The Kids Behind The Blog, October 2016

2

One of my favorite parts about our interviews every month is having a post where all the focus is on the girls. After all, they are the entire reason I started this blog in the first place. The past couple of months I have been snapping photos to add to my post on our interview day. This month interview day just happened to coincide with mustache night at Awana. When they requested that their mustaches be a part of our photo shoot, I couldn’t say no.

And after seeing the results I am SO happy I went along with their shenanigans. I love that these photos capture my silly girls perfectly. What a great reminder to be a mom that says yes more often.

This months questions are about all things Halloween.
Let’s take a look.

What do you want to be for Halloween?
Marissa// A vet!
Emily// Tinkerbell Minnie Mouse!

Do you like handing out candy or collecting it?
Marissa// Collecting it! *happy dance*
Emily// I want people to give candy to ME!

What should mommy and daddy be for Halloween?
Marissa// I think mommy should be a fairy princess and daddy should be a police officer.
(In the video I answer with a very sarcastic “okay?!” I am still laughing at my response. It kind of gives of the yeah right like that would ever happen vibe)
Emily// Uh I think daddy should be a dragon and you should be a…. (long pause while she is distracted by a car driving by)… a mom. I know you, can be a girl dragon. Daddy can be Toothless and you can be Storm Fly!

Do you like to make a scary or happy face Jack-o-lanterns?
Marissa// Happy!
Emily// Happy!

What is the best part of Halloween? What’s the worst?
Marissa// Best: Getting candy. Worst: Getting scared.
(She goes on to tell a story about a doorbell that had a spider that scared her one year. I tell her how awesome that was and she strongly disagrees with me)
Emily// Best: Getting candy with our friends. Worst: Having to walk a lot!

For all the extra peppiness, wiggling, sarcasm, and drama be sure to check out this months videos.

These are the best photos ever! Seirously I love their outfits, the fact that they are wearing mustaches, and the HUGE smiles on their faces. I think my favorite is the second photo. They always have the cutest answers. A girl dragon cracks me up. 🙂

    • I love how these turned out too. Makes me want to take them back in their Halloween costumes . That alley is amazing. Thank you so much Jess.

  • Amy Smith

I just love these photos! Emily is still loving Minnie Mouse? I love that!

    • She has been completely Minnie crazy for over 4 years now! Crazy, right?! Thank you.

      • Amy Smith

Hey, the girl knows what she likes. 😉

  • Oh how very cute those photos are!!! And I’m loving the costume choices they chose for the parents!!

    • Silly girls right?! Some days I just don’t know about them :P. Thank you.

  • Lizzie Simantz

This is the cutest ever!! I love that you included the videos! Emily is so full of life! They are just the cutest 🙂

    • Emily IS so full of like Marissa and Emily are polar opposites personality wise. Marissa is very by the book and Emily is a total hippy. Are your girls similar or really different like that?

      • Lizzie Simantz

Ella and Avery seem to be pretty similar so far, although Avery is much more of a firecracker! But they both love to be silly, where my son is totally by the book, rarely gets really excited for things. So I have both ends too!

        • I know being by the book tends to be a first born thing, so that makes sense. Birth orders and gender order fascinates me. I always wonder how other families with different dynamics than ours work. I know, I’m kind of nerdy like that. It’s just so much fun and pretty cool.

Oh my word! The mustaches. SO awesome and adorable. Love those girls. And I love this location you’re shooting at. It’s awesome and has great light. I think it’s unanimous that kids like to collect the candy better! Mason would totally say that walking a lot is the worst part, too. There are so many similarities between Mason and Emily.

    • Thank you so much Crystal!

Isn’t it THE best. It is a bit sketchy but I ain’t scared ;). I notice that all the time too. They would either be the very best of friends or drive each other crazy, lol. I am guessing the first one :).

  • Cute, cute pictures!! I love the way they look at each other!! So sweet!
I’m so surprised Emily wants to be some form of Minnie Mouse for Halloween…totally didn’t see that coming! 😉

    • Baha ha! 4 years in a row now… surprise, SURPRISE! She just keeps reusing her sisters costumes and adding Minnie ears too them :P.

  • The photo shoot is adorable. Mustaches are so much fun!
Doorbells can totally freak you out, haha.

    • It was some weird added contraption for Halloween, and it was awesome. Thank you so much!

  • Meghan Flinn

Still loving your alley!!! Your girls are just beyond cute! And Noah must not remember getting scared last year or else he would have said that. The first house we went to, the lady cracked open the door and extended a creepy old hand and it freaked Noah out. He was scared and hesitant at every house after that!

    • It’s simply unbeatable. Aaaahhhh poor Noah. Probably a good thing he doesn’t remember :P.

  • Desiree @ Macke Monologues

Those mustaches are awesome! So fun.
I can totally see you as a fairy princess. lol

    • Baha ha! That would be so friggin awkward.

  • Oh my goodness! Their pictures this month are SO cute!

    • Thank you so much. They had a lot of fun.

  • I like when people give me candy too! 🙂

  • Queenmomjen

So adorable!! I love the mustaches. I wonder when little Miss Minnie will move onto a new hero 🙂

    • It’s starting to seem like that may never happen, lol!

  • Ok, those mustaches are hilarious!! I agree with Emily, the walking a lot is such a drag 😉

    • So fun, right?! Haha you two sillies. Im not so sure Em will ever make a good distance rumner 😜.

  • Having to walk a lot… oh that Emily!
And I know this alley and I know what you brought with you 😉

    • Never leave home without it ;). I take it everywhere.

  • Whitney Jordan

I love that they’re so excited about collecting the candy, have big ideas for costumes for the whole family and that they wanted to wear mustaches in their photo shoot! Also, loved your alley backdrop for these pictures, too!

    • They are so excited for Halloween to hurry up and get here. Isn’t that alley the best ever?!
