Rewind Friday V4, Favorite Home School Posts

Hello Friday!

It’s the last Friday of the month and that means three things:
#1 This month is almost over so I really need to check out this months goals to see if there is any hope of getting some of them marked off.
#2 I’m being featured over at The Blended Blog today so check that out!
#3 It’s Rewind Friday!

When I started thinking about a theme for this month it seemed like there was one obvious choice, home school. But as I dug through the archives I realized I don’t really post on homeschool all that much. The irony is I started this space thinking homeschool would be where I focused most of my time. Realistically, taking time to photograph large chunks of our school day and projects just isn’t something I want or have time to do. However I have written quite a bit on the subject of homeschool, shared some product reviews, and blogged a few projects & lesson ideas over the years that are worth mentioning.

Here are 5 of my favorites.

Ask a Home School Mom Part 1

After asking readers to submit their questions about any and all things home school I wrote this post as a part one. My hope was to share more about why we do what we do and to encourage others who may be interested in the same path. I ended up doing two posts to answer all the question that came in. You can read those answers here, including my favorite question ever: How do you stay sane spending that much time with your kiddos without a break?

Little Artist: Mondrian

When I was a new blogger I started a series tracking our art projects. We were studying famous artists, the pieces they created, and creating a replication of their work. This was one of my favorite projects we made.

School Room Makeover

After 2 years of homeschooling at a kitchen table I knew we needed a more permanent space. The resolution was to turn a bonus space off our kitchen into our school room. This post shows the drastic changes that took place to make it happen. Over a year later and it still looks the same, however we recently added a works space for me that you can check out here.

Great theme! I am always so impressed by all of your home school posts. I think it’s amazing that you home school the girls. I know for a fact I couldn’t do it, which makes you so inspiring to me. πŸ™‚

  • I love your homeschool room! It’s really cute =) I think it is absolutely amazing the moms that do homeschooling. I wish that it were an option for us here.
    Have a great Friday!!!

    • Thank you so much! It amazes me how some people don’t have the option to home school! We feel really fortunate to live somewhere that is really loose with the rules. Happy Monday!

Now I’m off to read all your home schooling posts. Even though I won’t be home schooling Noah, I am so intrigued by it!

    • I know, right?! I have always been curious. Even when I swore I never would. I mostly wanted to know why, just why?!?! Now I get it :).

  • I loved the before and after of your classroom. Add in your desk and BAM! pure homeschool perfection.

  • Congrats on the feature, I’ll be heading over to see what it’s all about in just a second! Also, thanks for the links, I’m sure to pick up some valuable information! πŸ™‚

Your room makeover is awesome! What a great space to have right there!

    • It is amazing! Seriously! I don’t know how I ever survived without this space.

  • I will have to go check out your artists series…I love art.

    • We love art too. I need to get back to doing those projects. They would be SO much easier with older kids.

  • First of all, congratulations on your feature today!! So exciting!

And second of all, I loooove your post about your school room makeover! What a huge difference! That desk for the girls is amazing!

    • It made all the difference friend. Then we added a desk for me and I feel like we have finally arrived :P. Happy Monday!

  • Youre the best resource on Homeschooling!! Im going to look at that Mini Artists post right now!

    • Those posts are so much fun! I really should redo some of those projects. Older girls would make them A LOT more fun :P.

  • Desiree @ Macke Monologues

I’m continually blown away by your dedication to homeschooling. You amaze me.
I LOVED your school room makeover, and your little artist series was so neat. Come be my kid’s teacher!!

    • Oh goodness gracious I wish I could :D! Thanks Desiree. Hope y’all are having and awesome Monday.

I was just talking to my family this weekend about homeschooling and how I wish I could do it. I just don’t know how I would juggle a full time job and homeschooling too. Anyhow, I told them about you and how awesome you are at it. πŸ™‚

    • It would be really hard to find the balance. I bet in a couple more years it would work though, especially depending on Mason and the way he learns. Thank you sweet friend. I don’t always feel awesome at it :).

  • Scanning your past homeschool posts I remember reading all of these! Such an inspiration on how to do it all. And isn’t it funny the direction your blog goes? I think every blogger probably starts off in one niche and then moves into another.

    • God bless you girl. Looking back at so many of those old posts just makes me cringe. But on the other hand I am so happy I have something to look back on. It IS completely insane.
