When two or more moms escape their every day lives to rest, recharge and relax.
There must be laughing, good food, and chocolate.
Recently I ran away. I ran away with my dear friend Anna just to get a way for a bit. To relax, to rest, to plan some home school science for the year. To have just a few days where someone didn’t need something from me every 15 minutes and I could think without being interrupted
Don’t get me wrong…. I LOVE being a mom.
I love this mom life more than words could ever say. But sometimes even a break from something that we love can do the heart good.
We loaded up the car late one Friday afternoon and took off!
Our destination was Eureka Springs AR which happens to be the quaint little town that Russ and I got married at. In fact, I hadn’t been there since our wedding weekend almost 9 years ago!
We arrived around supper time and quickly decided that we needed to find food. After seeing sign upon sign and ad after ad we ended up at the Rockin Pig Saloon. Classy, right?! Name aside, the food there was AMAZING. We couldn’t decide what we wanted so we ended up splitting our meals. I think that was a very wise choice.
After we “pigged” out *baha ha* we went back to the hotel where we discovered the science curriculum we assumed would be so easy to plan… wasn’t so easy at all. After hashing out two lessons we called it a night.
The next morning we slept in mom style… you know, until 7:00. We ate breakfast and went back to lesson planning before escaping to do some touristy things.
After a few *dozen* attempts to take a good selfie at “the big Jesus” some Aussies clearly saw our struggle and asked if they could take a picture of us.
We also stopped in a little old church were I was able to listen to Anna play the piano for just a bit and caught this photo of her standing on a pew attempting to get a photo just right. Anyone who takes photos knows the struggle is real.
Next up we ventured down town. This is actually the building Russ and I stayed at when we got married.
And this is the spot where we said I do! It was so fun to be back at this spot. But it did make me wish Russ was there to share a smooch with. We should go back next year for anniversary #10.
We headed back to the hotel to cool off, eat some fudge that we purchased, take a nap, and plan some more school. *whomp whomp whomp*
After we had our fill of “fun” it was time for dinner. We picked Aquarius Taqueria. The menus were made out of beer cases, the service was terrible, but the crowd was huge.
After we ate I knew exactly why people love this place, the food was so good and very authentic too.
The rest of the night was spent snacking, watching TV and you guessed it… lesson planning.
On Sunday we slept in even later, 7:30, before having breakfast and packing up to head home. We originally thought we would stay longer, but we opted to leave a bit earlier and arrive home by lunch time.
Mom-cation seemed like a pipe dream but I am so glad we made it reality. I am also so thankful for our awesome husbands who not only let us go away but rocked dad life while we were gone.
So to those of you out there saying. I should do that with a friend of mine I would whole heartedly say, DO IT! You won’t be sorry you did.Sharing all about #momcation 2016 in today's blog post. #getaway #girlweekend Click To Tweet
