Mothers Day {2016} TT V19

Mothers Day 2016 was unlike any Mothers Day before.

For starters it began in the middle of a 3 hour car ride home. I was dozing in and out of sleep when I looked at the clock and noticed it was 12:11. I told my friend Anna Happy Mothers Day and dozed back off. We arrived home an hour or so later and I stumbled to bed with the kids fast asleep at my parents.

About 5 hours later I woke up. I was still so tired and didn’t sleep nearly enough but it was Mothers Day and a nap could totally happen. Besides when I saw a note laying on my night stand, I had to read it.

And then I cried.
I have no words to say how blessed I feel to wake up to a note like this.

After I composed myself I took a quick shower and got around in peace (such a treat) then snuck out to go get our girls. But first I made a stop by ‘The Bucks’ first to grab my mama a Mothers Day pick me up. I really appreciate her keeping the girls so we could take off for the day on Saturday.

We headed to church in the 37, my favorite Sunday car. Every time we drive it I wonder about the family who may have driven it to church 79 years ago. Is that weird?

Then it was time for some obligatory Mothers Day photos, which just turned into me tickling the girls to get them to smile.

Mothers day is the one day a year I won’t cook. So we headed to McAllisters for lunch.

Next we went back home where I took a pretty epic nap and awoke to this.

Those silly girls set up a Mothers Day party while I was sleeping, complete with a “magic” show too.

It was the perfect place to sit and sip on my post nap coffee.

After the party I did some blogging while they worked on laundry. Mothers Day for the win!

We had a pizza party.

And I tucked my sweet girls in bed.

This was my 8th Mothers Day. I would have been about 36 weeks pregnant on my very first one. I can’t believe I’ve been a mom for this long. It’s still hard and messy sometimes, but it is a beautiful mess and one that I thank God for every day.

I hope you had a wonderful Mothers Day too.

Well, I just cried right along with you. Such sweet words. It looks like you had a fabulous Mother’s Day, Beth!

    • They really are so sweet. Thank you! I definitely had a good one this year!

  • Jessica

Ummm Russ is so stinking sweet!!! Wow! I always tell Drew that I just want his words written on a piece of paper. Sometimes he really does write a long note. Other times it’s a quick message, but either way it shows me how much I’m loved. Way to go Russ! It looks like you had a pretty great day!!

    • Earlier in the week he told me he hadn’t bought me a card and I said “I don’t need a card, I just want you to be thoughtful” I guess he listened to me :D! We had a wonderful day!

  • OH that note would have made me cry too!! What an awesome day! I love the pic of you and the girls! And a magic show? Super cool!

    • We it was really a “magic” show. We aren’t heading to Vegas or anything yet :P. It was a wonderful day for sure.

  • Russ FOR THE WIN. That note oh my goodness.

So glad you had a wonderful day! Also, your pink dress is awesome!

    • I know! He doesn’t say much but sometimes he just surprises you with something like that. So thankful.

Thank you! I am loving that dress too. Such a fun little vintage twist.

  • Wowza….now that would have been enough for me, that note. I would have just gone back to bed and called it the best Mother’s Day ever. Husband for the win.

    • Baha ha! I probably should have done exactly that. At least the rest of my day didn’t disappoint!

  • That note would have done me in! So sweet. Love your dress you wore to church 🙂

    • It sure did me. Thank you! It is very vintage and I adore it.

  • This is so sweet! The note and the party are the absolute best. And I love the pic of the 3 of you on the porch swing – beautiful! It sounds like you had one awesome day! -Jessica, Sweet Little Ones

    • I really did have a great Mothers Day and it was exactly what I needed. I just feel oh so thankful thinking back.

Oh my word! What a sweet letter!! You all are so cute in the 37. And that is definitely something to think about. If only the seats in that car could talk and tell you the stories! Love the sweet photos of you and the girls. I often have to tickle Mason to get him to smile, too! We recently got a McCallister’s here and we are in love!! It’s so delicious. “Come to my party it will be great”…so so so sweet! You are such a good mama! I am glad you had a good Mother’s Day, friend!

    • It was such a great weekend I am so glad that I have two posts to recap all of the fun. That place is great #1 Sweet tea and #2 .99 kids meals, hooray! Thanks friend.

  • Oh my goodness, that letter could be the sweetest thing ever! What a perfect weekend, seriously, a date with the hubby and a day without cooking, perfection! 🙂 Happy Mother’s Day friend!

  • ADA

What a sweet and thoughtful letter and what great photos. You and your girls together look adorable. It looks like you had a great Mother’s day. In my latest post I recapped my Mother’s day also. Pleasure linking up as usual.

    Welcome by. <3 Ada.

    • Thank you so much! We are so thankful for our regulars that link-up each week. Tuesday Talk is so much fun because of them! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week.

  • Looks amazing!!

  • Oh my goodness that letter would have totally made my day. You look beautiful in that peach dress and I think that is so cool to wonder about that family.

    • It definitely did, thank you Shelly. That vintage looking dress is perfect for cruising around in that car.

  • Meghan Flinn

That letter is amazing and would have me crying too! And I’m with you on not cooking on Mother’s Day. Whenever Noah said he wanted to eat at home I’d remind him its Mother’s Day and I didn’t want to cook lol. Loving your hair in this post, both up and down! And I was kind of hoping photos would get easier as they got older… Still need to tickle them to smile!?!

    • I cook ALL the time, at least it sure feels that way so a much needed break is always very welcomed. Than you. I am TRYING to actually do something with my hair more often lately. It is hard to find any motivation though. Marissa is SO easy to photograph, Emily not so much.

  • How sweet is this post! The letter from your husband – the best! My husband is not a man of many words, so he writes his feelings down in letters too. This is why I loved reading this!

    • YES!!! Russ is the exact same way. That note was by far the sweetest one he has ever left.

  • The best notes are always a surprise. Im so glad you got showered with love and adoration on Mother’s Day!!! And I admire your “no cooking rule”. Ok, who am I kidding, everything about you is admirable 🙂

    • Aaawwww you are just too sweet friend. Happy Wednesday!

  • Desiree @ Macke Monologues

Oh my goodness, Russ’ note – tears!!!
    What a fabulous Mother’s Day!

    • It really was just what I needed. Thank you!

  • What a great Mother’s Day!!

  • Your day was just perfect. And that note from Russ? Melt my heart!

    • I know! Such a great day! I almost wish it was Mothers Day again already.

  • oh that note, sniffles. I had to stop reading for fear of bawling. Love your Mother’s Day! So perfect. Esp not cooking – sometimes you just need a break even when you enjoy doing it.

    • YES!!! I cook all the time and the only days I really get a break are my birthday and mothers day so i really enjoy those two days.

  • That note from Russ was just the sweetest thing ever – melt my heart! What a great Mother’s Day! Love all the photos!

  • Whitney Jordan

What a sweet Mother’s Day! I love getting thoughtful, handwritten notes so Russ did a great job. You got to do all of your favorite things with your favorite people. I’d call that a big win. You deserve it because you’re a GREAT mom 🙂

    • He really REALLY did. I should have just gone back to bed and called the whole day a win but things did get even better. Thanks friend. It takes one to know one ;).

  • Such a sweet day!! And that note?? Gah, so sweet!!

    • I feel fairly certain he will never be able to top that note :).
