Picking The Perfect Holiday Card

Come mid October I start thinking about a few holiday related things. Like: What is the earliest date I can set up the Christmas trees (yes trees… as in 6 of them) without being ridiculed? What in the world am I going to do with our crazy elf this year? The longer you have an elf and the older your kids grow, the more difficult the used to be “so easy” process becomes. Will this be the year that Marissa finally figures out that the fat man in the red suit isn’t completely real? And last but not least, do we have the perfect family photo so I can pick out the perfect Christmas card?

I love all things Christmas and cards are no exception to that love. Russell and I have been sent out a Christmas card every year since we were newly married. In fact, that very first Christmas card was the way we announced our pregnancy with Marissa to many of our friends and family. Being able to share a small piece of us with others during the holiday season is something that I look forward to year after year. Plus nothing beats snail mail in December. I love receiving cards from friends just as much as I love sending them.

How to pick the perfect holiday card. Simple tips and tricks to make the process easier.

Today I want to share with you 5 simple tips to help you pick out the perfect Holiday card this year.

#1 Don’t stress about the process.

The holidays are infamous for making people stress out. There is just SO much to do and our schedules are busier than ever (how is that even possible). Even the mundane things that are supposed to be fun can quickly become burdensome.

Thankfully Minted realizes this and goes above and beyond to make the process of choosing a card easier with their Find It Fast option. Simply upload your photo, then watch as it appears in hundreds of different holiday card designs. This saves a lot of time on individually clicking through and uploading photos to holiday card product pages.

I love the design and foil options of this wood-grain card from the ‘Making Spirits Bright’ holiday card challenge.

#2 Choosing a photo layout style

One of the biggest choices to selecting a card is choosing how many photos you want to add to it. Do you want a card with one large shot or something that shows off multiple. A good tool to deciding is by evaluating your photo options. If you only have one really great shot, the decision is pretty much made for you. But if you are among the lucky one who has several frame worthy photos, why not use your Christmas card to show them off?!

#3 Think outside of the box.

Minted offers a variety of options that are perfect for those wanting something unique. Two of my favorites are their minibook and ornament cards. Both options are customizable and are sure to make your card memorable.

There are so many amazing details that can go into this Be Merry minibook. Being able to share about our family, but still keep a card format, is definitely something I would love to do.

As an avid Christmas tree lover I think these ornament cards are so practical and clever too. The idea of making your card easy to display and keep is brilliant. This Sparkling Cheer ornament is one of my personal favorites.

#4 Customize it.

Once you have the perfect photo and the perfect card to put it on don’t forget that your options haven’t ended there. At Minted you are free to take it one step further. You have shape options, color option, paper options, and foil options just to name a few. You can really play this to your advantage by choosing a color from your photos as an accent, making your card feel more thought out and cohesive.

The pops of colors and modern styling of this card are so much fun. It is also one of Minted’s founder & CEO, Mariam Naficy’s 2016 Founders Picks

#5 Be true to you!

My favorite Holiday cards to receive are the ones that truly capture a family. I always smile when I look at a card and it interprets a family perfectly. The best part about custom cards is being able to make them your own. Make sure you choose what you love for your photos, wording, and your design.
