Friday Highlights 2016 V11

Hello Fri-Yay!

I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am that this week is over.
But, I’ll do my best under highlight #2 ;).

It’s Friday, we have nothing to do all day and the level of happiness that brings me is almost hysterical. I am giddy, giddy I tell you! The only down part was not getting to sleep in, but those 5 miles weren’t going to run them self. So early this morning I slipped out of bed and hit the gym. So glad that’s over now!

Weekend plans consist of a short run with Marissa, some time at the shooting range, dinner with our dining group at church & a whole lot of nothing else.

Now onto this week Friday Five.

{ONE} Blog Highlights

Friday 3.17.16This week on the blog I shared…
What’s going on “Currently”.
About our favorite new toy.
Printables to make a sweet treat for others.
A Recipe for ‘The Best Loaded Potato Dip’.

{TWO} Hello WordPress

This week.
I have no nice words to describe this week.

Last Friday I began making the painful transition from Blogger to WordPress, by myself. I would love to give you a big pep talk, pat you on the back and say, “You can and should do it too.” However, that’s just not the case friends. I think if I had to pick one word to describe the past week it would simply be exhausting. Where I consider the redesign and transfer to be successful, I could never in good conscience encourage someone else to do the same thing. But if you ever do decide to go for it. I’ll be there with a shoulder to cry on if you need me.

{THREE} Resurrection Rolls

This week I also shared about one of our favorite Easter traditions, Resurrection Rolls. They are so tasty and easy to make. You should definitely add them to your Easter celebration this year!

{FOUR} New Shirt

I finally got in another shopping trip with Anna Monday night and I picked up THIS shirt.

Blue Chevron Shirt

That shade of blue is definitely a favorite of mine and I am in love with the fit and pattern.

I also grabbed Marissa a coat for next year for $7! Gotta love those end of the season clearance sales.

{FIVE} $10 @ Target

Speaking of shopping, Monday is one of my favorite blogging days of the month!

Have you done your shopping yet?
I did and you’ll just have to wait and see if this month was a bust or not.

Here are the links to our other trips just in case you missed those.

  1. It’s over and you’ll need to rest from all the excitement this week. Thank you for sharing your thankful moment with me this week. It’s on Thankful Friday today and it made me happy you all shared your hearts. Enjoy your weekend!

  2. I love that top you purchased! I love even more that it is a bit longer in the back! Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. Oh man, I was hoping you’d tell me the conversion was easier than expected! I’m definitely sticking with blogger for now… Though I am constantly tempted by all that WordPress has to offer!

    1. Haha if you had someone else do it for you, piece of cake. The DIY end was really rough though. Setting it all up was a cinch. But unhooking, rehooking, and not having much down time. Then finishing things up while trying to do posts was a total nightmare. I think if you did DIY it you could take your time to get it set up then decide when you wan to transfer and plan to take 4-5 days away from blogging it would go MUCH better for you.

WordPress is amazing, I won’t lie.

  4. I keep going back and forth….do I want to convert or not. I definitely know I will be paying “my web girl” to convert me. I am so not patient as it is. I’m loving that top and it reminds me so much of my favorite Pleione tops. Have a super weekend Beth!

    1. If I had, had someone do it for me I would be sitting here with a HUGE smile on my face screaming convert, convert! BUT I think DIY’ing it left a bad taste in my mouth. I do LOVE so much about WP built in Tweets, I can add PDF files directly, I actually own my space, the HTML side doesn’t look nearly as scary and the formatting is SO much less frustrating. Blogger used to reformat my posts any time I went back into edit them. So there are so many perks. I thought on it for a year before I did it. You’ll eventually decide :).

      Thank you, you too!

        1. That would be SO helpful. I am planning on doing a post next month sharing what I love most about WordPress. I’ll have to include a screenshot showing how much less intimidating HTML is in a WordPress page.

  5. I love that blue shirt. Blue and white are our school colors, so I am always looking for something to wear to my daughter’s game without screaming PANTHER MOM!!! I’ll have to check it out.
I cannot even imagine converting to WordPress all on my own. It was everything I could do to download my template from Etsy! You did a fantastic job! Have a great weekend!

  6. That’s a really cute shirt!
I can’t even think about a WordPress switch right now. I think I would have to send my kids away for a week to even accomplish it!

  7. It looks beautiful over here though, but the transition was rough huh? I always make Jen’s Guy do those things for me, so I am a little in the dark on how hard it is. He did need a lot of Dr Pepper now that I think about it…..

