Christmas at Silver Dollar City 2014

Silver Dollar City has been a family favorite for years now. For the past couple years we have been season pass holders and that means we are always just 2 hours away from one of the girls’ favorite places.

The only thing that I love more than a trip to Silver Dollar City is a trip to Silver Dollar City at Christmas time. The whole park is covered in lights and it is beautiful. They also do a great job of celebrating the reason for Christmas, our Saviors birth.

On Thursday we surprised the girls in the morning with a note in our advent bag that said “Go to Silver Dollar City today” The screams were heard all over town. We also used a set of “bring a friend passes” and brought our good friends with us.

Before we went in we had to stop at the gate for a few photos.

This tree is huge, beautiful and even more magical at night.

They stage the park with so many photo ops, it’s a bloggers paradise.

So naturally we took some a ton of photos.

We saw a couple shows.
The kids were all thrilled to go up on stage and it even “snowed” when they sang.
We rode some rides.

And we saw “The Man”, Santa, himself. Marissa is COMPLETELY positive that the REAL Santa Claus lives at Silver Dollar City.
She has ALWAYS been very pro Santa.
Emily… not so much.

She suffers from a VERY severe case of P.T.S.D. every time she see’s the guy

Post Traumatic Santa Disorder.

Maybe next year.
But at this rate she may never come around :).

After Santa it was time to eat some dinner.

Then we hopped on board a Christmas train ride.
Now that is an “usie”!
By the time the train ride was over it was very dark and we were able to take in some of the beautiful lights, watch the parade and check out the tree’s light show before heading home.

Another fun day at Silver Dollar City. So glad that we were able to go and that we had great friends to share our day with.

How was your weekend?

  • Looks like it was a fun time! Love all the lights!

    • It was a great day. Even with the mist and the fog we still had a great time. I am already looking forward to next year :).

  • looks likeso much fun! Love the GIANT tree! oh and the one of all four of you with the tree — 2 photos of all four of you in a week? amazing! and I hear you about Santa! 🙂

  • This looks like a BLAST! I love it all!

  • Seriously what a fabulous day!!!!!!! Such fun memories! Loving that picture op as gingerbread men!! Love PTSD with Santa pics. Sounds like Lily could join in on that fun. Ha!

  • That looks like so much fun!!! If we ever make it to your area SDC is a sure stop for us!

  • What amazing pics with all those photo opps. And what a great little family outing!!!

  • All the pretty! I love anything that decorates. Always better when it is decorated. Sounds like so much fun. That is a hike over though at 2 hours, further than Disney for us and I know how much we are not fans of the drive there and back esp after a full day. And, pizza sounds really good. And cocoa. And a big tree…and rides. K, so the whole thing, it sounds good!

  • Love all the oversized decorations! And how fun do those rides look?! 🙂

  • I love that the trip was discovered through the advent calendar.
I've never been to Silver Dollar City, but it's pretty obvious our family needs to make a trip during Christmas time (that big tree, the million photo ops – perfection)!!

  • PTSD that cracked me up. I'm pretty Austin has that. He will not even look at Santa!
Looks like you guys had a wonderful visit.

    • Austin and Emily would totally understand each other then. She will not look at him, he's "scary". It was a great visit, one of our Christmas highlights for sure.

  • I want to do this so bad!! I think we probably will next year when Wyatt can pull a little of his own weight. 😉 It's about 5 hours from us so it will definitely be a full trip!
