Orange Beach 2016: The Final Recap

After a full blogging calendar for weeks, my final vacation post got put on the back burner. I am so excited to finally have a chance to wrap up sharing about our trip today.

The first part of our trip was definitely when all the excitement happened. Much after Day 4 we turned into bums, and it was amazing.

Day 4

Day 4 was sunrise on the beach with both of my girls, donuts for breakfast, The Gulf Coast Zoo, being beach bums, a fancy dinner out, and walking around ‘The Wharf’.

The Wharf was on the edge of town and was a little creepy, mostly because it felt abandoned. All of the shops were already closed and we were walking along not really seeing any people when all of a sudden LOUD music started and the palm trees lit up, dancing to the music. It was super cool but really weird since it felt like we were the only ones there. I bet that place is A LOT busier mid July.

Day 5

Day 5 was lots and LOTS of beach time. We ate dinner at the condo but left to go snap a few photos and grab ice cream. None of the photos turned out amazing, thanks to weird lighting and wind that just wouldn’t quit, but I am still happy I took them.

Day 6

Day 6 it rained and rained and that was okay. It almost seemed appropriate really. We hung out on the balcony, packed our bags, and went shopping for souvenirs. Later that night we repeated our beloved Moe’s for dinner and tucked the girls in one last time.

Day 7

Day 7 was our farewell. We headed over to the beach to watch the sunrise one last time. The weather that morning was the worst. It was trying to rain, again. We snapped a few final photos and were in the car by 7:30 to start the drive home. Our driving time home was 14:30. I caught up on reading about 120 blog posts and countless emails on that drive home. Hey if you’re stuck in a car you might as well be productive?!

Your sunrise photos are amazing!! I love girl’s photo with their stuffed dolphins. πŸ™‚ They look so happy. What a wonderful family vacation.

    • The sunrise photos are my favorite too. We had the best time.

  • Amy Smith

Oh your vacation looks simply amazing! I love those family pictures so much. Did you guys drive straight through?

    • Straight through there and back. Good Lord that is a VERY long but doable trip.

  • Lizzie Simantz

Seriously this vacation looked so perfect! I’m all about just spending quality time with my favorite people. Did you make that sand mermaid?! If so, props to you!!

    • HA! Ummm,…Yeah, sure we did #liar. We just found her on the beach at sunset and thought she was so pretty. We saw dolphins, a mermaid, jellyfish, and crabs that morning. It was perfect.

  • You take awesome pictures!

  • Was it really two months ago?! Time sure does fly. The picture of the girls and the lit palm trees is awesome!! But really all your photos are wonderful.

    • Just about! like 7 weeks or so. Thank you so much.

  • The beach, doughnuts and a Ferris Wheel. Yes perfect vacation indeed! Wah, I want to go back to the beach….

  • chall1018

I am so, so glad you guys had an enjoyable vacation and made so many memories. I adore all of these photos!

    • It was simply just the best. Even if this post did come a bit late at least I blogged the whole trip!

  • It looks amazing and I love the photos!

  • Such beautiful pictures, girlie!! Did you guys do that sand mermaid? And I can’t read in the car much less answer emails— ick! Good for you that you were productive though πŸ™‚

    • HA! I wish I could honestly say we did. We just found her at sunrise and thought she was beautiful. I thought I would end up with a massive headache. So glad I didn’t.

  • You guys had SUCH a perfect vacation and your pictures are beautiful! And you are so tan!! I would kill for a tan right now! We just got our fall family pictures back and I look like a ghost. Haha.

    • Girl I am feeling the same exact way, but refuse to get on a tanning bed. I tan SUPER dark super fast. I just need a little sunshine in my life. *BIG sigh*

  • I just love your vacation, totally relaxing and getting a ton of family time! You look so tan in that family picture, holy cow, the beach agrees with you πŸ™‚

    • I was so tan when we got home. It was amazing. I tan super duper easy. I wish I could go back right now.

  • I feel your pain. I haven’t blogged my last days of vacation either. Oops!
Seriously, looks like an amazing vacation!!! I’m totally craving a beach vacation now!

    • Oh my goodness that makes me feel SO much better girl. I had this sitting in my drafts just needed the right time to post it. I was just about to give up but I am glad I went for it. I love knowing the WHOLE vacation is blogged. #memories

  • I am impressed that you can read in the car! I wish I could, definitely would be more productive with that ability at times.

Love the family pic on day 5! And it sounds like the perfect vacay even with the rain.

    • I think it was the work of God friend, lol. I can NEVER read in the car like I did that day without a massive headache.

      It WAS perfect.

  • I love the last of your pictures! It looks like you had an amazing trip! (Are you still missing the beach? I sure am!)

    • Oh my goodness, YES. Posting this almost made me sad. I miss it so much.

  • It really looks like you guys had a blast!! Great pictures too. πŸ™‚

  • Desiree @ Macke Monologues

I love that you made a point to see the sun rise every morning. You honestly cannot beat the sun popping up over the ocean!
Those palm trees all lit up are SO pretty!
And that moon jelly fish is MASSIVE! We see quite a few of them around here, but they are NEVER that big!
    Such an awesome vacation!

    • You really, really can’t. And just think, that flip flop is a size 11/12 :P. I did some reading on them and found out that I guess most people aren’t sensitive to their stings? We also saw some of the orange/coral colored ones too. But never on the shore. They were usually out in the water pretty far.

  • I love that you and Russ had this time with your girls. You all deserve time together in the sun, making memories.

  • Whitney Jordan

What a special trip!! Your pictures are amazing and you made memories that will last a life time. Family trips to the beach are the best. Olive is always asking when we’re going back to the beach πŸ™‚

    • Aaahhh I love that she is asking that. Emilly sometimes randomly just starts crying because she misses the beach so much. It is so sweet and so sill all at the same time. But I don’t tell her she’s silly ;).

  • Meghan Flinn

What a wonderful vacation! And yes, I’m sure that place is packed in July!!! Your photos are making me wish we had a winter beach getaway planned like we did last year!

    • That would be pretty stinking amazing. I feel confident we had twice as much fun as we would’ve if we had went earlier.
