new link-ups, too! I found one that I am really excited about and can’t wait to join! But, I am open to others as well. Plan ways to log our year better – I have been thinking about this too!

  • Hah, my workouts took a hit in December too. It was all those dang cookies on the counter and all of the kid’s activities that did it to me. Love your January goals. You are going to rock it this month girl!

    • Thank you so much. I think all my workout for January are useless because of all those dang cookies that I ate in December :P. I never can resist cookies.

    Loving your goals! I’m always impressed with how much you get done each month! Do you sleep???

    • And I am still laughing. I do, but probably less than most people. I am usually in bed around 10:15 and I wake up at 4:40’ish. I do best if I am betting 7 hours but that is REALLY hard for me to pull of. I have also refined the art of 10 minute napping. Some days I sneak one of those in.

  • I always love these posts! I think I might start doing something similar soon, too, to hold myself accountable. I’m still trying to figure out my yearly goals and then I need to create some sort of timeline. And girl, look at you getting it DONE in December!! Well done! And of course, nobody will judge you for not dragging yourself to the gym when you were sick. I don’t blame you one bit!

    • I am always so glad when others say they like these posts. I feel like I mostly do them for me. But they are also a great way to log what I have on my plate and the accountability is the biggest thing for me. Thank you! Yeah, I went 2 days on that week that I was dead, it was awful and I probably spread loads of germs :P.
