Today I want to share with you one of our favorite family meals.
A few weeks months back I mentioned that we made grilled pizza. I received so many comments asking how we did that or how good that sounded that I knew I needed to do a blog post about it. So here I am finally writing it all down.
Pizza is one of our family favorite meals. It is affordable, easy and everyone loves it. I usually make this pizza in the oven but in the summer months the least thing I want to do is crank the oven up to 400 degrees for an hour to make dinner. So I tried grilling the pizza and the results have been amazing.
Pizza Crust Recipe
Any crust will likely work with this method but this is the one we love.
It makes a great thin, crispy crust.
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 heaping tsp salt.Masa flour (for rolling the crust out later)
I simply throw everything in the mixer and let it do all the work for me for about 5-8 minutes.
Place in a lightly oiled bowl and let rise until ready to use. I generally do this about 1-2 hours before dinner.
Gently and carefully pull the dough off the counter. The less flour you use, the more difficult this will be. The dough will want to pull and stretch a bit and you obviously don’t want holes in your pizza.
Once the dough is up here is my fancy method for taking it out.
I am sure you could use a paddle or baking tray but I just lay it on my arm and go.
Since we are going for a good crispy crust I always find it best to pre-bake the crust a bit. I put it on the grill for 1:30 seconds to 3 minutes (time depends on the size of the pizza).
Another important note is to always keep the lid closed!
Let’s not forget to mention that clean up is a cinch and your house isn’t 80 degrees when your done.
