My Best Recipes of 2016

One of the goals I made in 2016 was to improve my food photography. I have always felt at home in the kitchen, but taking photos of food (that actually look appetizing) isn’t always the easiest thing to do. In 2016 I shared 30+ recipes and today I want to highlight a few of my favorites.

Black Bean Hummus Layer Dip
A simple twist on the traditional 7 layer dip that features black bean hummus.

Coconut Kettle Corn
My favorite way to eat popcorn! Warning, this recipe is super easy and addicting.

A super simple, addicting kettle corn that uses coconut oil.

Brownie Bottom Pumpkin Dream Bars
Out of all the recipes I made this year, I think this was the girls’ favorite. These bars are so easy to make and combine two of our favorite ingredients, chocolate and pumpkin.

A simple, easy to make layered dessert featuring some of your favorite Nestle baking products. #ad #BakeHolidayGoodness

Cranberry Jalapeno Crackers
This probably was one of  the most unusual recipes I have shared. But we fell in love with this unlikely pairing.

Bunny Pie
I’m not really sure if I can call this a recipe since you don’t actually cook, but I will. This adorable pie is the perfect addition to any Easter dinner.

Simply the Best Blueberry Muffins
I make these muffins more than any other recipe I have ever shared on the blog. When I say this is a family favorite, I mean it.

Peanut Powder Granola Bites
If you are looking for a protein packed low-calorie snack for the New Year, look no further! I love these easy to make bites and they do a great job of keeping me on track.

S’more Cookie Bars
I made these cookie bars in honor of National S’mores Day. They are gooey, chocolatey, and sticky. Everything that a s’more should be.

S'more cookie bars and other great s'more recipes too!

I had a lot of fun in the kitchen in 2016 and I can’t wait to share more great recipes with you through the next year.

Yum! All of these recipes look amazing and are right up my alley. I have a few pinned and need to make them.

    • Thank you so much Jess. I like making food that other people actually want to make. I need to come up with a plan to do more food posts in 2017!

  • Your food pictures look great! I am not a good cook at all but these all look wonderful to me.

  • You have really done a great job tweaking your blog this year and your food pictures look so good. I have loved your addition of fashion too of course. 🙂

    • I have plans to do more of those in 2017 too! Hopefully one a month! I can’t believe it all started a year ago. I finally got sick of my closet and purged 100+ items to restart. Since then, I have purged nearly 100 more. I have less clothes than ever, but I LOVE my options now.

  • These all look great!! 🙂

These all look amazing but I have to say, the black bean dip sounds soooooo good. I could make an entire meal off of dips so this is right up my ally. Pinning!

    • Oh man I am the same exact way. That stuff is by far a favorite of mine too. Its like 7 layer dip, but better.

  • Um, yes to all of these! You are so awesome and these recipes clearly show that awesomeness!!

  • YUM! I need to bookmark this and make some asap!

  • Yum yum yum! I don’t remember seeing the blueberry muffin recipe! I’ll have to check that one out… I’m a muffin freak!!

    • Oh me too and those muffins might just be my favorite ever!

  • Your food photography skills are so amazing! I appreciate good pictures of food LOL and I always enjoy your recipe posts!

I know I can always count on you for some pretty amazing recipes! Thanks for that, friend!

  • Yum yum yum! I need to make those muffins again!

    • Oh me too! I just made them last week, but again would be good too :P.

I’ve always wanted to make that 7 layer dip in cups so maybe I need to host a Superbowl party to make that happen. I love anything with black beans so I’m sure I’d be a big fan of this 🙂

    • That black bean hummus is AMAZING! You HAVE to try it, with or without the dip. After having that I don’t think I could ever have the regular 7 layer dip again :P.