Hope you have a great Friday and weekend 🙂

    1. Thank you so much and that seriously made me LOL. I kinda wish Russ was a good IT guy but he is “technologically challenged”. He can build a car like no one’s business though :D!.

It was just hard Jen. I can’t even describe it but I felt like I was drowning. I am self taught on all of this stuff to so I imagine that amplified my feelings. It worked though and I couldn’t be more proud.

You too friend. Enjoy your weekend!

  8. Oh Beth… I feel you on the transfer. I am still working the kinks out (like getting my comments transfered, which the tech people say I can’t do…ugh).
The blog looks amazing!! I am very impressed… and I may need to pick your brain about a child theme. 😉 Have fun this weekend!

    1. I gave up. Some of my old post comments transferred others didn’t honestly I don’t care enough to keep trying. Where I am maybe a bit sad to have lost that it’s not like I look back on them and old posts are rarely ever commented on. I am more frustrated about how it really jacked up the formatting of some of my old posts. I’d love to tackle fixing those even if I just did it a couple of weeks at a time but I can’t think about that right now.

Pick away any time. I also set up the static page too, did you notice that. Sheesh, my brain still feels mushy it may take me weeks to recover.

      1. Ugh! That is no fun. 🙁 I did notice your static page! It looks great! I am very impressed with your site, looks very professional to me! 🙂 Big hug girl, hopefully the hard stuff is done.

        1. The hard stuff is ALL done and I feel like I have a HUGE weight lifted off of my shoulders. Thank you Jesus! Just the reformatting to fix and like I said, I’ll get to that, when I get to that. Maybe a great thing to work on over summer?! Do a week or two every morning.

  9. I am still impressed with your techy skills! Everything looks great around here 🙂 Love that new top and the bright spot of color it’ll add to any outfit. Hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks friend.

It is bright and I absolutely love wearing that shade of blue. It is light and airy and that subtle chevron is perfect. I hope your having a goo one too!

    1. Thank you, thank you so much dear. I am over the moon that I pulled it off and that top. I envision it with a tan and white shorts… c’mon summer.

  10. I think you did a wonderful job on the design and what not on your wordpress. I have been toying with the static page that what you have when you open your blog?

    1. Yes and I am not sure how I feel about it. You? It was trickier than I thought to set up but I did it in about 1.5 hours one evening. I do like that it serves as a welcome and the only way you ever see it is if you come directly into the url and not a post but I don’t know…. It seems its the thing to do now days so I was trying to keep up with the cool kids.

  11. I’m sorry that your blog transition wasn’t a fluid one but hopefully everything is fine now! Are you still happy with the decision despite the growing pains? I can;t wait to see what people have bought at Target for under $10! It’s always so interesting to see and I always find something from these posts that I end up buying for myself!

    1. It is, it is. It took me ALL the way until Friday to put the last nail in the coffin, but I did it. Honestly I am beyond thrilled but I would still NEVER recommend it to others. They may hate me if I did, lol.

I know, either that or I see the fun Dollar spot stuff that I missed and I am sad, lol.

  12. I’m so sorry to hear the transition hasn’t been the smoothest. I’ve been debating whether or not to make the switch from Blogger to WP, but I’m totally terrified. I’m fully confident you will get everything down pat in no time!!
Five miles?! I’m so impressed. My running has been s-l-a-c-k-i-n-g something fierce. You have a half coming up… Right?

    1. I would totally say do it but I would also totally say pay for it too. I wrapped up the move on Friday so it was a full 2 weeks and HOURS at the computer. I am SO glad all of that is behind me now.

Yeah mine has too! I have a half on May 21st so in two months and 5 miles is my longest run so far…. ooopppss! BUT, I am just gonna train for 8, suck it up, do my best and know this won’t be a record setting time. I am just doing it to do this amazing race and to do it with my friend Anna. I know its gonna suck some.

    1. Yes!!! The link-up opens on the 3rd Monday of each month. It is so much fun. I love doing the shopping (duh) and seeing what everyone gets. You should totally join us some time.

  13. I am sorry the transition was such a pain, but friend, you NAILED it! I am so in love with your site and your design. Everything looks so great!! I don’t want to say it was worth it, because I am sure you would want to punch me in the face! ha. But it does look great!! And we are making those resurrection rolls this weekend!! Can’t wait. I love Easter!!!
