The Kids Behind The Blog, December 2016

It’s The Kids Behind the Blog, Christmas edition!
I have been so excited for this months interview and the question options. So excited that I decided to ask the girls all 10 questions! I just couldn’t help myself. I needed to know their thoughts on Santa’s sleigh, reindeer, and all things Christmas.
I decided to try to snap a few photos of the girls by a tree and it felt like I forgot how to take good tree photos (not that I ever had it figured out). Do I use my fancy flash, do I not use a flash at all, If I turn my ISO way down they tend to be blurry, If not, they are grainy. Where should the source of light be? I really could use an in home lesson from a pro to help me out. (any takers?). So, I picked the best of the grainy & blurry to share with you. Because when one sister decides she wants to give the other sister an unwelcome kiss, things get a little silly.
1.) Which reindeer is your favorite?
Marissa // Rudolph! Because he is the most famous one, has a glowing nose, and I don’t know anything about any of the others.
Emily // Rudolph! Because he has a glowing nose.
2.) What do you want for Christmas?
Marissa // The Lego Friends Adventure Camp
Emily // Skating Minnie Mouse
3.) What would you do if you caught Santa at your house?
Marissa // I would take a video of him and talk to him.
Emily // I would ask him what I got for Christmas.
4.) What if Santa got stuck in your chimney?
Marissa // I would help him get out and not tell anyone.
Emily // I would tell my daddy and we would go help him.
5.) Do you want it to snow on Christmas? Why or Why not?
Marissa // YES! Because we never had any snow last year and I really want to go sledding.
Emily // Yes, because then we could go play in it and have hot chocolate.
6.) Have you been naughty or nice this year? Why?
Marissa // Nice! Because I have tried to be nice.
Emily // I can not answer that question… uhhh! Really, I don’t know what to say. Seriously, I don’t know which one to choose. I asked her what she would say if Santa Claus asked her and she said… NICE! Because I play with my sister even when she is mean to me. Oh my word y’all, I was crying from laughing by the end of this.
7.) If Santa asked you to fly in his sleigh with him would you do it?
Marissa // Yes, but only if he would bring me back home at the end.
Emily // YES!
8.) What is your favorite Christmas movie?
Marissa // I can’t choose…(intense thinking) Polar Express!
Emily // Santa Paws
9.) If you could change the color of Rudolph’s nose what color would you make it?
Marissa // I wouldn’t want to change it.
Emily // Rainbow colored.

10.) Sing me one Christmas Carol

For this question I thought a video would be more fun. I also wanted it to be spontaneous so I warned Marissa with 10 seconds to start singing. Naturally, like most of my plans, it backfired. Marissa warned Emily before she made her way to me. Emily then went into a complete panic over what to sing. It was probably the only time I have ever had trouble getting that girl to sing her whole entire life. We worked it out though.

LOVE!!!! First off the photos of the girls crack me up and their answers are so great!! The singing is so sweet too!

    • Thanks Jess! They are like night and day and they always leave me laughing!

  • Amy Smith

Your girls are darling! I haven’t figured out the whole Christmas tree pictures yet either. We need a crash course together. Emily’s answer to the naughty or nice question cracks me up!

    • Okay so you not having it figured out makes me feel better, because you are amazing :). My tree is in front of the window and I actually think that is part of my problem? I may move it. I SO wish we could figure this out together. I am going to attempt some pj photos this weekend and would like to do a better job.

Me too! She is a hoot!

  • Meghan Flinn

Marissa was cracking me up this time! Make sure to take a video of Santa stuck before helping him… Of course! And so practical to make sure he’d give her a ride home before agreeing to go… A good lesson in life 😉

    • Baha ha! She is such a logical, mothering, practical girl. A good lesson in life for sure!

  • Lizzie Simantz

OMG their answers are so great!! I love Emily’s response to if she was nice or naughty, LOL! I love their innocence!

    • Thanks Lizzie. Emily was so funny answering that question. I wish I had it on video.

  • Their answers are always so cute and sincere. Love the outfits and tree for the photos!

    • Thanks Deena! They really love doing these interviews.

  • Gah! Love it!! 🙂 Such cuties with their singing.
I also need to master the Christmas tree photos. I usually try to do it in the middle of the day so I have lots of natural light, then either turn the ISO up, or bust out my tripod, or both….

    • See I can’t do the middle of the day because my window is behind my tree…. unless I move it :P. I need to try something because I am feeling frustrated.

  • Those singing girls! Too cute! We just memorized part of the poem Twas The Night Before Christmas and Rudolph isn’t even mentioned in it. My 9 year old was like, what???!!

    • Baha ha! That would be a GREAT poem to memorize. I should have Marissa get on that. Forget the Bible verses and Robert Frost she’s working on, kidding of course… at least on the Bible part. But seriously, I wish I had that one memorized!

  • Emily! I’m dying! That girl is a character, isn’t she?? #6 is absolutely hilarious! They are both just so sweet.

    • She IS! She’s a hoot Lindsay, you’d love her :).

  • They are so cute. Your pictures look good to me!

    • Thanks Dara! I’m going to try again after some youtube videos!

  • Im having zero luck with tree pictures myself (not that Im even on the same level as you, pro photog) but Im blaming the two year old for not standing still longer than 3 seconds.

    • HA! You are WAY too kind. I just felt better when Amy said she was struggling too That made me feel MUCH better. Those wiggly kiddos make it impossible. Even my girls struggle with that, still.

  • Everyone’s naughty and nice has been hilarious!! Love the pictures and videos…so fun to see their little personalities!

    • They have been! I also love that most of the kiddos said Rudolph too. He is clearly a favorite.

  • Poor Emily, struggling with the nice/naughty question. That’s definitely an Emily thing!!! Do we say the “right” thing or are we honest? Hmmm…. She’s too cute not to be on the nice list!

    • Haha! I guess there really is something more to a name. I think so too!

  • Desiree @ Macke Monologues

Emily!! Her answer to the naughty or nice is too funny!

    • That girl. You just watch out friend. The first born is very by the books, the second one is a hoot that keeps you on your toes more than ever :). Birth order is a fascinating thing.

  • Oh my goodness I was laughing so hard…he’ll bring me home and the end…hehe. I loved it. Great questions this month! I love that you videoed the song, perfect!

    • This was a really fun month, I knew it would be!

  • I love their pictures, their answers and their videos this month! SO sweet!

    • This month was easily the best we have done so far! Thanks friend.

  • These girls are just the sweetest. I wish we were closer JW. I would spend all my extra time lovin’ these two too pieces!

    • That would pretty much be the best ever. Today at Sams Em looked at me and said. Mama, I love you more than I ever have before. My hurt burst into 10,000 pieces.

  • chall1018

Oh they are just so sweet! I was cracking up at Emily’s answer to the naughty or nice question! That girl is something else. So cute…both of them! Love the videos, as always.

    • I was cracking up too! I SO wish I had that recorded on video. Oh that girl, she is just such a hoot sometimes.

  • Whitney Jordan

They’re the cutest! Love that Minnie was included, their request for snow and that they gave some creative answers. A rainbow Ruldolph would be fun to see 🙂 Santa Paws is a favorite at our house, too.

    • Confession: I cry almost every single time I watch Santa Paws. I just can’t help myself. These little interviews have been a fun way to document the girls for sure!
