Picture Perfect Project V9: August 2016

For almost two years now, I’ve been taking one photo a week of my girls!

Okay, so the exact count is 1 year and 8 months, but still. Having that many photos of my girls together is just awesome. They aren’t always the best quality photos and I can really see how some weeks I don’t do the best job playing photographer. I didn’t edit the entire first year of photos (something I REALLY regret). Sometimes the girls are in bad moods, some times they are mad that the grass is wet and they are wearing flip-flops, plus getting Emily to look and smile at the camera can STILL be a challenge. But 20 months later and we are still going strong.

Because the photos may not always be framers but the memories are forever. I love seeing Marissa with her goggle tan lines last summer and having shots of favorite outfits, missing teeth and new haircuts. The out takes don’t get deleted either. Sometimes those turn into my real favorites.

As a mama of two girls that are growing painfully quickly I want to capture every moment possible through the lens of my camera.

Here is a look at weeks 32-35

August 2016

Week 32

I feel fairly certain by the wet hair that we were running pretty late to church this week. Although I kind of love that you can see Marissa’s hair isn’t board straight. She definitely has some waves in there.

Week 33

It seems like pink and black was the unplanned color scheme for this week. Emily is wearing one of her favorite Minnie Mouse dresses that Marissa and I picked out for her on her 4th birthday. I am glad we bought it a little big and she can still wear it.

Week 34

Marissa looks like a bit of a hippy with her braids and floor length maxi skirt. Goodness I love that skirt. Emily’s hair was seriously on point this week too. I think I plopped it. Have you ever heard of plopping? When a straight-haired mom has a curly-haired kid you just learn SO much about how to take care of curly hair. I never had a clue it was so complicated. She does have the best curls ever though. I tell her that all the time knowing that some day, she’ll hate it.

Week 35

You would never know it by looking at this photo but it was actually pouring rain while the sun was shining. On our drive to church we saw a huge rainbow too. It was the perfect start to our Sunday.

35 weeks done, 17 left to go!

Just for fun let’s take a look back to one of my favorite photos ever that was taken in August of 2015.

So much changes in just one short year.

I love your weekly photos of the girls. Such a great idea. That maxi is adorable on Marissa. And I agree that Emily’s hair looks awesome. Curly hair does take work.

    • It is like a beast that you don’t want to aggravate, lol! Can’t wait to see what the ocean water does to her curls though :). I bet it’s amazing.

  • Amy Smith

I love this idea of your weekly photos & your girlies just keep getting prettier by the week. πŸ˜‰

  • Plopping… That’s a new one πŸ˜‰.

    • Exactly. Straight haired people just don’t have to worry about that stuff :D. It’s completely amazing how well it works though.

  • They are just too cute! Mad props to taking a picture a week for just about two years! Pretty sure I would fail…

  • Meghan Flinn

OMG they really have grown so much in a year! And I can’t get over Emily’s hair, I love her curls! But yes, inevitably she will one day wish for straight hair… We always want what we don’t have at some point!

    • It is painful sometimes Meghan. She seriously has the best curls I’ve ever seen anyone have and I’m not just saying that because I am partial. It’s totally true :D.

  • Plopping lol. Never heard of it. She does have the best curls! I would imagine they will enjoy looking back at these in 10, 20 years!

    • Straight haired girls like us are just so clueless. Thank God for Pinterest :P. I certainly hope they do!

  • No, I’ve never heard of plopping – and my hair is curly! I’m going to have to look that up!

    • You totally need to look it up on Pinterest, try it and report back!

  • Awesome job at being so consistent- this would be a really cool time lapse project to see how much they’ve grown!!

  • That Minnie dress is just too cute! I love that you get pictures of them weekly. Those curls…so darn cute!

    • They are SO darn cute. They leave me crazy jealous all of the time too.

  • So fun to see a pic from a year ago! They’ve grown!

  • Desiree @ Macke Monologues

So many cute dresses! The first set the girls were wearing might be my favorite. Followed closely by the Minnie dress. πŸ™‚
I have curly hair and I’ve never heard of plopping. What is that??

    • Plopping is pretty much the best ever. I sent you something on Facebook that you need to check out! Thank you!

  • I always love these posts and I loved seeing their picture from last year! Sweet girls!

    • They are such sweet girls. I am such a lucky mama.

  • Wow, Marissa’s hair has so much wave in it! Does it brush out or just ‘relaxes’ by the end of the day? Im pretty sure dyeing my hair ruined my curls but fingers crossed they come back soon. Such sweet girls you have!

    • It just relaxes through the day. Crossing my fingers for you. Maybe you should try plopping it?! Thank you!

  • Two years! You go girl! I love that one you picked as a fave as well. Your daughters are just too cute!

  • I love how fashionable your girls are! I am totally obsessed with Marissa’s last dress and want one in my size!
    Evelina @ Fortunate House

    • I feel the same exact way about that dress. It is PERFECTION.

  • I love that you do this! And can I just say that Marissa suddenly looks so much older?!?

    • You can…. but I might cry. Why are our girls growing up so fast?!

  • chall1018

They are so precious! Marissa looks so grown in that
turquoise, black and white dress! I think your favorite is one of my favorites
too! They have such pretty smiles.

    • Thank you so much sweet friend. Every couple months Marissa seems so much more grown up to me than the months before. It is so hard on my heart friend.

  • Your post is the picture perfect definition that babies don’t keep!
